soujiro seta Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Guard section from Magical Bomb says "all", means it can be blocked high, low and in the air (without barrier block). Thanks. In the same guard section, what do HA, HB, HL, 100, and L mean?
SoWL Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Now that I think about it, maybe we should fill the Matchups forum now? I know we could do it for a while, but is the time right, or should we wait for the console release?
C0R Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Thanks. In the same guard section, what do HA, HB, HL, 100, and L mean? See following okay, went through all the character's jump/special notes, should all be correct now. Also switched the guard column to: H: block high L: block low A: air regular block so HL = high, low, air barrier block HA = high, air normal block etc B must be barried while in the air.
Cirno Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Now that I think about it, maybe we should fill the Matchups forum now? I know we could do it for a while, but is the time right, or should we wait for the console release? We should worry about getting actual matches in (with multiple people, over a decent length of time) before we worry about filling the matchup forums. Theory (or small experience) Fighter shouldn't be allowed in there.
dummyacct7 Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I'm not really liking the look of Hazama vs Plat right now, but that might just be because Hazama's too good a character. His normals come out faster than Plat's, any blockstring he throws at you will put you out of effective range so you can't punish/pressure, chains eat through bubbles, and jayoku's just what it is.
Cirno Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Hazama vs Plat doesn't seem too bad, and Plat being able to 2B under his 5D helps a lot. Again, I'm mainly waiting to get some personal experience behind my belt before I talk too much about matchups.
TD Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 l wouldn't put ragna at 6-4. yeah he outranges her but a good plat can close the gap easily. mami beats his hf, most if not all his normals (all the important ones). she has really good tools on him an so does he, that matchup imo is VERY close to even. imo her worst matchup will indeed be haku (he really outdoes her midrange...), carl (no bat/meter=gg, but she can rtsd for days so idk) litchi (idk, litchi's a bit on the slow side. plat may outprioritize her staff normals and staffless litchi has to be almost point blank, which plat likes), arakune (he has a field day setting up in her face), and possibly jin. maybe valkenhayn. but l dont see any of these being more than 6-4 except haku and ara. shes just too solid to have any 6-4 or worse matchups imo. (right now)
Cirno Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Mami is really dangerous to just throw out though, and if you're predictable with it Ragna can ID out of it easily. I'd say it's a close matchup, but if either side did have the advantage, it would be Ragna. I don't think Arakune would have a terribly huge advantage over her so long as you have bombs/missiles/cat hammer etc, Litchi might be tough if she gets her oki shit going, Carl will be annoying for just about everyone, and Haku will be upsetting unless you can score a cat hammer or start your pressure. all this is obviously highly subjective but i'll be glad to rant about matchups once she's out on console.
huey253 Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 i think the only people qualified for writing matchups for platinum right now are HeartNana or Kid Viper due to having actual competition (at an arcade).
suzumiya4ever Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Wow pretty surprised that she is pretty high tier. Damn, I was hoping she was gonna be one of mid or low tier thanks for the inputs, now just gotta patiently wait for her to come out :D

That is kind of the point I made thrice already, yeah, but they don't post very often in here. Wow pretty surprised that she is pretty high tier. Damn, I was hoping she was gonna be one of mid or low tier thanks for the inputs, now just gotta patiently wait for her to come out :D She isn't high, so far at least, according to Japanese players who have had the game for a decent length of time. You might want to check this post I made a couple pages back. Also, hoping she was mid or low? Just.. come on now. If she's high, she's high. Play her if you're gonna, and fuck the haters. I thought we've been over this already. Edited April 20, 2011 by Cirno
suzumiya4ever Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Oh I was referring to Lk's list and the post above yours. I also read it somewhere that she is somewhere around B tier, but we will see what happens
Yggjrasil Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 i think the only people qualified for writing matchups for platinum right now are HeartNana or Kid Viper due to having actual competition (at an arcade). Doesn't mean we can't give our own estimates on a match-up now can we? It makes for good general discussion. Especially if the match-up is with one of the characters we're used to playing.
TD Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 its fun to speculate. plat is one of those characters who will look top if played right and garbage otherwise.
huey253 Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 its fun to speculate. plat is one of those characters who will look top if played right and garbage otherwise. can't see platinum as S tier. She is really strong though!
huey253 Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 A post from the BB gameplay discussion thread: "May issue of Arcadia has two ranking lists from two different players. List 1: S: Makoto, Tao, Hazama, Jin, Noel A: Carl, Rachel, Lambda, Litchi B: Tsubaki, Ragna, Arakune, Mu, Valkenhayn, Hakumen C: Platinum, Bang, Tager List 2: S: Makoto, Valkenhayn, Jin, Noel A: Hazama, Carl, Tao, Mu, Arakune, Tsubaki, Rachel B: Lambda, Platinum, Ragna, Litchi, Bang, Hakumen C: Tager Done by two different players, the first list I can't read the person's name, the second I think is goroo. Some variation, but generally agreed between the two of them that Mak/Jin/Noel are top, Carl is high, Ragna and Hakumen are mid, and Tager is bottom." Otherwise, there's LK's tier list, which I personally agree with so far, but is hardly official. List One is Tsujikawa List Two is Goro
Yggjrasil Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Of course they would choose 2 Makoto players to make those lists. (sarcasm)
LunaKage Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Of course they would choose 2 Makoto players to make those lists. (sarcasm) Well at least they were honest with Makoto's position.
Exciel Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Anyone know if Hakumen can counter the bubble? Bubble oki is pretty legit and if Hakumen can't use his drive on it than it'd be better than Makoto orb oki. Platinum I feel will get only stronger on the character ranks from here. I think her fuzzy guard (at least I think this is a legit fuzzy guard) was only recently discovered and put into use and it's pretty brutal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK9IWd2g9DI :30 shows a decent combo off of it.
Kujikawa Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Plat is really getting mixed opinions from various players. Some thinks shes bottom tier, others A+ tier :S Assuming that the Makoto players suggested her to be low average to bottom tier, maybe Makoto might possibly be a bad match up with Makoto?.. Then again everyone has a bad match up with Makoto :P
zreb Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Bubble can be parried. Parrying it outside of oki looks fishy though cause of how slowly it floats... Cutting it destroys it but doesn't create the void zone.
Kurushii Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 plat video delayed due to me fainting brb hospital But you had enough time to post here. That's some determination. Get well soon.
