Man, I was wondering how the Hotaru > ad OD > falling j2C/jB combos were going to look. That is the funniest Hakumen combo I have ever seen.

I wonder how much longer before I make a combo thread. I feel like there haven't been enough yet.

3 Options:

1. Make thread NAO. But you'll need to capture and time stamp all combos, which will be tedious. Coupled with the fact, that no one will have any use for them, none of us are in japan. And those who live in Japan already know the combos we'd be posting.

2. Give the game a full month from its release date, so approx the end of December. by then people usually have figured out the basic bnbs, intermediate bnbs, and advanced bnbs. And it would make it easier to compile them as opposed to constantly changing combos because someone discovered something new.

3. Just wait till the game is announced or released in NA. I think dioxide said she'd record the combos you take note of no?

To be honest with you, I mostly skim matches or keep Hakumen matches to a minimum so I don't suck in CSEX, which I'll be playing for a good while.

Man, I was wondering how the Hotaru > ad OD > falling j2C/jB combos were going to look. That is the funniest Hakumen combo I have ever seen.

It's interesting how hotaru is easier to follow up now due to how high you are after doing it, and you maintain your momentum during your airdash when you activate OD.

Also yes, if you want big damage zantetsu (after a confirmed hit) or, less so, renka(1)>kishuu>stuff. But If I understand properly zantetsu doesn't prorate so it can be done at any point in a combo for raw damage. The second hit also has vacuum effect making I easy to combo off of, from anywhere on the screen regardless of spacing. Though I don't understand why combos have a lot of zanetetsu(1)>CT>stuff, why not allow the second hit to continue, is Hakumen's CT too slow to combo off of zantetsu's second hit?

Zantetsu does get prorated. It just doesn't get affected by Hakumen's 60% combo rate during damage calculation along with his Crush Trigger, Tsubaki and Shippu, though it loses it during Mugen while the others minus CT doesn't.

Also, I don't think there are any reasons to make a combo thread yet when a good majority of us don't even have our hands on the game.

Zantetsu ignoring the 60% char combo prorate only occurs on the first hit IIRC, plus the second hit has meh proration. Makes sense to do Zan(1) > CT or Kishuu.

Yeah I'm not sure how I feel about Zantetsu ever since they changed it. The second hit feels completely worthless now. We already have a move that's beneficial to cancel the first hit, it's called Renka.

Although truth be told it did make Zantetsu a hell of a lot scarier as a surprise overhead. I remember how it used to be like "oh no he hit me with Zantetsu quick A+B+C+D before the second hit kills me!" Now it's just like "splat you're dead."

Nothing like killing people instantly from 15% HP with Zantetsu/Tsubaki :D

Pretty much considering Zan(1) airbornes the opponent now too. I guess we can still use it for Zan(1) whiff > Zan(2) hit gimmicks but I suppose they left it in there so Hakumen won't just get free 4k+ combos with just 3 stars.

I like that we can actually use it as a combo part now and not just a surprise overhead.

You can't CT during Mugen anyway.

Second hit has vacuum effect, so it easier to combo of if you are doing Zantetsu at max range. Also, Renka lost its bonus proration so Renka is not as beneficial to cancel anymore.

Zan is pretty easy to combo off of now, I saw something where someone got 3.7k without extra stars.

As for why people like to cancel it with something like CT is because the second hit kills proration to a good extent. I might be wrong about that, but I'm fairly certain.

Mac, I wouldn't worry about making a combo thread right now unless you really want to. People are still figuring stuff out. It would be a shame for anyone to spend so much time on something like a combo thread just to change everything later on. I would say to wait until the japanese console release so some people on DL will be playing it. At the very least, I would wait a little while longer.

Oh ya, and I plan on importing the japanese console release as soon as it comes out (whenever that is, and also assuming it isn't going to be region locked). I have good recording equipment so if you need any video to accompany the thread, I can help out. I feel pretty confident that I should be able to do any combo or tech you want to show off. I'm loving the combo potential for thsi version of Hakumen. I just wish he had more deterring counters.

Yes j2a loops that loop hard and lead to immense damage in the corner. I'm so excited.

So anyone thinks hakumen has the most badass CT in the game? I do, I'm also glad he grabs and takes his scabbard off, because I was also wondering how he would sit down

^Timestamp links are a good idea, but I'd like to humbly request that people still include the actual time to skip to in their posts. Timestamp links don't work on Tapatalk (phone app I and others use to browse DL), so we must still manually skip.

4.5k from 2D? NIIIIIIIIIIIICE.

On CT, I think Hakumen will be a guard crushing machine considering he gets 2 stars WAY faster than other chars get 25%, meaning we can CT much more often. I'll be able to run my GC 6C shenanigans, but with a much better attack :D

Well, he uses CT in a lot of combos though, so it's not like we're going to be having that many stars to spare... going to be needing to save those CTs for when we actually land a hit. Still will be useful though.
