Digital Watches Posted July 24, 2011 Posted July 24, 2011 (edited) Can't make evo, but I'm going to try to make the big august NCI. Edit: Oh hey, I'm with rod on this one, you should totally change the date. Turns out I've got someone's wedding to go to on the 27th. Which leads to the horribly pressing question: Since when am I old enough that my friends are inviting me to their weddings? Edited July 25, 2011 by Digital Watches
Chun Posted July 25, 2011 Author Posted July 25, 2011 I'm in plans to move it to the first Saturday of September. More details as they come about.
RinHara5aki Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 A pushback is alright with me. For people with tickets/requested days off though, I hope they can still make it D:
Crosell Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I think a push forward would better than a push back.
Aginor Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 I'm in plans to move it to the first Saturday of September. More details as they come about. wtf....I was thinking worst case scenario I might have to move then and I might not be able to go. Was planning on that since NCI was 8/20 or 8/27. Well...whatever just decide on a date as soon as possible....
Chun Posted July 26, 2011 Author Posted July 26, 2011 This isn't only about the people, it's about the communication from the Venues we have, and the TO's availability and the guest availability syncing with the promotion. I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
BeaverDeity Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 It's alright. Just need to find out a date ASAP so I can see if I can host a tournament (That's not on NCI's date) before I have to leave out of state for college. :U
huey253 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 really? Sept 6 sounded okay nobody is in school by then
TaoFTW Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 (edited) If you do push back the dates, then you must be ready to deal with the consequences. The Reality: Students are back in school by September 6th. And even if they're not, then many incoming college students are busy trying to shop for their new chapter in life. UCB term starts at August 25th while other UCs let most of their respective on-campus housing students move in starting September 17th. High schools in the FUHSD start their first semester at the third week of August. How did BNCI bring in PNW? It's b/c it was smack dab at the start of their spring break. You have to know your audience and research accordingly. There is a good reason why hosting the minor at August 27th is important to you and your community; you don't conflict with public schools and you give people ample time to recharge from EVO. The majority of the people who attend NCI are students. For students who already started school, they are settled in. For students who are ready to move into school have an extra week to prepare. And if you are salary man, then none of these points matter. tl;dr - changing dates on the notion that it's inconvenient for X number of people can either make or break the turnout; research who are your attendees, the decisions they make, their availability and plan accordingly. Spirit Juice Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 May have to pass on this NCI because I'll probably still be dead from Evo.
Chun Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 (edited) If you do push back the dates, then you must be ready to deal with the consequences. I've been contacting PNW, SoCal, the Venues, and the local usual attendees for the last two and a half months and re-balancing all associated schedules and media for the promotion of the event, on top of planning for the next 3 months into the new season. I already know to cater to every single person's needs is a stretch, and are prioritizing different groups. I'm fully aware of the consequences, and trust that you understand I have things under control, and an event will happen. ~Chun Edited July 27, 2011 by Chun
C0R Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 really? Sept 6 sounded okay nobody is in school by then I guess I can make it, I already took the old days off, I'll go change it.
Chun Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 The main reason August is being pushed back is because A: The Venues have been terrible in communication outside of GameCenter, and B: Most of the SoCal, Local T/O Scene organizers are unable to attend; Rin is currently waiting upon confirmation of most people in attendance to publish a new BBVLOG promotion clip. I regret that this move had to be made, but the circumstances outside my control have left me no choice, and I hope that the September date will meet everyone's expectations of quality. ~Chun
Crosell Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Can't make it. I'll be up in PNW handing out my resume.
Shining Aquas Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I can't go anywhere cause I'll be too busy being at NCI. Is it seriously on the 6th now?
Spirit Juice Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 I just realized that we're all retarded and the 6th is the first Saturday of August, not September. lolz September 3rd is the first Saturday of September.
Chun Posted July 28, 2011 Author Posted July 28, 2011 I just realized that we're all retarded and the 6th is the first Saturday of August, not September. lolz September 3rd is the first Saturday of September. Hurp'd.
