NORCAL INSTALL! [Main Information and Ranbat Update Thread]

First and foremost, I think people are a little unclear, partly because there hasn't been much news, and partly due to some misstatements. The next NCI is Feb 4th. This is a regular NCI (1 day), and it will have the added bonus of the BBRev prelims. The SUPER NCI (2 days), is in March (the weekend of the 18th, I believe). For that we will be inviting players from all over, we will probably have the full set of games for everyone (we can do that with 2 days, now), and generally a good time will be had by all. There will probably be a small discount for venue fee ($12 for the weekend). The two day event would ONLY be for superNCI in our current plans.

Oh, ok.

Still, smaller games should finish on the first day. GG, MB if it's there, etc. It's not like I'm the only one who doesn't want to pay for travel/lodging/venue fee for two days. Let's also keep in mind people are going to have midterms/finals.

If you need someone to run GG brackets, I'm willing to. I probably won't enter the tournament myself, anyways.

Man, I go through the trouble of practicing the new MB only to hear it's probably getting dropped. Sad shit.

I'll play you MB whenever. I think the new MB is beautiful.

The new H-Nanaya is one of the most fun characters that I've ever played in any fighting game.

If anyone is passing through the Rohnert Park area, could I get a ride with you? I can pay for gas/parking/tolls if necessary.

Less than a week till the next NCI if I recall, and nothing on the webpage. How many people have access to update it, out of curiosity?

Is SCV really happening? I thought Norcal hated Soul Calibur.

Not since Namco started marketing it as a titty game rather than a fighting game, apparently.

So who is running SCV??

no idea, sort of tempted to grab it though.

Will not be running scv though. Me and Willy on KOF.

Updating website with EVERYTHING for the next month. Pre-reg should be up soon too.

SUPER NCI Minor in March: 2 Day Event

SCV: Depends on player turnout, AFTER main tournaments

Prizes for BBRev will be posted too.

Damn colds, keeping me down.

Why do we have to wait for the turnout to pick a TO?? You should always have a TO lined up before you see the turnout:v:

It already is lined up.TO = Me or people from sfcalibur who express interest coming into NCI, so rest assured you won't be responsible for it.

melty activity in the bay area is at an all-time low. allow me to remind you guys that i am the current TO for melty and i don't even play melty anymore as my main game is gundam now.

and even if there is a chance of getting enough players to run a tournament, i'm the only one bringing a setup. let me also remind you guys that tsubasa, who was a key contributor and benefactor for the melty scene, now works weekends and can't reliably participate anymore.

I was also wondering why we aren't running SCV with everything else that runs on the cabs?? Given the attendance of AH3 lately, I'd seriously suggest we just make AH3 a later thing and run SCV with BB/KOF. We could just split the cabs to 2 BB, 2 KOF, 2 SCV and then assuming we have BB on Stream and KOF on Scott's recording setup(If he brings it, just an assumption from last NCI), it would be much more beneficial to just have SCV run with everything even though it was given this "experimental Side tourney" status(Which I'm gonna point out makes no sense, side tournies are meant to be cheaper yet its $5 like KOF/BB/Gundam?? Should just go ahead and say its a maingame this month and if it turns a big enough crowd, continue it.) Giving BB 4-5 setups like it had last time was way too much. I always end up making 2 of them Casuals setups cause we go through everything way too fast compared to everything else. Splitting the setups more appropriately would make everything run more smoothly and prevent things from getting too hectic.

These are just my concerns with NCI thus far. I imagine having SCV as an evening side tourney is gonna turn away a LOT of the potential players in the scene from wanting to show up. If we're gonna try and support the scene, we need to be willing to provide the best conditions possible for the scene to participate.

There will be one setup for SCV, which will then grow after the current tournament turnout.

The priority is to finish BB as quickly as possible (Singles and TEAM QUALIFIERS). Then afterwards KOF. After KOF finishes up there would be already 2-3 active cabs for Soul Calibur V (They would trickle in after 2 BB setups are taken away).

Also, AH3 MB and GG numbers have been low. Like before and mentioned on the sheet, cancellation of tournaments is subject if 8 entrants are not registered, simply on time related issues.

Also it makes sense as a side experiment because the 3D fighting game scene and the 2D fighting game scene are somewhat different animals. I'm testing to see the turnout and current schedule changes and how they work out.

The reason for timely registration allows for people to try out games with the venue fee they have paid, and meet others to talk about the game/get familiar. That's the intent, as SCV has only come out a few days ago.

Player cap includes Catherine.
