Mascarpone Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Yo Fox, - To counter assault you press forward on your D pad and then A+B. Sorry fixed. JG: Curious, i know you were doing some playing with big damage combos, how well does carls' damage do if you toss a gold burst in during his new 4D juggle? I'll mess with it myself but i know other members of the cast can bust out stupid damage with gold bursts, just curious how we fare.
ColorlessFox Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 (edited) thank you for counter assult help. When is it best used? secondly Guard break, I've done it occasionally with carl, but i dont know how to follow up a gaurd break properly. I always summon nirvana, do a backways throw (which bounces), Vivice(a), and then claploop.. I'm sure there is much more potential. (sorry to keep scrubing it up.) and on the topic of gold burst, I taught my friend a few gold burst hazama combos I saw in videos.. but, that was just to get him to stop playing noel, I played guilty gear where gold bursting was obvious in what it did.. is it just a damage multiplier here? Zoogstin Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 (edited) If you guard break your opponent and they are sandwiched between you and Nirvana, you can do this in this video I just found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_P7X5ggnKE&feature=channel_video_title#t=1m50s Also this is for everybody to see. Check out how this Carl combos Hakumen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P_P7X5ggnKE&feature=channel_video_title#t=4m40s Edited June 17, 2011 by Zoogstin

Maybe i could try to do my combo from a gold burst as started. Heheheh yeah i were doing some playing with big dmg. With Carl your best option for good dmg are, start the combo with 2]D[ or Brio. With that two, i can managane to get 5K or more. Im starting to get thowed a lot.. i hate that shit.... Worse is that happen with chars that have command throw like bang or hazama. I need to improve my defense and movility T_T

4Corners Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 So I'm trying to do 2a 5b 6b ankle snare 2c roll etc but I can't get the 2c to connect, ever. Only trying it on Jin so far, but I don't get it. If I didn't see that tutorial, I would swear that 2c can't combo after the snare. Tips? I've tried mashing it early and delaying it, but to no avail. Maybe I need to walk forward a little.
Mascarpone Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 it's very low to the ground and for some reason it also works better with nirvanna behind you, I think she pushes you forward just a little. also when you get to it, there's no time for delay between the 2C and the 236a as well as between it and the j.B you, you have to do it very quickly or they'll tech out.

But, can we still get countered by Haku Drive?, because if he can smash out D, that setup is useless. Anyone is having troubles doing the loop against hazama? the final part, j.a, j.a, j.b is hard, the first j,a tend to whiff a lott if you arent near to the ground. Edited June 17, 2011 by JG

Can Hakumen counter the move considering its unblockable. I wouldn't know, but unless this is just a cheesy gimmick there has to be a good reason he's doing that. I consider Hazama easy compared to Ragna. He's hard for me.
Mascarpone Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 the only way i can see this haku set up working is if it's a trick with hit stun proration, where the 6C would normaly combo if it was executed earlier, because you -can- combo 3D -> 6C. (Since the other unblockable works in about the same way) and yeah Ragna (and all the other squat-hit-box targets) are trickier for me. Tall and thin isnt much of a problem.
ColorlessFox Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 (edited) okay, i'll admit i'm seeing it increasingly and it's decided. I need to learn carl's BnB of cs2. The Jb> JC that he uses over and over again, i think it's called a revolover, regardless. can someone put in the exact commands in details for me so i know when to move nirvana forward and when to hit forward for C or B.... If i just hit the back button (when i last tried to learn this combo) i end up moving carl out of the way of the entire string and with too much distance between carl and the person "trapped" the combo breaks cause i miss and they can punish on wiff. Scrubbing it up as always, Colorless. Edited June 19, 2011 by ColorlessFox
ColorlessFox Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 I think i do.. nirvana on the left, carl on the right, carl is in the air for most of the combo using his Jb, to Jc, and it goes for 3 times till he uses Ja Ja Ja and nirvana uses 3d for an oki reset.
Mascarpone Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 the reset is the hard part, the jump loop is easy, the only trick is u cant try to mash it out. it's very delayed/deliberate. but for the most part it's just j.b then j.1C repeate. You use diagonal-back(1) instead of straight down (2) because it pulls Nirvana and the opponent towards you as your attacks are pushing them away, thus allowing them to loop. the only real trick is the delay. and until you learn to do the reset you can just end the loop with j.2C j.B j.C -->preasure/mix up/rhapsody of memories for preasure / 2B 3C cantata to end with damage. Untill you learn to time the unblockable (and it is tricky.)
ColorlessFox Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 (edited) That would be my problem, I though it was JC Neutral (or jc5) I had no idea it was jc2. (or in this case jc1) i kept trying to hit 6 to move carl forward, then hold 4 to move nirvana back... it was very.... unsuccessful. I'll go try it a bit in training. Much thanks.. also you said cantata, I always thought Cantata was the gear special when i read it (cause it's like lantabus cantata or something)... but durring the loke tests people were saying cantata uses more nee-san bar.. so i'm like. OKAY cantata isnt the gear... So what is it? Also, can i ask for a setup or two into the basic jump loop? dorm net doesn't do so good with searching through 30 minuet youtube videos. ^^; On an additional note, I sent you a friend invite on psn toast, prehaps you could help me sometime.. if it's nessicary for lessons, I'd pay actual cash for the tutoring of carl ^^;... I understand he's harder to learn, and i think i'm -decent- but i'm not proficient as cs2 carl by far yet... and with that 8/2 matchup with noel as my most frequent oponent... it's kinda stressful. At least if he's not using noel he uses hazama, which is incredieasy to beat. Edited June 19, 2011 by ColorlessFox

I'm guessing the tp pushes you forward ever-so-slightly? Not at home, so I can't try it right now. Either way, thanks, Zoogs!

Either way, thanks, Zoogs! i telleport her in right after hit1 of cantabile, just before the launch. also sorry dude, but i never play on PSN i own the xBox version.
Zoogstin Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 What where did all my power go? lol Wherever your love for Carl went, which I hear is MIA at the moment. When should I time the tp? She should be appearing behind you before your opponent launches up from the Cantible.
incognegro Posted June 21, 2011 Posted June 21, 2011 What is the trick to get that 3[D] to connect in his air juggle? Okay lets just say challenge 8... I get what is suppose to be done but is there a trick to this sequence(it's where I am stuck at).....2[D]>C>j.B>3[D]>j.C...etc. I want to know what is the trick to getting the j.B>3[D]>j.C to connect. Do I just have to just be fast and input the j.B in rapid sequence with 3[D]? or is there a special way that it should be done.
Mascarpone Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 you actualy don't want to be fast. it's actually very rhythmic, but unfortunately there is no real trick, it's just a practice practice practice issue. just don't try to mash it out; it's a very 1 2 3 kinda thing.

My trick is to press d/f b+d at the same time, so she activates 3d the same time you are doing jb. also, if youre midscreen, try to get her about 2 characters width away while cantabile is activating. that seems to be prime for me. NOW i have a question of my own! When i do the whole challenge 7, it sets up for challenge 8. but when i try to go right in to challenge 8 (8]D[ set up) the 3]D[ ends up in front of the opponent, and i cant do 2c because ada's in the way. any tips? it doesnt happen when i just do challenge 8, only when i proceed from 7 straight into 8. ANY help would be appreciated! : ) Edited June 22, 2011 by AxlRed37
Mascarpone Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 <has not done the challenges, watches match videos>
AxlRed37 Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 challenge 7 is 5b 5c cantabile, 6b Jxx jb jxx jc 3]d[ etc. it ends in 2]d[. challenge 8 is 2]d[ follow up. i find personally, if you are just given the general tools, it allows for more creativity, rather than given the entire game plan along with most of the mixup possiblilities. you end up set in stone as a generally weaker copy of whomever it is you watch. its what happened to me in ssf4 with cody lol.

This is important that when you do the 8C that you jump straight up or you will always fall in-front/behind the character. Thank for all the help with this combo I was doing it the wrong way the whole time finally got it.
