Hokuto no Jersey thread: Fist-pump of the North Shore

I don't really care for this discussion going on, but personally, I didn't really like BlazBlue until Extend. Some of this has to do with Relius (I had the same problem as Justin, I couldn't find a character that "clicked" with me), but I would have played either Tager, Platinum, or Bang if I didn't use Relius, so that's not really all of it. Something about the game just felt off to me, but I don't mind Extend and it's growing on me. Maybe it was just CS1, I really, really, hated CS1, and it's left a bitter taste in my mouth ever since.

I can see where people are coming from. To be honest I loved BB when I was a scrub. Then I met good players and got better, I started to learn things and started to hate stuff about the game. Most of this was because of my character, which I can't lie I did enjoy playing but now he's just... I dunno I can't use him anymore its just more frustrating than fun. So I decided to try and find another, but I couldn't find a character that clicked. Most people in this thread know how many characters i've hopped between, still haven't found one. I'm giving BB a shot with Mu now and I like it so far but there are still a few things in the game that irk me (most have already been mentioned so I'm not gonna bother restating them). I'll say this though, once I sat down and actually started trying out stuff in GG I fell in love. The system mechanics in there feel so right and I have characters I like playing (and then there is potemking). To be honest playing MB I found a character I like, playing GG I've found a character I like. I'd be training mode hard in GG if I had a copy, and I'm already training mode hard in MB. I feel like I owe it to BB for getting me to where I am, but I'm finding it harder and harder to justify playing it as I just can't settle on a character. For now I'll try Mu and see, but I'm pretty much just waiting on games like aquapazza, P4U, Unib, and maybe chaos-code.

Venom is hard to combo with.

the 6P6H[2]8S(might be H?) loop is really hard. for some reason or other it feels like charging is [2]8 is longer than the charge time for May's.. IMO

you can do a lazy version which is like corner throw > dash 6P6H P-ball summon, small dash 6P (hits ball into him)6H(hits right after P ball hits) and end with K mad struggle, which gives you really good oki. (jK on the way up to kick the mad struggle ball, which hits meaty, and you can either do land low, or falling air dash for high)

as for real combos, I donno. I see the japanese do all kinds of wonky shit like combos into ball summons > telports etc. but have no idea if they're like char specific or anything like that.

if I can remember, when I stumble upon good venom in videos, I'll link you to them.

for that venom loop, l remember holding 2 as soon as l pressed 6hs, then letting the 6hs recover a little before pressing 8hs.

wasnt there a really baller venom named nanashi or something? he wore blue.

Unfortunately for Venom, mid-screen you can't do much. Basically, anything into 5HS > Dubious Curve or 2D > ball summon. If you can get close enough to hit with c.5S, then you can launch with the 3rd hit and do some 6P > 6H > [2]8S shenanigans.

Now, once you carry the opponent to the corner, that's when the fun starts. If you hit them with Force Break Mad Struggle (j.236D) then you can go into my favourite combo:

j.236D > 6P > 6H > P ball > 6H > 623K > j.h or j.d (kinda character and spacing specific) > 6H > P ball > dash f.5S > dubious curve or force break double head morbid (421D).

I wish I had a way to record so I could show you some stuff, but unfortunately I don't. Hopefully one day you can see me in action! =D

The gathering on 4/6 is actually pretty far from NY (about 2 hours, maybe more), one way (so 4 hours total), and they can't crash at Justin's place, so I wouldn't blame them for not coming. Ril's place is a lot more accessible for the NY people, plus they can take the train down.

That being said, if do they decide to come, that would be cool.

midscreen with venom you can also do blah blah blah into 2d 4, 6 s 6frc6 if you have meter including 2d 4, 6 s 6frc6 6p 6h 2, 8 2 s 6h into any ball summon..

but rather than combos the first things with venom that you should focus on IMO is ball setups for zoning and oki then later using them in cool looking teleport combos

oh yeah , and for the 6p 6h cr loop it takes a while to get down...may's dumb ass loop is easier that it ... cuz you have to actually input it as 6p6h, do that as 1 fast input venom is actually is in the animation of 6h you should already be charging 2(1)(3) and by the time the 6h is actually bouncing them off the ground go straight to the 8(9) s crisply , if that explanation makes any sense....

I think this also works with throw starter? i'm too lazy to fire up the ps2 to confirm...

okay wasn't so lazy after all it works off: 2d 46 s frc , 5d 8,8 j.d land 6p 6hs etc, 6h CH,

basically anything where 6p and 6h connect off the maximum height it can hit the character

i'm really having trouble getting this to work of a throw maybe if you do 5 s 2 -3 hits after throw then 6p ?? but i'm not sure cus i tried that and it not working even on light weights i dunno i pretty tired right now so it could just be my execution, but off 236 d it works like a charm

Well, since j.236D is high, I usually mix it up with 2D to go low. The 2D combo is basically the same, but the start is: 2D (1 hit) > [4]6H > FRC > 6P > 6H...

If you get a c.5S hit, you can also do the combo. c.5S (3 hits) > 6P > 6H...

Those are my usual starters. If you catch someone in the air with 6H, you can summon a P ball straight away and again go into the same combo.

It's basically anything into that combo

I also have a version of that combo that includes 6P > 6H > [2]8S, but it seems no one wants to learn that =_=
