bbq sauce Posted April 11, 2011 Author Posted April 11, 2011 I was thinking about learning Bang, and abusing lag mix ups and just mashing 5A out of pressure to see how far I get.. But I think you have to pay to enter. D:
Ril I am Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I am looking for a top tier or at least a better than average fighting gaming friend--specifically SSF4 & MvC3. I play on PSN, but it doesn't matter if you have an Xbox or what not. I'm looking to pick your brain, watch you play, and then go over some basic and advanced things & be your (hopefully good and maybe even best, who knows??) friend as well. Aside from gaming, I graduated from UNC and I'm going to State in the fall. I run a 5K in 27:00, so I'm not fast but I keep myself in good shape. I recently ended things with my GF and I'm not eager to find any female companionship outside of the normal needs right about now. I do have guy friends, and they game some, but none of them are as high level as I am as far as First Person Shooters--or gaming in general. Right now I only play MW2 on XBL and my k/d is a 3.95, close to 200 nukes, and I can literally run any play style at this point. I've been a top tier FPS player since I was in 9th grade, but I've played them since 7th grade. I played a PC game (TFC which is a Half-Life Mod--which is the nerd lingo for add-on... not cheat) and was in the 7th best American clan and the 17th best European clan by the time it was all said and done. The euro clan was more impressive as I had to account for lag at all points and Europeans were better at that game than Americans. My euro clan would've been top 8 US. In Halo 2, I was in the 3rd best online clan (according the the Bungie leader boards) and we didn't cheat. I gamed at a high level in Halo 3 reaching 50 easily multiple times on multiple accounts and my numbers in MW2 speak for themselves. Basically FPS's are starting to bore me and with the state of these games right now, I really just don't like the FPS community anymore. After the black ops launch, I started to realize how much FPS developers have really started to get away from their core values in order to even out the playing field and make sub-par gamers become at least average now $$$. Not everyone is supposed to be good and the randomness and inconsistencies across most FPS's as of late have gotten me to the point where I'm ready to put the controller down for a fightstick. I could literally talk your head off about why FPS's have pissed me off recently with unbalanced balance, but I'll keep it short. If that's something that interests you, I can definitely teach you what I look for and how I approach all FPS's and help you become a better gamer than what you are. My playing style isn't about how well you can aim either, it's all about a strategical approach. Right now I only own MvC3 on PS3, but I will get a madcatz TE fightstick and SSF4 (FOR PS3 even though I have an Xbox) within the next 3 weeks once I get my first paycheck for a new job that I'm starting at the end of the week. I work 20 hours a week M-F and I'll be free for the summer as it's only a temporary position--which is good because I'll be a full-time student in the fall. I live at home and will continue to do so until I enroll in grad school which should be within the next year and a half. I would prefer you live in the Durham/Chapel Hill area, but if you live in Raleigh then I could commute. For a number of reasons you would not want to game in my house, so I'm hoping we can game at yours. I have a small HDTV and I can easily pack my stuff up xbox/ps3 and take it just about anywhere. Please don't be an average gamer here as I'm starting fresh with fighting games, and if I have a much higher ceiling than you, then that's pointless because I'll surpass you rather quickly. I am a gamer and I want to understand the game and get competitive on a sort of high level. I don't care if you're 18 or older than me, like I said, this isn't me wanting to hook-up with a dude because I like girls. I curse like a sailor, don't give a damn about being politically correct, and I'm just a regular guy for the most part. BAD WORDS (edit) are all part of my regular everyday vernacular. You have to be able to handle that stuff because that's just part of me venting my frustrations as I learn the games and get bullshitted. Keep in mind that I am starting SSF4 from scratch. I'm decent at MvC3, but I haven't really played a lot of ranked matches. I've been trolling the bottom and getting my team together. I already have the new avenger achievement/trophy and I've done 10 missions with 24 characters while playing on a regular ps3 controller. Trust me, I might be new to fighting games, but my aptitude is pretty high. I'm all for learning frames, timing, and whatever other nuances you may know. Just hit me up and teach me the ways of pwnage. I have a youtube channel so you can see my MvC3 skills, but I will definitely get better once I get and adjust to a fightstick. You don't have to be anything like me aside from a patient gamer and a non-criminal/sketchy person. I definitely don't want to be around a deviant. I have too much going for me right now to involve myself with such madness. I don't do any drugs or drink sodas. So to some extent I'm definitely a purist and I don't want to get in any legal trouble ever. I don't care if you drink sodas or smoke cigarettes or anything like that, but I just wanted you to know where I stand. So just keep all of that in mind and just send me an e-mail. I will say this because I've gotten this before all of the time when people found out how good I was at H2 on campus, to some extent gaming cannot be taught. If you're an average or below average gamer who just wants me to teach you to be good at FPS's and you're not already successful at any type of competitive game, then you're barking up the wrong tree--and that isn't the purpose of this post. I want to learn SSF4 & MvC3 and possibly teach you how to play FPS's. I'm only interested in MvC3, SSF4, and possibly MK9 though I've always detested Mortal Kombat. We will and need to be friends outside of gaming, but I definitely want gaming to be a large part of it and hopefully we'll make each other better. P.S. I DON'T EVER WANT TO PLAY IN ANY TOURNAMENTS, SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT HAVING ANY COMPETITION FROM ME if that is a reservation. I played in few tourneys regionally and at college while I played H2. Though I won most and my lowest placing was second, I just did not enjoy the tournament scene hence me only playing in 4 and foregoing playing in a national tourney which I qualified for. I just don't want to do that at all. I want to advance and play with and learn from good players locally so I can do well online. :vbang: :psyduck:
Alzarath Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I had some coke yesterday guys, does that make me a bad person D:
St1ckBuG Posted April 11, 2011 Posted April 11, 2011 I'm going to take one of his paragraphs and change a few things... let's see if you can spot the differences... "Basically FG's are starting to bore me and with the state of these games right now, I really just don't like the FG community anymore. After the marvel vs. capcom 3 launch, I started to realize how much FG developers have really started to get away from their core values in order to even out the playing field and make sub-par gamers become at least average now $$$. Not everyone is supposed to be good and the randomness and inconsistencies across most FG's as of late have gotten me to the point where I'm ready to put the controller down for a rum and coke. I could literally talk your head off about why FG's have pissed me off recently with unbalanced balance, but I'll keep it short. If that's something that interests you, I can definitely teach you what I look for and how I approach all FG's and help you become a better gamer than what you are. My playing style isn't about how well you can execute either, it's all about a strategical approach." He HAS to be trolling... I bet he plays Pheonix.
bbq sauce Posted April 11, 2011 Author Posted April 11, 2011 "but I'll keep it short." I would hate to see him express his thoughts in full....

St1ckBuG Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Rob, wtf are you doing with your life... Man, that 'up next' video looks pretty awesome.
Zoogstin Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 You guys tripping out over that bryri post too? I honestly didn't know how to react to such a post when he posted it on SRK. I kind of wonder if he's actually going to come to our gatherings if some of our guys can actually convince hiim?
Alzarath Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Trolling or not, let me sum up his post for anyone and everyone: wtf? lmao
10stars Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Been playing marvel. Weeklies and stuff. For a game with a community, nah meen? We have more tournaments in one month than we've had gg or bb gatherings in 3 years.

Rhiya Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Bro, you just said Marvel was good in a thread with nonderp players be more careful
Mindgam3 Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 A very fun game with a large community. Just a bunch of drug abusin' soda pop drinkin' criminals if you ask me.
Alzarath Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 He said *fun*, not *good*. L2Read. Btw I don't think MvC3 is a bad game per se... just needs work. Really now... every new game that comes out = ass? lol. 10stars we need to play some time.

Really now... every new game that comes out = ass? lol. 10stars we need to play some time. Come to the break. And marvels pretty good overall. Everyones broken so everyone can win. No ones really overly dominant and there's only a few really bad characters. You can tune a team to play however you want Really. The only thing that needs reworking is xfcs. Anchoring is pretty fucking gay.
Nini Heart Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Just a bunch of drug abusin' soda pop drinkin' criminals if you ask me. They be jus' like me, so we coo'
mikenapalm Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Really now... every new game that comes out = ass? lol. Did you really think anyone here would say anything other than yes? Lol
St1ckBuG Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 MvC3 would look a little more serious if XFC wasn't so derp. BTW, it's my Birthday today. Bow to me.
Zoogstin Posted April 12, 2011 Posted April 12, 2011 Very few people hate on Arcana Heart other than it being a loli game. Interms of whether its good or not, the worst I every hear anybody say about it is that LOOKS boring. Its one of the few games where the quality of the game isn't looked too down upon. I don't play it though. Happy Birthday Stick.
