hakimiru Posted March 24, 2012 Posted March 24, 2012 I'm gonna be staying with my parents for about a week starting this Saturday. I don't know if you would want to drive all the way from Poway to my place, which is literally less than 3 miles from the border. If it's just gonna be us two, we just can mash it up on Xbox Live. I'm also gonna try and hopefully get my two friends to join us. One of them doesn't have a car so it's hard for him to go places. The other guy has ways to get around and lives around Ichi's area, but he seems like he has been pretty busy lately. I'll ask them what times of the week they're available and I'll try to work something out. Maybe next week then >_< I don't actually have a console or game right now. And if any of you guys are along the way to Frubble, I don't mind grabbing you as I go down or something~

Plus I'm on Spring Break too.
glod Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 I think I've got that Arakune curse combo that you taught me mostly down, Watermelonz. The hardest part is the dives and they still kind of come out wrong sometimes, but that's already the 4 or 5k damage point so it doesn't make the combo a complete waste.
jinxhand Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Hey how many of you guys would be willing to show up next Monday at CO??? We had sessions yesterday, and I'm still interested in getting/showcasing the GG/BB and MB scenes and hopefully building some sort of hype... Aside from running KoF, I did some Battle Fantasia also, and was testing both SFEX2+ and MBAACC on my laptop, and it got some people a bit interested in at least wanting to try the game out eventually... Anyway, hit me up, and let me know if you guys are down for that...
hakimiru Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Can't, I live up north and work late on weekdays. Sorry :<
Jigoku_Roa Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Same here, Live north and school and work are in the way. Questions about for the Facebook Group: - I know I said "no Capcom games", but I will let one game in from Capcom, DarkStalkers (aka Vampire Savior) since it's been very "in the dark" as a Capcom game. And have no clue if we should add Tekken or not. (same popularity and fanbase as Capcom's games and risen popularity since teaming with Capcom.) - I'm going to work on a poster for the group to hang at Frubble this week, you guys want "The San Diego AirDashers (SDAD)" as the group name? I'm only doing this just in case of Shtkn agrees on it when he gets back, so I don't get caught up with everything for it and I have a lot of free time due to Spring Break. (seriously I'm bored out of my mind at home, I need to do something.)

Anyway, hit me up, and let me know if you guys are down for that... I can! Just let me know the time and I will definitely come. Roa: I think it might be better to not say "no capcom games" just because that sort of excludes a lot of people, but maybe word it somehow in a way that says that's not our focus.
Jigoku_Roa Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 So just say "A group of various gamers in San Diego who plays in different fighting games." (plz someone come up something shorter and/or better, since that's the best I can get with it.)
Wild Wallice Posted March 28, 2012 Posted March 28, 2012 Glod: It usually starts at 7PM. https://maps.google.com/maps/place?q=Comic+Odyssey+of+San+Diego,+National+City,+CA&hl=en&cid=5373770670792729648 Theres a link to them on google maps. Roa: Call it Dustloop San Diego. We're specifically catering to people who play the games on Dustloop, at least for the time being. Don't say anything like "no capcom games" or anything like that. Just keep it simple and highlight what we actually DO play, not what we don't. Go ahead and do the poster too, but let us see the final product before we go plastering it around. And last thing, none of this gets off the ground till Shtkn comes back, since he is the final authority. Last thing, to everyone: On the front page of DreamCancel, I saw a newspost that linked to a recording of James Chen and Ultradavid talking about "other games" or lesser played games, their communities, and how to build them. Apparently they have their own little talk show thingy, and they regularly do shoutouts to various communities trying to get more recognition out there. So, I was thinking I can send them an email and suggest they try and mention that SD does in fact play Blazblue, Guilty, MB, and others at Frubble on Fridays. What do we think of this idea? I think it might actually catch some people who don't bother coming to Dustloop at all, yet still play those games.
Jigoku_Roa Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Ok just finish the poster, I'm not happy with it since I only had Photoshop experience for one quarter, and the colors are bit off since it's originally made for CMYK colors and this is RGB but when it's printed it will look great. Trust me. Tell me what to change on this or what needs to improve on.
Wild Wallice Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 Roa: Change the "Dustloop San Diego" red to a brighter one or a different color, it really doesn't stand out and is difficult to see compared to the background. Cut out the bottom part where there is a line and the colors change. There is nothing there. The poster should end after where it says "and other games as well." In stead of "we cater to" blah blah blah, instead say "We play games like" -logos- "and more!" I think you did a very good job so far though. DS: I'll be going, but I'm already in the OC area so I can't give you a ride. Maybe Haki can take you, if he feels like coming.
Jigoku_Roa Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 I forgot to mention that the blue bottom is for the facebook information, I still need to make that, and I'll make the necessary changes tonight.

I think it's a great idea to try and get it mentioned.
Wild Wallice Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 If any of you were planning on coming to Xie's Rebel Up event, don't bother. Super Arcade canceled it for whatever reason.
Ichipoo Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 I think it would be better if you change it to "We cater to people who play a diverse range of fighting games" or something of the sort. The former sounds a bit exclusive and I'm not all for that. Just my two cents though, but yeah, I too think shtkn should take a look at this before we actually implement any of this. Other than that good job Roa. /comesoutoflurking
Jyosua Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Man, why is this thread so much more alive than the SoCal thread? When and where do you guys have casuals? When I move to Cali this summer, I might consider making the drive to your casuals.
Wild Wallice Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 (edited) Scene has less people, they have to be more active to make up for it I guess. We have casuals at Frubble on Fridays from 7PM to 12:30AM. We'd be more than happy to have more people around. We look forward to seeing you. EDIT: Btw I posted about our sessions in the BB Socal Facebook. We might get more people at the next few sessions. Edited April 1, 2012 by Wild Wallice
glod Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Just a warning though, our casuals tend to be smaller/nonexistent during school holidays since a lot of us are college kids, so summer might be a little empty. I know I'll probably be around for at least a week or two mid-summer but other than that I won't be showing up to those.
Jyosua Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Well, I'm just looking for a new scene to play with once I get to Cali. I'm graduating college here in Florida, and I've got a job lined up but it's in the Mojave. So I need shit to do on the weekends to keep me from going crazy. :P I also plan on getting a lot better at BB once I graduate. I'll be moving out there in early July. It's like a 3 hour drive to the area you guys are in, but that's not all that bad.
Wild Wallice Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I'm back in SD now guys. If any of you want to show up to CO tomorrow, let me know so I can bring a setup. As far as I know it hasn't been canceled. Ugh, now I need to learn how to play this game again.
shtkn Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 lol i'm the final authority now? also, i'll show up tomorrow, just call or remind me if i don't show up, i'm still pretty jet lagged so i'm prone to forgetting for a day or two.

Ugh, now I need to learn how to play this game again. I talked to the owner on Wednesday, and it's still a go... I'll keep you guys posted... Bring a setup if you can please, we can get either GG or BB going next to KOF and Melty Blood if people are interested... I'm personally interested in "flavoring" the area with good solid games and supporting the scenes that are supporting those games... sfxt ain't doing so hot in some areas, so let's strike while the iron is hot...
glod Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 I'll be coming tomorrow too, so if you could bring your setup and stuff that'd be great. And I can probably make mondays at CO a regular thing, too.
Jigoku_Roa Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 (edited) 2nd update of poster: Revise plz... Edit: I want to mention that my family will be having a baby shower at my house and wanted me to bring friends this Saturday, I will be bored to death since I can't leave if I don't have others who play video games, all we're doing is just staying in my room and play video games, that's it. If you guys are available on Saturday give me a call and there will be free food. Edited April 2, 2012 by Jigoku_Roa
