San Diego's thread of meetups every Friday Night at SD Saltmines

Its alright Jyosua, I did something similar. I did not spend any more time on the floor than I had to really. I didn't like being boxed in that corner for so long and I wasn't about to wait in a long line for casuals at stations that were cramped and sometimes without chairs. I wish I had been able to keep up on whether or not there were any casuals suites going on, but everyone I asked about going to Dacid's on Friday couldn't tell me what was happening or wasn't going, and it was the same with the Gamecenter suite on Saturday night as well. I pretty much spent most of my time hanging out with friends from Arizona playing KoF or with the guy I was staying with playing blackjack. Next year I'm going to try and be a bit more in the know with whats going on so it doesn't look like I simply disappeared for the entire weekend. I hope all of you that went (Shtkn, Roa, Johnny, Jyosua) had a great time, I know I enjoyed myself.

Oh, and P4A was pretty cool. I think I might enjoy that game.

Next year I hope the BYOC area isn't fucking shittastic. If we had chairs for all the stations and a little more room, I might've spent more time at the BlazBlue area.

Glad you guys who played P4A liked it. I'll probably be spending a lot of time on it when it comes out, hopefully the netcode isn't bad.

My stick finally broke down :(. I tried re-soldering the thing, but to no avail. Only 4 of buttons work and 2 of them have a tendency to get stuck. Oh well, I guess it's for me to save up and get a new stick.

Also, I'm gonna try and contact my friends and see if they can come this Friday.

Is it the buttons or the PCB? Don't replace the whole damn thing! Stick parts are interdchangeable... a new button is like 7 bucks or less.

Watermelonz, if you would like, I can bring my big box of shit that I use to mod sticks and see if I can fix yours on Friday. If not, I would urge you to get an Eightarc Fusion. Problem is they cost 185 dollars. Quite pricey. If you want to shave off about 90 extra dollars, you can get a Paewang Revolution stick from eTokki.com, and then order Sanwa buttons and stick for 40 dollars and mod that. Problem is that eTokki is in Korea, so you'll probably be charged extra for the international shipping, so I don't know whether or not that will end up saving you that much at all.

Whatever you do, please please please get a dual modded stick so that we don't end up with stick shortage situations anymore.

Double post because I want people to pay attention to this:

On Friday I will be opening my place up for some casuals before we all head out to Frubble. Buddy expressed interest in coming over to practice on Friday afternoon, so I figure anybody else who has the time or is in the area can feel free to show up and play as well.

Currently I don't know exactly what time I'll be able to open up my place at, but I will edit this post to let you guys know. See you Friday.

Cool. Assuming you have the muscles built up for it, I can see a lot of inputs being faster on the hitbox compared to stick. More accurate too, although diagonals seem like they might take some getting used to depending on the shortcuts.

So I think I'm too tired to make the drive to San Diego after work tomorrow. I'm worn out between Evo and work. Need a break. Maybe next week.

I can't imagine trying to do a 720 on a hitbox. I guess it depends on what kind of characters you use but that thing looks intimidating to me.

edit: looking at it again I guess it wouldn't be that bad, but DPs would still take some getting used to

apparantly i cant get the hitbox till after 8 tonight, so i'll have to step out of frubble early to pick it up then come back.

Well that will certainly be interesting.

Also, if you guys plan to come to my place, come at 3ish. 3:30 would be best probably, since I've got some stuff to take care of first.

Some unfortunate news for our venue from Mark (the owner of Frubble):

"The Titanic sank, the Roman Empire fell, R.E.M. broke up and I am sadly announcing the fall of the Frubble Epicness. Frubble will serve it's last drink on July 23, 2012 at 9:59 PM. It has been an amazing adventure and we have met some incredible people. Thank you all so much for your kindness and support. note : any shows booked before the 24th of July will still go on, any booked after unfortunately will not be at Frubble. Please use any and all coupons before the night of the 23rd, I want to make sure I honor everything out there if possible."

Looks like we need to switch spots after the 23rd :(

well that is sad news...

i guess after that we can use my place once again, though i'd rather we find another venue for the sake of space.

That is some terrible news :<

Although judging by how packed the place always was on Fridays, I guess it was somewhat inevitable...

Any idea what the Box Arena guys are going to do?

hitbox keeps hurting my fingers... i'm getting better with it, but i still feel like i'm going at a fraction of what i'm usually capable of.

Buddy and I are heading out to Frubble early tonight. Should get there around 5ish. If any of you are free and want to come out and play early, feel free.

Im leaving work now and I'll head there as soon as I grab my setup

Me, Watermelonz and co. just got home safely. :)

Shame about Frubble closing, it will be missed, hope we'll find another venue soon, and shoutouts to Extend on the PSP being hype.

So apparently you can do legit team-style matches in Player Match mode online? When did this happen? How did I miss this? *mind is blown*

We should definitely do this one of these days.
