bbq sauce Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Paying a stripper to have sex with you =/= picking up a stripper though, which is what seem people think. That was my point lol
unsanctifier Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Pickup a stripper money matches. Taking any and all offers.
Chris Chaos Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Pickup a stripper money matches. Taking any and all offers. Is this a Team evolution, or a One-Man Event? LOL, JK. Back on subject: OK I got my rooms in the Rio already, there is no doubt this thing is in the Rio right; it won't change venue's last minute will it? (Sorry if it sounds like a dumb question but, I've had this happen to me before at another event awhile back...)
St1ckBuG Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Unless the Rio burns down you should be good to go.
CakeWasBannedd Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Unless the Rio burns down you should be good to go. you just had to go and jinx it didn't you
unsanctifier Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I swear it has nothing to do with me and ATG.
ATG Warlord Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I swear it has nothing to do with me and ATG. shhhhhhh
St1ckBuG Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 We should start a list on the first page with who has registered (or coming) to EVO for BB. This would give us a good idea of the numbers we're actually getting. It would also let us know if it's possible to run a side event. Too many people interested in a side event on the off-day would probably make it impossible to run, unless we somehow manage to get enough resources to do it: get to the BYOC area early to secure setups, have enough people to volunteer, etc... I think a smaller/shorter event would do better than an all-day thing... like a 2v2/3v3 single elimination tournament or something. A double-elim tournament would just add to the time for possible things to go wrong. The shorter the event, the better.
ZONG_one Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I'll be there, St1ckBuG. (^_^) Miss you guys btw. BAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Spirit Juice Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Unless the Rio burns down you should be good to go. Ironically enough, during the year Evo was at the Rio, the fire alarm went off on our floor at like 4 AM in the morning. Wasn't very fun. Fortunately it was just a false alarm.
Sophisticat Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Montreal is debating whether or not we should go. We've got a couple obstacles though, especially money. Any EC guys know how to keep costs extra low even when including plane tickets? We're pretty much looking at $1k/person right now all told, and that's a hell of a lot...
St1ckBuG Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 I was just looking at plane ticket costs as well and they're up over $500 right now, which is pretty ridiculous. Also, ironically enough, I was reading an article on when plane tickets seem to cost the least... I would also suggest: -Waiting a couple more months before buying your plane tickets. -Stuff as many people into a room as possible (and play RPS to see who gets bed). I'm not sure if this would make a difference, but how far of a drive is the closest US airport to you guys? It might be cheaper to drive and fly than rather just flying.
Sophisticat Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 Closest US airport is likely 100-150km away minimum, we'd have to look into it. Thanks for the tips, the plane ticket is really what drives up the price for us. The cheapest we've seen here is more or less ~$650. It's a big deterrent for poor students. :\
unsanctifier Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 you can get tickets much cheaper if you look around and pick on the right days sophis more importantly you can all just road trip it in a bigger car or two if you don't happen to find cheaper tickets xD
MacArthur Blunts Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 (edited) sigh... you guys are acting like children. knock it off. anyways. now that bbcs is going to be there, there's one more issue we should discuss... a GGAC side tourney! would ppl be interested? who can bring setups and whatnot? This would be a deciding factor on if I am going. I can bring a setup. I can also bring my awesome Slayer and have money to MM people. EDIT: If teams can happen.. TEAMS BABY! Edited January 31, 2011 by MacArthur Blunts
Sophisticat Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 ^^ I've considered that, but Vegas is 4200km away from us. Gas comes down to ~$130/per if we can cram 8 in a minivan, but I'll be damned if we could do that for 40h straight. A round trip would take us a whole week. That's a lot of time off work to ask for, not to mention it being exhausting. :\
unsanctifier Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 It is all abuot what you're willing to do. That's it. MacArthur, I've always wanted to see you play Slayer in person. If you're going my evo trip just got that much more hype.

Send LK a PM asking him if he still has the site bookmarked, but I'm pretty sure this is the site he's tried to use in the past. All you have to do is get them to verify that you are a student and you've got yourself some cheap tickets to EVO. The approval process takes a couple days IIRC, so don't sit on this for 7 months and try to do it last minute. I'm not sure if it applies to you though, since your school is in Canada. Edit: 5. Are students of non-US/Canadian schools eligible to purchase? Yes! If you have a school-issued (ending .edu) email address join here. If you do not have a school-issued email address join here. If you do not see your school listed, we would be happy to add it to our site. Note: To be added, your school must be accredited by an independent/government body, and offer degrees of some kind. (Located on their FAQ page.) Edited January 31, 2011 by St1ckBuG
Chris Chaos Posted January 31, 2011 Posted January 31, 2011 It is not looking cheap for tickets; I settled for a package with 2 tickets and 2 hotels on the strip for a little over $1,600. I expected this and began saving since the beginning of last year for it and I am getting out of the service in early July so I don't have anything scheduled holding me back. I didn't want to run into any problems luckily, it paid off and I got to get hotels in Rio (unless it burns down as St1ckBuG was saying earlier, my luck would be that bad...) because I planned ahead. Looking at a few flights from Montreal, it looks like you're gonna kick out at Least $500 per person for flying out of there, the cheapest I saw was $469 after taxes and that's leaving out a place to crash... I really hope to see you there bro and you got time, I mean the event is at the end of July.
Sophisticat Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 Thanks a lot for the info! <$500 tickets could just be the sweet spot we're looking for. There's still another bunch of obstacles, but lowering the cost is probably the most important one. Hopefully we'll be able to make it and show what the up-and-coming MTL scene is made of.
Senkei Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 I know Hotnix and I are going to EVO for BB. Already got my room and shit. Other FL players I don't know 100%
blk_mage Posted February 21, 2011 Posted February 21, 2011 So I'm about to book my room and I'm wondering if I should just do Friday and Saturday night or if I should also do Thursday and/or Sunday night. What usually goes on Friday and what time does it usually start?
