SoWL Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 nobody else noticed that they misspelled eltnum as elthum in the console OP?Considering that her name is usually spelled as Eltnam outside of UNiB, that's not something she's not used to.
raziel12 Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 idk why but Byakuya kinda reminds me of Misogi Kumagawa from ( medaka box ) i get that kind of vibe from him
SoWL Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 「Because he fits the same archetype and got exactly the same voice.」
LordSpectreX Posted June 20, 2014 Posted June 20, 2014 The anime archetype of constantly smirking high school Grade-A douchebag. See also: Nozumi from Accel World; http://img.olocorp.org/ia/accelworld20re.jpg
Sourenga Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Tournament begins on LeisureLand Akihabara's Twitch channel soon. Today is 2on2 if I'm not mistaken... Edit: Nah, it was singles and Senaru won. Next tournament will be on July 21th.
Ghost Cobra Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Byakuya looks nice definitely giving him a run day1 out the box. love the whole spider thing and lub me some trap combos
Lucid_Nightmare Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 To me, Byakuya is like Yu Narukami(Persona) mixed with Gremmy(Bleach): +
Akujikan Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 As someone who likes characters like Testament and Mu 12, I will likely have to give Byakuya a shot. Nanase seems to be joining the group of more basic characters, but she may end up being a lot of fun to play. More than anything, I'm curious as to what these characters are going to have in the way of unique or passive abilities, like Hyde's chip damage normals, Gordeau's GRD steal or Vatista's counter-hit negation.
F. Wily Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Official site updated! Nanase gameplay movie Byakuya gameplay movie No Nanase's theme, but Byakuya's theme is sounding cool. Tsukuyomi also speaks in Byakuya's battle intro,,, I wonder who voices her. Seriously Sourenga, you are godlike.... never change. The only two things that stand out is this... I think that the series needs an update to the OST that isn't on iTunes. And damn to I want to see more game-play of Byakuya... creapy as hell as he is.
thiz Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Have they announced a PSN version? Will I be able to get it on the jpn psn? Importing to europe is kind of expensive as hell...
Wokker Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 There will be a physical and digital version, don't worry.
thiz Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 There will be a physical and digital version, don't worry. Can you link me to any announcement for this, so I can stop being paranoid about it? :3
SoWL Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 It was announced along with the console release itself:http://www.famitsu.com/news/201404/24052150.htmlCheck the ダウンロード版 at the bottom.
White Man Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 (edited) To me, Byakuya is like Yu Narukami(Persona) mixed with Gremmy(Bleach) He reminds me a little of Sojiro from Rurouni Kenshin as well. Looks interesting. 4gamer arcticle of the same news, but with different screenshots http://www.4gamer.net/games/255/G025555/20140616043/ Have those Astral Heat-esque finishing moves always been in the game, or are those new for the console version? EDIT: Looking more closely at the screencaps, I guess they're not finishing moves... More like some kind of super desperation moves? Either way, I don't recall seeing them before. Pichy Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Those are Infinite Words EXS. They cost 200 EXS and can only be performed when low on health (below 25% I think). Input's just hitting all four buttons at once, at which point a big pillar of light surrounds you for the hitbox, making this a universal reversal option when low on health and with plenty of meter. Pretty much Yuzu's only reversal. They scale a bit worse in combos than the regular 200 EXS supers (the infinite words), so that reversal function's pretty much the only time you see them. Before EXE:Late they functioned differently. They were astral heats then. The change was made so the things would actually have a practical, albeit situational use. Think of them as KOF02 HSDMs.
Akujikan Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Edit: Ninja'd Have those Astral Heat-esque finishing moves always been in the game, or are those new for the console version? EDIT: Looking more closely at the screencaps, I guess they're not finishing moves... More like some kind of super desperation moves? Either way, I don't recall seeing them before. They have always been in the game, but they're a little odd. When the game was very first released they were finishing moves, since they basically had all the same requirements of an Astral Heat, but they weren't very practical since the only way to activate it was to hit your opponent with a fully charged Veil Off spark from 200% meter (I think the only character I ever saw combo into his was Carmine). Now, in the EXE-Late update, they were changed to a desperation super that has its own kind of Veil Off spark. It requires the user to be at less than 30% HP, have 200% meter and will either consume your GRD Vorpal or put you into GRD Break if you don't have Vorpal. They all do fairly high damage, but the damage scaling on them is horrific, so its only ever used as a true last ditch effort reversal and almost never in combos. For most characters or players there are better ways to spend your meter defensively, so we don't see a lot of them in videos.

BladeOfJustice7 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 I took one look at Byakuya, and I knew he was some sort of sociopathic shounen highschooler. That adorable young face of his combined with that boyish cute hair style, is the face and appearance is that of a sociopathic murderer if anime has taught me anything. He seems to be trap oriented, the Testament/Rachel of UNiB I guess. I like his spider theme, very slick.

He spends 40 seconds trying to get in only to get knocked back and struggle for 40 more D: That is kind of how that match plays out... the Hilda player can't let Akatsuki into her blind spot (which is anything at close range) because he has just enough to just pick her apart should that happen constantly. So Akatsuki has to work like a dog to just get in against anyone that know what they are doing, because once he's in... Hilda's only options to push him off is with Guard Thrust (which burns bar and Vorpal) or Attacking (which risks a trade that he can work with). Has anyone seen Hilda's FF?

Yea, I watched a few matches later on and saw another Akatsuki player pick Hilda apart when he got in.
Appledash- Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Buuuut he usually dies horribly because Akatsuki has more trouble getting in on anyone than any other character, much less Hilda. He doesn't have Wald's massive tube arms to rely on after all. He can't run either. Takes a real trooper to play Akatsuki. Sent from my RM-917_nam_usa_100 using Tapatalk

Not widely used much though. http://in-birth.wikia.com/wiki/Hilda_(Gameplay)#Force_Function
caiooa Posted June 23, 2014 Posted June 23, 2014 Not so sure about it now. Senaru have used akatsuki in every omni spica events in last months, and he definitively have defeated every one at some point there. But he definitively have some bad matchups agains some characters. Just my impressions, take everything from now on with a grain of salt -yuzuhira can run away from him with the telelports and zone him out with battou very efficiently. He have to work hard to get in. The n°1 yuzuhira is a regular from omni spica, so yeah, senaru had a lot of trouble with this one. -hilda can aply pressure in him pretty well at midscreen, but can't really run away from him. Her force function can act as a reversal, and is used a lot...but it isn't as fast or big as seth reversal. -seth can't zoone him out at all. But he can run away with his 44>2 (have a special animation that leaves him in the air), and have a reversal with good horizontal reach. Senaru had to watch out for this reversal, use shield correctly and tech the throws consistently to win. The seth player "Rion" give him a lot of trouble. Except for akatsuki vs yuzuhira/hilda, the better of both akatsuki and the opponent is at close range, so things are somewhat ambiguous. It's pretty much decided by who have better footsies, reads and who can defend better....block high/low variation, use shield to get grd (and then grd vorpal, and then chain shift ability), tech the throws, bait reversals, etc.
