It's ok, a lot of characters have to play differently against Baiken.

For Venom, just concentrate more on zoning Baiken out instead of going for blockstrings. If you get a knockdown, hit a ball and then do one of the following:

2D > [2]8S

Bait counter

Tick throw

After you condition Baiken not to counter, then you start the mindgames

Most thanks for this, did not play properly the matchup and probably will still have bits of trouble for the following month to mind myself to play the matchup accordingly rather than attempt to do setups I've practiced in training. But I've only just begun with this game and the approach you just gave me is really straightforward and sounds easy to apply. Thank you again

cancel in the air... dunno about that, maybe it was an FRC? If you link a video or something it could help. I know on the ground johnny can cancel normals into Mist Finer (236 P/K/S) and then hold the button down so the move doesn't come out, and cancel that by pressing HS to return to neutral. The higher your mist finer level is, the faster the cancel. I guess it's similar to litchi's itsuu cancel in CT/CS1, I think? Rhannmah would know more than me though.

Vice and I had matches last night. Pretty sure he means HS mist stance cancel, in which case you press HS while keeping the mist finer button pressed as well.

Vice, you def. should come to Foonzo and talk to Rhannmah. He's the resident expert as I mentioned in my msg.

Also, wtb Slayer knowledge. I want to access his more damaging combos, but the Slayer forums are all over the place. ;_;

First, is there only me and Air who would be interested in winter brawl by the end of february? Would be kind of cool for those who'd be willing to go to let it be known. I'd only go if we're a certain amount to do so and I'd love to know that fairly soon. If we can't potentially fill an hotel room by the time nemesis is around, I'll just drop all plans for this. That's around first week or so of 2013.

Second, about that xmas tournament idea that floated around? Any time or date planned? Sunday a week from here?

They aren't shit, the info is just all over the place and the only concession to newbies is that 101 thread. There's some really good info in there, it's just piecemeal and disorganized.

While I like Slayer, I won't try fixing something I don't know anything about. That would just invite disaster.

@Sophisticat: What Slayer combos are you looking to practice? BBU combos? Mid-screen? Corner? Stuff off anti-airs?

There's a lot of variation and freedom to combos with Slayer it just depends on the situation.

Generally speaking, his bnb is 2K -> 2S -> 2D (all linked).

If you have someone airborne then the basic combo will be j.K -> j.2K -> j.K -> dj.K or dj.S -> dj.2K -> dj.D
