Milln Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) As an aside, I notice we actually seem to have a good spread of characters. Counting secondary chars; Elizabeth, 2 Mitsurus, Yu, 2 Chies, 2 Naotos, 2 Yosukes, 3 Kanjis, Shadow Labrys, Teddie, 2 Akihikos, Labrys Edited August 10, 2012 by Milln
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Kinda irrited by TNC's commentary for winner's finals. Apparently Bace wasn't playing at SKD's high level just because the latter had the momentum, and Bace obviously knew his way around Elizabeth - he was working his ASS off. Then as soon as Bace lands a big combo he's suddenly skilled again. wtf mang
Seiki Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 @Kyle: What's the character diversity like in Ohio for P4? @Milln: you forgot 2 akihikos, Patrick and I. I'll let you know tomorrow around 2 p.m. if I need a ride.
Milln Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) Some commentators don't understand how pressure works. @naimat: my bad I did forget. I put Doromac's Chie and G-Ram's Kanji in there, too. Edited August 10, 2012 by Milln
Urichinan Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I'll see if I can make it out tomorrow. Once you guys get all the details sorted out I'll see if I can come.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 That moment when I just had Liz mirrors in ranked with the Bace I was just talking about. . .
Grimstar Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 (edited) Just picked up Persona... and I gotta say the thing I immediately love about the game is the little timer bar below the combo that lets you know how long until the enemy can tech. Badass. And no one told me the main character of this game is Ky! Edited August 10, 2012 by Grimstar
g-ram Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Im having such a hard time with pressure and dealing with pressure since ive never played an arc system game. Ive picked up a bit just playing you guys but its still rough.
Alphakami Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Best Western Thunderbird is the venue. I got us a suite, it should be awesome. We can add a 2nd room if necessary. That gives us 2 TV's with the suite, and I did secure a HDMI setup. Looking good so far!
Seiki Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 (edited) Tad what time can people come over? I'll be bringing a GG setup, a tv, my xbox, kof and persona. Edited August 11, 2012 by Seiki
Tophatmoffet Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 How many setups do we need? Should I bring mine?
Milln Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 The answer to every "should I bring a setup?" question is yes every time. Glad you could join us Grimstar. Now we just need Fatchu and we're good. G-ram, it's tough stuff to get used to, think of attacks as "levels". I'll explain more when I get to a computer or if someone else would be so kind.
Volpe-de-Glacio Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 That feel when you pull off a 6.5k reset in ranked. Elizabeth. <3
Grimstar Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 (edited) This game is weird. Why are there instant reversals and one button combos? the fuck Edited August 11, 2012 by Grimstar
Astaroth136 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 You guys wanna see my 7k combos tomorrow? WOOTWOOT
Jackie Chandler Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 the fuck That background is what you see when Blazblue can't find whatever stage you selected. Considering P4A was probably started using BB's engine, it's not surprising to see it default to that background whenever something goes wrong with the one chosen. I wonder if that means the two use similar background files, and if the two are interchangeable? You guys wanna see my 7k combos tomorrow? WOOTWOOT YES. As long as they aren't against me. :3c
Milln Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 This game is weird. Why are there instant reversals and one button combos? Reversals take your health(regeneratable, but still) and why not? It's a different mechanic because this is it's own game. It works very nicely. One button combos are okay for meter gain, but not really. They are also not great for damage with or without your super. They're simply in there for bad hit confirms and for new players so they can get into the game easier, why complain about it? YOSUKE DITTOS ARE CRAZY. All you see is headphones flying around the screen. Here's my update on how I feel about Persona. It has definitive matchups that are dynamic. Based upon who you're fighting your objective is different and how you act in the fight is truly different. If yore fighting a Naoto youre going to move differently than if you were fighting Kanji than if you were fighting Shadow Labrys. I like this a lot, as I think more than a few games don't have this. KOF, in my personal opinion, doesn't. No matter who I'm fighting, I'm still doing the same thing, just a couple things may not be safe anymore. When I'm not tired and frustrated, I like Persona. Learning silly mixups with Yosuke is fun, learning Bandit Revolver jokes with Naoto is fun.
Alphakami Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I should arrive in Cookeville around 4 PM, if I stay on schedule. Deja Vu. They wouldn't allow me to set it up so that anyone can check in early.
Milln Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 Just had a long set with Doromac's Chie and Patrick's Akihiko. F Chie, but Doromac is Great to play. Meteors are bs. Patrick has his Akihiko pressure coming along very nicely, I need to figure out how to get out of it really soon, th one option I came up with mid session isn't going to cut it. Doro said this was the most fun he had in a while and I can't lie and say I didn't enjoy it either. Yosuke is a blast to play. Naoto, too. I love playing Naoto against Akihiko's, I can't wait to play against Naimat. That matchup is so fun.
Milln Posted August 11, 2012 Author Posted August 11, 2012 Double post for double the players. Persona 2v2's on the 18th. Game list is now : KOF, Guilty Gear, Persona singles, Persona Teams. I'll get a real post up with all the fixin's tonight when I get home.

I'm just saying... yosuke's auto combo does almost as much damage as any of his Challenge mode stuff, and messing around in training mode for a good while yesterday, I couldn't come up with anything myself worth the effort compared to mashing A. I'm still gonna give it more time and experiment, but I'm going to be a very sore sport if his best combos are barely worth the effort over mashing A. He's obviously more of a mix up/reset character... but I still just flat out don't like the auto combos at all. Shit is weak. But I'll give it more time, Blazblue had challenge mode combos that were pointless and hilariously tough to do for little pay off. So we'll see... Edited August 11, 2012 by Grimstar
