Holy crap, I slept from 11 P.M. to 1 P.M... That's fourteen hours of sleep. O_o I have stuff I need to be helping with around the house for now, but I'll be posting shoutouts later this evening once I get the chance.

SHOUTOUTS!!!

Milln - You ran three tournies simultaneously. They all ran on time without any trouble. Great job. I also enjoyed watching you do real combos with Jin. Keep at it and you might face me in the finals soon. Thanks for watching my MvC3 matches and hyping them up.

Doro - It was fun hanging out and getting a ton of Marvel casuals in. Like I said, it's been weird seeing you level up from about a month ago to now. Just a vast improvement... didn't you get top 10 in Marvel? Like Milln, you also watched a ton of my matches and hyped them up.

Tad - Man, I'm really sorry I couldn't get away from all of the salty runbacks in Marvel. There was about four people in a row that I knocked out of the tournament that wanted to face me again. Then, once we sat down to play, you had to leave for a minute. Once we sat down, the tournament started. At least we had some ridiculously close matches in the BB tournament. Those were the most fun matches I had in BB all weekend.

Eshi - I already pm'ed you. Good stuff in BB, as usual. Thanks for coming up and taking everyone's fight money. lol

LSS - Dat Noel. GG's in loser's finals. After eating some 3C combos, I finally learned to block that crap. Ignore Naimat's salty comments. You play the game more than he does, so you deserved the wins. Grand finals next time...

Midnight - How about actually playing CS2 so you can place in upcoming tournaments? rofl

Chandler - KNOCKING ME OUT INSTANTLY IN THE BRACKETS? WTF?!?! Nah, GG's. I played risky, and you punished accordingly. You're better than you think.

Klein - We never had any matches against each other, but we talked while eating food. Sounded like you had a good time with Milln and the gang.

Kyle - YOU SUCK! Hahaha! It wasn't real shit talk. I was just trying to get your attention whenever you were playing VS. Good seeing you man, and thanks for supporting my MvC3 matches.

Papstr & Pickle - Always good seeing you guys come up to the tournaments too. Pickle, thanks for the commentary.

KO (Milln, tell KO I gave him a shoutout) - I hadn't seen you since the very first Blazblue tournament I attended. Thanks for the talks outside while I waited on my ride. We get along because we like those fatass characters.

Everyone else - Thanks for coming out to MWC.

I had a bunch of fun hanging out with everyone from TN. I wish that GA had half as many people interested in and enthusiastic about BB. Atlanta Revival happened at the same time as MWC and, once again, BB was canceled due to lack of interest (~2 people entered).

specific shoutouts to:

Milln - thank you so much for letting my friends crash at your place and play your weird game, rofl. Catbutt was the high point of Elliot and Ben's trip.

Mr. Pickle - your commentary was awesome and I loved your mew two in melee.

Jackie Chandler - playing casuals got me scared. You were literally the person I feared facing against the most... and Elliot told me he beat you 4-0? wtf? learn more match-ups and do less DP's, you could be a seriously strong player soon.

LSS - my stick is functional now. -_- You put up a good fight but I studied the Noel match-up thoroughly after losing to Tokido. I noticed a few things you could change that would improve your game dramatically, message me about it some time. And don't listen to what other people say, 22B > dash 6C is the most hype 10 second loop of all time!

Midnight - you were messing up your wind mix-ups like mad, you better work on that before I come back! I expect CS Litchi level grossness.

Naimat - you play better than you post, no lie! Keep on leveling up and work on those tourney nerves, I fully expected you to beat LSS because you play pretty solid.

astaroth - play a less shitty character

Posted (edited)

Thanks for the compliments guys, I'll forward them to the gf xP

Also, sincerest apologies to anyone that was playing matches when I hit that damn siren thing, both times. I felt so stupid and bad about it, hope I didn't break anyone's concentration. >_<

Funny to look back on though. Wonder how many mall shoppers I freaked out.

Oops, forgot Naimat in my post. herp

Naimat - You were in fact playing pretty solid. Your match against BearsAreScary was fun to watch. I know you're salty about our matches, especially considering how much crap I was dropping. Our Marvel casuals was a lot of fun though.

Man this tourny has awakened me to several things: 1)Get some sleep 2) Play the game more and 3)Noel...is S tier.

So shoutouts,

Milln - Great tournament great experience. But really, you ran everything on time and it was well organized. Also, thanks for letting me stay at your place for the night.

Eshi - Thanks man for the compliments. We still have yet to play each other, and I am especially very eager to face a godly Tsubaki. Good shit at sticking with Tsubaki even though there were times were I would have said "fck it I'm picking Makoto". Hopefully you come back to TN. Oh, and yeah you're right I was very wrong about Noel LOL!

Midnight - I thought about it and I realized choosing another character won't solve my problems and I hope you realize that too. Then again Makoto is too good, but I think you'd make a better Litchi main and also a better player if you stay away from her.

Star - Lol my harsh comments were a mixture of salt and truth but overall your skill did shine through. You beat me because you were the better player that's all.

Astaroth - Lol dat Mahvel son. I enjoyed watching you rep TN in marvel and in BB. I was really disappointed with our BB matches because I felt I performed better overall but dropped game winning combos only to get 720'd. The really BS one was my 3C hitstun being canceled by my own D nails hitstun thus making you tech before my 3C animation was done and you threw out a 360/720 (don't remember which).

Klein - Relearning Hakumen is a bitch but if you spend less time playing LoL I think you will make a great Haku. I'll try LOL for teh lol.

Billy - Glad you and your girlfriend came to hype the event up. I'm getting into SSFIV so you'll see me coming to GG street fighter tournaments soon.

Tad - Thanks for playing Blazgreen with me ~_0 I really needed it after a shitty day at work. Even though you don't play the game nearly as much as everyone else I can sense that elderly presence in your skill that years of playing fighting games has given you. You have very solid fundamentals, if only you practiced more...

Kyle - I'm really glad you came and I have mad respect for you for just coming out to play Vampire Savior even though there was no tournament for it. Your passion impressed me. I wish we could have hanged out more hopefully you come visit us again. Or maybe...I'll come over there.

Caleb - Damn, I was thoroughly impressed and pleasantly surprised you won Samurai Kirby. You just need to learn how to apply that reaction time to BB and you will be a very dangerous opponent.

Mr. Pickle - Lol your hype is much needed and I was really glad you came to support the scene it was awesome seeing you there.

Matt/K.O. - I'm really glad you came and you showed support for the BB scene was great seeing you at a tournament again.

Chandler - Good shit taking out Astaroth. Lol your family drama was entertaining and I feel for you man, but you are coming to the monthlies no matter what even if I have to come to Cookeville to sneak you out. You are one of TN finest BB players and you keep getting better every tournament. Keep up the good work.

I'll be trying a lot harder to get ready for the next tournament guys so be ready!

Naimat, I'll be the first one to admit that you outplayed me but got lamed out by 720s. The 360s were legit though.

Much respect for your shoutouts too.

Tad - Thanks for playing Blazgreen with me ~_0 I really needed it after a shitty day at work.

naimat in here talking about blazin somethin green... what else is new? ;)

Astaroth stop stawmping my frawg and raping lambchops. seiki yeah im just gonna use litchi and rachel, can't convince myself to use makoto. Klein lambda bros yayuhz and casuals next time definitely. laststar damn 3rd nice, you played well against astaroth despite being noel and maybe we'll stop being mega-free at arcana. Jackie cool hanging out with you as always, gotta set up your mom vs laststar's mom sometime. grimstar your gf has great high low mixups. gg

Awesome, awesome times this weekend, even if they were a little crazy at times. My apologies to everyone who had to deal with the craziness that was my mom showing up in Murfreesboro at 2 in the morning, the imaginary Arby's, the most physically uncomfortable McDonald's trip ever, and less than five hours of sleep. I had a lot of fun that night. :3 And sorry I had to leave so suddenly Sunday, but I had to be home by a certain time. :/ Anyway, shoutouts (in alphabetical order by username, after the two guys who let me stay at their place, haha):

Milln: I'm running out of clever ways to say that I'm eternally grateful. Not only did you run the most hype tournaments EVAR (SAMURAI FUGGIN' KIRBY), but you were totally cool with like ten people staying the night at you and K.O.'s place, too, myself included, as well as keeping your head cool with a million things going on at once. If you need anything, let me know man. I'm sure I owe it to you and more. Keep on wearing dat hat and bringing dat hype. I'm anticipating next MTN already. :D P.S. Sorry again for telling your girlfriend to "give you a chance." I was convinced it was you two's first date for some reason and even told her I tend to make situations like that terribly awkward. XP

K.O.- On the off chance you're reading this, thanks for being cool with a bunch of strangers hanging at you and Milln's place. It was really awesome meeting you and hanging out- I can tell you and Milln get along just fine. :] Hope you can make it to some more tournaments, and try to get into dat Blazblue. Milln will tell you... Middle Tennessee Needs More Blazblue.

Astaroth- I still stand by our matches being the hypest in Blazblue. XD Astral, into being Perfected, into Perfecting, into almost 720'd, into BARELY win? I hope our matches at the next MTN will be just as exciting. :] Oh, and congrats on the placing in the Marvel tourney (as well as BB, of course)- the competition there was CRAZY. I hope our casuals from the night before didn't mess with you any; I know my playing style can be a little awkward. XP Just keep on proving bad characters can seem broken. It's clearly what you're good at. :3

Doromac- It only hit me after MWC that you never got to show me that Akuma combo. D: Do want 2C and/or remember what it was. If worse comes to worst, show it to me next tourney. I AM interested in it. :] Keep up the awesome work in Marvel- I see you improving ALL the time- but keep on practicing Blazblue too. In return, I'll work on my Marvel, how about that? :D

Eshi- Congratulations on winning Blazblue! I guess I shouldn't be surprised. :P It's kind of funny to hear I was your worst fear, haha. Casuals got me pretty excited, and I was really hoping to face you in the tourney actually (or at least in some more casuals afterwards, our matches were really fun), but I guess it just wasn't meant to be. Yeah, Elliot somehow mopped the floor with me in the tourney, and you left before Samurai Kirby was over when I was going to try and get in some casuals with people. :[ I'll do my best to improve before the next tourney, and try to do less DPs... But the Astrals? I dunno if I can drop those. X3

Grimstar- Thanks a bunch for showing and hyping up the tournament, even if you were only there to compete in Samurai Kirby. It was good seeing you playing in something after so long, and meeting your girlfriend. If you don't mind my saying so, she's a keeper dude. :] Hope you can get back into Blazblue soon. MTNBB.

Klein- Indeed, definitely fun hanging out. (Read top of post) I'll try to brush up on my Guilty Gear before next time, so we can have some more epic casuals while drinking epic orange tea. It'll be so awesome the GG cabinet will break temporarily, and then I'll fix it. :D Lrn2CSIIHakumen tho. It'll help train your reflexes for League of Legends, too... I promise. :3

Kyle- Sorry for the confusion regarding the hotel room. Like I explained in my PM, trying to figure out the situation of where I'd stay the night was hell, since until Friday I thought my parents wanted me to drive back to Cookeville, then back to Antioch overnight. Vampire Savior was really cool- I'll look into learning a bit of it in case it's available next time (even if it's just in the arcade for some casuals). But yeah, make it back to Tennessee soon. I'm sure Blazblue still has a character for you. :]

LastStar- Dayum, your Noel has gone from good to outright scary. It's clear that you've been not only practicing a lot, but studying the game's raw mechanics in the form of frame data as well. That's something I don't know hardly ANY of. It looks like I'm going to have to step my game up. :3 Really, I'm happy to see you placing so well- third's something to be proud of. And if you think about it, you may have lost to Astaroth, but you beat me, and I beat him. Technically that should net you like second and a half place or something, right? XD I can't wait to face you next tournament. I'll give you a run for your money then, I promise. :]

Midnight- ... Did we... play at all? >_>; I don't know how it happened, but we totally didn't. I was hoping to see what kind of new stuff you'd learned as Rachel and Litchi, since I never play either any more. :[ It was cool messing around with stuff at Milln's place though- I hope I wasn't totally boring you/everyone with random, mostly useless stuff about the game. XD Show up to the next MTN and show me what you got! I'll be looking forward to it.

Papstr- It's okay, Papstr- everyone has a game they're good at, and maybe Samurai Kirby just isn't one of them. XD Just kidding, of course. Congrats on winning it, and proving that Tennessee has reflexes! Everyone should definitely stop treating you like you're bad at video games now. :D It was a lot of fun talking and hanging at Milln/KO's place and elsewhere, too. Keep on practicing dat Ragna- I want some good mirrors for when you land at TTU!

Pickle- OMG THAT COMMENTARY. Thanks for going out of your way to do it- it's going to add a BUNCH of hype to the tourney videos. :D Look into commentating professionally/radio/podcasts/Let's Plays. You have the perfect voice, personality, and whatever else for them. :] Unfortunately, I didn't get to see you play in any Blazblue, but I'm sure you've improved drastically- our casuals online from earlier in the month showed me that. But keep on working at Ragna and dem Astrals. Next time you get another one online I'll sign on immediately and congratulate you on it without you telling me. :3

Seiki- Thanks a bunch man. :D I see you improving all the time, and respect all the work you put into it. I didn't realize how much more work Bang was until I saw you practicing at Milln's house and before the tournament. You easily put more than an hour into perfecting the timing and technique of that one ridiculous Bang combo. I see a true drive in you- one that compels you to always do your best and to train hard. And I know how frustrating it can be to put all that time into something and still come out shorter than expected. But trust me- you're a great player, even though everyone jokes around about "everything making you salty." You're an epic Bang player, and I can feel that you're just moments away from going Fu-Rin-Ka-Zan IRL. Keep up the fantastic work, Naimat. I wanna see you placing well at the next MTN. :]

Tad- We didn't really talk much, and I didn't get to see you play at BB either. T_T Vampire Savior was neat, though, and I was serious about getting into Guilty Gear. Maybe next time I'm up we can get in some casuals. :] Show up next time for sure- I'll be sure to play you in something then. :D

Volpe- WHERE U AT?

Anyone I forgot- Sorry for forgetting you. If you don't have an account/don't post here, I purposefully didn't shoutout to you though. Let me know if I forgot you, you have an account and I didn't know it, and/or you don't have one but know somebody who'd tell me you want one and I'll shoot you a personal shoutout ASAP.

Madcatz TE sticks are always good, you could get an SE stick but in the long run you'd prefer the TE... Standards are just clunky and fall out of laps.

Try SRK's trade outlet, I bought my stick for ~115 bucks brand new. That's $35 cheaper than they sell for at retail price.

Or if you're feeling frisky:

Although... I'm considering selling my 360 Blazblue TE, if by any chance you'd be interested in that. ;)

Or like I said earlier, Snipe hasn't had any problems with his QRAF yet, and it'd save you the trouble of dual modding since you play on PS3 mainly (If I recall right).

http://www.focusattack.com/products/Qanba-Q4RAF-XB360-PS3-PC-Compatible-Joystick.html

It's a pre-order because they have to restock, so if you don't want/like that don't worry about it, but if you're willing to wait, it's worth looking into.

Posted

Q4RAF is sexy as hell, I wanted one when they were first released, then they sold out in like a day :P

Posted

That Qanba is sexy as hell! I'll have to save up a bit more for it unless there's something cheaper I spot first. Really like that Qanba though. Grim, I would be tempted to take your offer but I need something PS3 man.

Posted

yup, just keep in mind the tourneys usually run on 360 though...

Posted

Hit up Duckie to mod whatever stick you get for both systems, Star.

Incoming shoutoutz when I get home from work.

Yo what's up guys. I've just picked up BB with the release of CS2 and really wanting to learn the game. I was wondering do any of you guys play on PSN? I don't know anyone in Memphis that plays and I could use some practice. Also does anyone play Arcana Heart? :scared:

Klein, Snipe, Star, and Midnight all ps3 it up. I have it on ps3, but prefer my 360 because of my current 360-only stick.

Star and Midnight play Arcana and I kind of dabble in it.

We do tournaments every last Saturday of the month, nice to meet you! =o

What's this?! People in Tennessee wanting to learn Blazblue?! What bizarre parallel dimension have I wandered into?

Jokes aside, it's a pleasure to meet you. Like Milln, I have a PS3 copy of BBCS, but I opt to play on 360 the majority of the time since I'm more comfortable with its controller. If you'd like, though, I can try to explain some of the game's mechanics to you through online play some time this week, and/or get some friendlies in. I already shot you a friend request on PSN, so just let me know if/when you want to. Welcome to MTBB. :D

Posted

Yeah, I can help out too if I ever get online again, always good to have more people.

@Grim and LSS, the QRAF feels so nice, I'm half-tempted to just pre-order one instead of waiting on PS360 boards to get in at Akishop or restocked at Focusattack.

I too have AH3. Now that I finally got my stick modded I may try and play it more often.

Which reminds me, Midnight and LSS, we need to play that sometime. Shoot me an invite if I'm on and you guys are up for it.

Dude, i'm always up for some games, I didn't think you guys ever wanted to play. Jackie's always on Black Ops or doing nothing and you're playing various party games. Anyways, another person being added to the MTN crew? He wants to learn BB? I'm Hyped?!?!! Fuck yes, it's time to get to work. I'll shoot you an invite this very second man. Welcome to MTNBB, i'm LastStarSaviour and i'll be your training partner from now on.
