Aureolux Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 What is the best motion for executing a DP while minimizing the risk of it being recognized as a different move? It seems like I can do the exact same motion twice and have it be a DP one time and a different move another time (verified by looking at input history in training mode. is the timing somehow important?) i.e. in much the same manner as using 19 and 37 to s.jc instead of 29 and 27 (which avoids getting a TK'd aerial), is there a preferred DP motion to avoid getting 236's? For what it's worth I have the most trouble with Jin, following a 6C. I get 236B like 90% of the time no matter what motion I use (with the exception of 623, which counterintuitively does nothing whatsoever).
SansProtocol Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 What do you use? The D-Pad/Thumbstick on the 360 controller or a stick?
M4g1c4lM4g1 Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 By doing 623X (Forward, Down, Down-Forward), you have no way of getting 236X. 6236X would give a DP if you're fast enough (iirc), but if you're too slow the buffer will forget your first 6 and you will end up with 236X.
SansProtocol Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Try using the hitstop of a move to remind yourself to let the pad/stick return to neutral. Also, probably working toward a stick is the best thing to do. I hate using stick and I still have one because the 360 pad is incredibly terrible for execution.
YukiBlue Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 For the 360 Control Stick, I just do 626 really fast and it always comes out. Of course, It is best to just genuinely do it. as seen above 2 posts above.
KayEff Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I know that problem. I had that at the start and still have it when i'm sloppy. Try going back to neutral before doing the DP. If you do 6C and keep your fingers on the 6 while trying to do a DP motion, you will fail. You need to let go and then rapidly input the 623C. Also don't listen to what the pad haters tell you. I tried stick for a bit, my execution is much better on pad. I guess it's on a person to person basis but switching to stick is not suddenly gonna make you an execution god. ...ugh

Nini Heart Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 I actually typed this like 30 minutes before I posted it. Got sidetracked by some IRL shit and only posted 30 minutes later. I wasn't targeting you or anything. I'll just delete that post then since you said whatever I was trying to say.
MAdBater Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Square gate arcade stick is the best for the execution of dps. Practice will make you king on whatever you play on.

I would say that being a pad warrior that I'll even admit that my execution is better on a stick but it's just not that comfortable to me yet because I have used a pad for so long.
Rhiya Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 (edited) 623, obviously. Sometimes you can get away with 6(5)23, though, which is nice on stick. Depends on how forgiving the input interpreter is. Edited June 2, 2011 by Dusk Thanatos
Tong Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 if you DP consistently on SF1, you can DP in absolutely any game.
Black Onslaught Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 why are you trying to find shortcuts to do 623x
OmniSScythe Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 if you DP consistently on SF1, you can DP in absolutely any game. It's a myth! That's like doing Shaq's shuriken in one swift motion.
Aureolux Posted June 2, 2011 Author Posted June 2, 2011 Thank you to everyone for the help. Turns out since a simple 623 is actually a faster motion than like 6236 I was doing it just too early to link, which is why I thought it didn't do anything. Don't worry, I can do 623's just fine (stick user). But nonetheless I'll put in a little practice on the timing, and perhaps this can serve as a useful reference for pad users.
zibbazabba905 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 although I've never used the DP in blazblue, in street fighter I always did 6323(x)6 and that worked out most of the time
Hecatom Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 Because it's a shitty motion to do on pad. i never had problems doing it on pad, i simply do 623
Moy_X7 Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 lol, I'm still doing 6326 with both the pad and the stick.
Star-Demon Posted July 21, 2011 Posted July 21, 2011 I agree - Ken Flowcharting has given me good DP Skills on that wonderful device in my avy.
KraaL Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 Make the Z ! If anything, 6123 is still better than 6236. Though if you wish to take on a fighting game without shortcut inputs, you'll have to be clean on your inputs...
kirbster Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 A friend showed me that you can cheat it on a stick... I'm not a stick player but I easily manage to do consistent DP's by pushing the stick forward, letting it go, and pushing down/forward. So basically, 653 in two really quick motions. But I guess this is still sort of a band aid solution and eventually you'll need to learn the proper way. Just saying this actually does work, surprisingly.
