Kyosuke Kagami Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Pai? PAI?! Where mah Aoi? )< ... eh, I guess it can't be helped. I'll get this until christmas. I'm already too busy with P4A.
SolxBaiken Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 In 1 hour of this posting there should be a special exhibition set from TGS
Tecta1Eastside Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 The whole cast and story mode is leaked on youtube already. costumes too for ppl that cant wait. I was one of those ppl lol. Tier list is gonna be posted on freestepdodge.com on the 25th too. A guy called emperor cow made combo vids for like 1/3 of the cast. All ppl in alpha demo have combo vids and sorry if some of you all know some or all or this information already. oh the game is considered fairly balanced and more legit now.
Vulcan422 Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Thank God. I was tired of that anime bullshit that was DOA4's tier list (Ninjas, Helena, everybody else). You wanna know Itagaki's response back when he was questioned on grapplers being godawful in 4? "No wrestler should ever be able to defeat a ninja." Also not all the costumes have been revealed yet, only the ones that everyone cares about (the girls).

FINALLY a tier list that made sense. Like Sagat in Vanilla SF4 or Phoenix, they would win lol.
SolxBaiken Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 The irony is the fact grapplers are pretty much top tier, and Hayabusa is pretty much considered one now lol So if you're a wrestling ninja I guess you trump all = w= Also I'm pretty disappointed in the costumes I've seen so far...too many reuses, recolors, and slight alterations... Not to mention most of them are just pretty awful IMO...Tecoei was pretty lazy :< this time around.
Kyosuke Kagami Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 No, they weren't lazy The lacked Itagaki's high levels of "curiosity"
iw2ma Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Well the Ninja's command grabs were always more devastating than any wrestlers i'd ever seen. Not just Ryu's Inazuma but Hayate's ridiculous grab too lol
Kyosuke Kagami Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 I don't remember Izuna Drop dealing retarded damage in any game.
Vulcan422 Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 It does if you knock the opponent off a highrise while doing it. And yes Hayate's new Raijin move was impractical as fuck, but it looked damn cool especially if you did it in an area with a ceiling.
Kyosuke Kagami Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Oh that... well, yeah, but it's not like you could do it everywhere. So, no words of my bro Leon in this game?
Vulcan422 Posted September 23, 2012 Posted September 23, 2012 Leon isn't in the game due to being, in essence, a model swap of Bayman. DOA4 gave him a few new throw combo strings but otherwise he is the exact same character. Besides, his original voice actor is dead and his story was finished in 3. He only appears in 4 as a non-canon character with no story. The only reason I played him over Bayman in 4 was because his hold combos were more varied and looked more brutal anyway.

Heihachi and Kasumi's late seiyuu say "hi" He only appears in 4 as a non-canon character with no story. Gen Fu says "hi" Leon is a actually a pretty popular character especially in the 2 era when Bayman was the hidden one, also it's worth noting that Leon's name did appear in the list of leaks from the alpha demo (which was all but accurate, excluding him apparently). And I really want to know if he and Zack actually have any connection or not, though I guess since his only goal was to be "the strongest" to keep a vague promise to a dead one, the team decided to leave him be, not finding a way to fit him in to no doubt nonsensical story I expect from 5.
Kyosuke Kagami Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Screw this game, then At least for the next 8 months

Even though i agree with this, most of Tekken isn't a model swap at all. Every Mishima plays totally differently, totally new moves. Nothing like Baymen and Leon who were almost exactly the same. I don't remember Izuna Drop dealing retarded damage in any game. Lol Skull Girls, it did a good amount, and Valentines level 3 was also that but scarier..... and hotter. But you're right it rarely does damage in any fighting game, but that's because it's a game, that grab is far more dangerous than most wrestling grabs in actuality lol. Also it did good damage in Ninja Gaiden Edited September 24, 2012 by iw2ma
Kyosuke Kagami Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 I was talking about DOA only Also Izuna Drop in NG = insta death. Even if it's vs those annoying dragon like red things (using the flawless sword).

Sadeyo Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpRzd5EtO3I&feature=channel&list=UL My attempt at DOA due to the fact I don't have any real experience or practice. Friend and myself mashing away in combat but at least understanding the game mechanics were simple enough. I like to get good with Hitomi and Ayane when I happen to get the chance since I mashed around with those two back in 4 for like two weeks, don't know what dragged me onto Mila but it was hella fun using her.
Vulcan422 Posted September 26, 2012 Posted September 26, 2012 Just got it today, and you know what that means: Story Mode Spoilers (for those that haven't already spoiled themselves already on YT)! -Kasumi is told by Lisa to head to the Antarctic, and has a confrontation with Ayane before fighting Bayman there. -Ayane follows her after she had just beaten Bayman, and beats him up further. -Mila spars with Tina, then tags up with her to fight Brad Wong and Eliot. -They fight again as an exhibition match, and Tina thanks her for inspiring her to fight once more. They then tag up to fight Zack. -Rig is approached by Christie, who drops hints that she knows him. After their battle, he fights Jann Lee and Eliot before the oil rig he's the boss of blows up. -Bass sees Tina on TV and, surprise surprise, decides to get in the ring once more. He spars with Rig, and then dons a silly costume, calling himself "Mr. Strong". He fights Zack, and then Tina who sees through his bad disguise. After exchanging some words, Tina gives a speech thanking the fans for cheering her on in the ring again, and announces she's decided to run for governor. When Bass objects, he inadvertently reveals himself to the audience when Tina calls him out, but they end up forming a tag team anyway and share a heartfelt moment. -Brad Wong and Eliot head to the tournament and spar with Hitomi and Leifang. -Eliot loses, but with renewed confidence in himself eagerly awaits the next tournament. After sparring one last time with Brad Wong, Gen Fu approaches him, saying that it is time for him to move on from Xing Yi Quan to Xinyi Liuhe Quan. -Leifang finds Jann Lee in South America, and begins stalking him. They eventually end up on a train together headed for the tournament, but their train suddenly has a strange crash/wreck, yet both survive. -Hitomi makes it to the finals, but before her match encounters Hayate and fights him. -Jann Lee ends up winning the tournament, but no-shows for the congratulatory speech, instead heading to the bar and saying he wants to fight Rig again. -Hayabusa encounters Lisa/La Mariposa, whom he catches referring to "M.I.S.T.", which is Donovan's new organization. He then refuses to come with Zack to see Helena until he is ready, but Zack engages him. -Kasumi is told by Helena that she has been lied to by Lisa, and heads to the oil platform, where she beats Rig and Lisa before encountering Alpha-152 and killing her permanently. As she escapes, she is confronted by Ayane and Hayate, who uphold their duty to the clan and kill her. -Bayman senses that Donovan is planning his next move, and encounters Hayate. They are both approached by Zack, but Bayman refuses to see Helena, deciding to investigate on his own. He arrives at the platform and encounters Christie. -Helena goes to the platform's bar, where she encounters Bass and Christie. Zack brings Kokoro before her, and they have a sisterly talk before fighting again. The next day, Helena sees Kokoro's mother Miyako and Lisa on the platform, which draws her suspicions. Afterward, by the time Kasumi leaves for the platform, she informs the ninjas about Donovan's M.I.S.T. organization, and how it was the real group behind DOATEC's previous actions. -Hayate senses something odd regarding Kasumi, and heads with Ayane to the platform where he encounters Bayman, who says that his target is Kasumi. Kasumi then suddenly appears and both Hayate and Ayane end up killing her. Bayman has already scouted the area, and shows them the way to the secret lab which makes the platform so significant. When Hayate enters, he encounters Rig, who is revealed to be an undercover agent for M.I.S.T. As he prepares to finish Rig, he falls into a trap and is knocked out. When Ayane returns, Hayabusa is already there, and it is revealed that the Kasumi you have been playing as for the whole story is not the real one, but a clone, who disintegrates upon dying. -The real Kasumi is under the care of Muramasa, the old blacksmith from Ninja Gaiden, and receives a message from Hayabusa telling them of Hayate's predicament. She encounters Lisa, who is revealed to by a double agent working for Helena to spy on Donovan, as is Christie. They move in to help Hayate, but Donovan activates Phase 4 of Project Alpha - mass production of clones. With new data implemented into them, the new Alpha clones are now able to take the shape of all four ninjas. The Mugen Tenshin ninjas defeat all the Alpha clones and shut them down, but in the process Lisa appears to be crushed by falling debris. Hayabusa didn't participate, but we can safely assume that he saves Lisa from the ceiling. -After everything is over, The Mugen Tenshin ninjas vow to find Donovan and end his M.I.S.T. Organization for good. -A post credits scene reveals that before the events of the game, Rig is contacted by Donovan regarding Phase 4. It is revealed that the entire story Rig gives is a lie, and his name is actually a codename. In reality, he is the son of Donovan and one of M.I.S.T,'s top agents. Finally, it is confirmed that the Kasumi clone that was killed was another of Donovan's agents, sent to attack Bayman and his troops o the battlefield.
SolxBaiken Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Starting Tues (10.2) they'll be releasing DLC costumes: Glad to see classic Helena and Tina costumes return (and it's sad those are some of their best in 5...) really hoping for new and old (ie. anything from 2U) also I would love to have DLC OST from 2 as well...but that won't happen :<
Kyosuke Kagami Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 Gimme Leifang's old high heels and her DOA3 extra costume from that weird disc, and then I may reconsider my position for this game

Vulcan422 Posted October 1, 2012 Posted October 1, 2012 DOA2 Helena? Fuck yes. Also, just unlocked Alpha-152 today. She's extremely shitty but it's so much fun to troll with her in Ranked.
Xechs Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 (edited) Apparently, those DLC costumes are free. https://twitter.com/TeamNINJAStudio/status/252914027666223104 Edited October 2, 2012 by Xechs
