gli Posted January 20, 2012 Author Posted January 20, 2012 5D backdash I saw KoopaDoopa use a lot to bait chair against a Rachel after winded tech. Seems okay to use but costly.
Herbal Grey Posted January 20, 2012 Posted January 20, 2012 hm. i sorta use 3d jump but usually only when they're in the corner...like i know whatever character wants to dp/reversal in the corner but i'll stand super far away from them just with a pumpkin hanging right next to them...then i 3d, the pumpkin hits them putting them in guardstun then i usually j.b. it's similar to what matsu does, except he uses just a regular 2d. i also sometimes use 3d jump to start a match against chars like rachel if i think they want to start with lobelia. however, a lot of these types of situations i've found less costly ways of doing the same thing...for example, i could use 3d hop over lobelia, but a well placed jump => pumpkin summon can punish a lobelia while also providing an option select for if they don't do a lobelia (say, backdash or crouch block)...and now, i haven't used a wind and i've gained a summon for essentially the same effect... 5d backdash seems risky, but i do winded tech backdash against ppl that like to use 5a/2a against me in the corner, and it's really good against rachel because they're expecting you to grab or cat chair, so they typically will grab or 2a, which whiff the backdash hehehehe then i slap them 5a into 3k plus. i think i use less wind for movement because i'm attached to my combos, and not having wind for combos against, say, litchi, ragna, or any character that 3c doesn't chain into 236b really hurts my game because i don't like the 3c frog ender for my play-style
gli Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 Bored. Haven't streamed in a long time. Going to stream KnK/LttP: http://www.livestream.com/gli3
gli Posted January 21, 2012 Author Posted January 21, 2012 Stream done. Run was done with Kamigami no Triforce v1.0 (a.k.a Link to the Past JP v1.0). Total time: ~ 2 hours 1 minute.

I'm trying to execute a playstyle that's focused on baiting an opponent into mistakes so I don't have to use wind on mixups until I got them cornered with frog or pumpkin.
Chazmobile Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Speaking of pressure how badly does the barrier buff hurt Rachel's pressure game midscreen now because I've always found that barrier in CS2 pushed me out of 5b>2b xN range in only one or two hits. ;-; Also losing JC fork is a real pain in the ass.
tofurr Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Oh lordy, I have 10 days to beat FFXIII. D: D: D:
Chaoschao222 Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Oh lordy, I have 10 days to beat FFXIII. D: D: D: Beat or 100%, because.... both are very possible (if the turtledragonwhatthefuck Gods smile upon you)
Herbal Grey Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Speaking of pressure how badly does the barrier buff hurt Rachel's pressure game midscreen now because I've always found that barrier in CS2 pushed me out of 5b>2b xN range in only one or two hits. ;-; Also losing JC fork is a real pain in the ass. honestly, i don't notice thaaaat much of a difference in how far barrier pushes you in extend. however, i generally never try to go for more than one iteration of 5b 2b (like no 5b 2b 5b 2b). against the majority of the cast, i generally just 2a 5b then i have a 50 50 chance of hitting with either ioh j.a or 2b. if it's blocked, i tend to jump away after 5b (or 6b in cs2), end with the typical a lobelia after 6b, or if they're mashing or trying to jump i fuzzy guard with winded 3c after 6b just to keep them honest with their blocking (a 3c starter is also pretty nice if you catch them). if you 2a then 5b, you're still guaranteed a 50 50 chance with the instant overhead bc barier guard won't push you too far away, so i would generally say if your 2b is blocked once, find a way to reset pressure or go back to zoning also, honestly, JC fork really only makes an impact against tager, because now rachel can't poke and jump away...being able to follow fork with winded 3c should still keep people guessing and not impact your pressure toooo badly. against players that are getting too complacent with their blocking, i can even summon pumpkin and reset if i choose, but i generally try to stay away from situations where they're blocking my fork, even in cs2.
Chazmobile Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 -snip- Aight, coolbeans. Glad to know it's still pretty much same old same old.
tofurr Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Beat or 100%, because.... both are very possible (if the turtledragonwhatthefuck Gods smile upon you) Beat it. I'm not much of an acheivment whore. I think IX was the only one I came close to 100%.
Chazmobile Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Beat it. I'm not much of an acheivment whore. I think IX was the only one I came close to 100%. Incidentally, IX is also the best Final Fantasy. So good on ya'
[SpA]Relentless Posted January 21, 2012 Posted January 21, 2012 Sakaku is so broken it's not even funny.

unsanctifier Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 i swear relius is the opposite of rachel rachel looked like a zoner character who wouldn't have great mixup and relius looked like a great mixup character oh boy.
AchedSphinx Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Incidentally, IX is also the best Final Fantasy. So good on ya' Incidentally, FF9 is my favorite of the series. Now I must find my game disc. It's good to have a PS2 :D
gli Posted January 22, 2012 Author Posted January 22, 2012 i swear relius is the opposite of rachel rachel looked like a zoner character who wouldn't have great mixup and relius looked like a great mixup character oh boy. Word. Haha.
Sakaku Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Relentless;1243969']Sakaku is so broken it's not even funny. Don't you mean Rachel mirrors are broken? V: This shit doesn't even make sense especially when you block like 30 seconds and try to figure out how to escape 6B corner pressure orz. I'm glad we didn't record tbh, nobody would want to watch it.
[SpA]Relentless Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 (edited) It's worse when you got the opponent cornered for 30secs and can't figure out how to open up his defense Rachel's immune to j.A and nobody gets hit by 4B in a blockstring unless they fall asleep or aren't used to holding back for such a long time (Hokuto No Ken conditioned me pretty hard to IAD bullshit :D) Throws get very telegraphed after a very short time. Staggering normals is useless if the opponent never tries to mash out. It wouldn't be such a big deal if BB had traditional guard bars, but no, instead they decided to further reduce her guardcrush abilities with 5CC and 4B nerf. No wonder Rachel mirrors tend to end in timeout. Only way to win consistently is to convert the first hit you get into maximum damage, then sit on the lifelead for the rest of the round... I wasn't patient enough and always tried to force damage onto you, when I could've just zoned you after getting one combo in. You deserved the win. Edited January 22, 2012 by [SpA]Relentless
Chaoschao222 Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Chao: lol, yeah, I forgot to mention I'm already on chapter 11. I just haven't had much time to play it. :B Chapter 11.... that's when the game starts, right? It's been so long since I played it.
Chazmobile Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 TBH any form of Rachel mirrors are like drunken antics at a party. Dirty, shameful, makes you angry and are generally something best forgotten.
kirbster Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 You can fuzzy guard Rachel In fact it's like the only way I manage to hit Litchi
tofurr Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Chapter 11.... that's when the game starts, right? It's been so long since I played it. It's like 9 or 10.
