Broly Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) Hi guys, i'm pretty new to BB. I just started playing BB:CS like 2 - 3 days ago. Following some of the advice on these forums, i picked the character that seemed the most interesting to me. So Litchi ended up being my main character. However, i had to wonder if there is a starter character or a "training" character that i should start with? My current fighting game experience comes mostly from street fighter(classics up to SF4), mortal kobat(1-9), marvel vs capcom, and even rival schools if anyone remembers that one :P I'm stuck on Litchi's 4th challenge, I've also cleared the first 2 combo's on the demo disk that they show. Do you guys think i should just stick with Litchi and keep on practicing or should i find a "easier/beginner" character to start with, and get the hang of the game first? tjtj012 Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 yea definitly ragna or noel just spam d until you learn actual combos
YukiBlue Posted November 13, 2011 Posted November 13, 2011 (edited) *Ignore my last post* Ragna is good for the basics. He is very beginner friendly and teaches you almost all the game mechanics. After that, pick whoever you want. Although, IMO, It would be better to pick any character, Sure some are harder than others but with some "Study" and experience, You shouldn't have too many problems picking the game up with anyone. Starlight777 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 As much as I hate these two characters, try Ragna and Jin. They are very basic and have next to no gimmick for you to think about. But after you get bored of those two, immediately try to explore new things. I say that last part because online needs variety lol.
BURI Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Try not to get too attached though. In BB it's a bit difficult to change characters, so if you want to play Litchi, you should practice a lot with her, training with another character will only get you so far. My suggestion would be: Play Ragna or Jin a lot until you are confident enough with the game (time on that may vary), then play a bit with every other character (doing about 4 challenges + Arcade Mode with each one should be more than enough) and then go ahead and change to your "main". I think that's the best way to figure out what's the best character for you.
kotokot Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Ragna or Jin. Tager and Noel are easy, but they a bit stupid, very much random retarded shit.
Viridian Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 (Excluding: Rachel, Carl, Arakune) It's annoying when your favorite characters in Blazblue happen to be Carl and Rachel (I'd like Arakune too aside from his character design) :s
YukiBlue Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 But I can imagine the sense of Accomplishment a Carl/Rachel player gets when they simply sit on the face of their opponent.
Fugu Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Litchi was the first character I mained in any 2D fighter and it (eventually) turned out fine. You're probably going to get pretty damn frustrated with it -- her combo execution is pretty tough and her pressure is so free-form that it's initially quite difficult to know what to do with it -- but there's nothing that you can't become able to do with practice. Honestly, if you're not that committed to it right now you may be better off picking a different character as a means of not discouraging yourself immediately, but if you are there's absolutely nothing wrong with starting with her. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me. I'm definitely not the best Litchi player on this board but I'm alright and I have extensive experience with starting as her from the ground up.
TheGreatReptar Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 I'm stuck on Litchi's 4th challenge, I've also cleared the first 2 combo's on the demo disk that they show. Um, what demo disc are you talking about? I only recall there being a demo disc thing for BBCT, and if that's the case, the first combo works in BBCS1, but not in BBCS2. If that's the case, you should probably update Blazblue so it's BBCS2 instead of 1. 2's an infinitely better game.
heavypress Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 If you can (as in if you have the time to devote to this game), the recommendation of trying each character in Challenge Mode for 3-4 missions and beating Arcade Mode with them is a pretty solid option. Not only will it give you a good idea of which characters you like and which you don't, it'll help give you a feel for the basic tools each character has at their disposal, so you'll have a bit of an idea as to what to expect later on. Noel is a good choice, and so is Ragna.
YukiBlue Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 Never Pick Noel as a starter, It just teaches you to press the same button, press a new direction now and then and hope for the best, As that is all beginner Noel players do. Teaches nothing
swordiris Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I'm tired of Noel hate, it is annoying. Noel is a perfectly fine character. Besides people will learn that mashing D will get them killed eventually.

Using her as a starter character will win you games from Drive spam, Thats a fact we both know. It teaches you nothing, At least read what I write next time?
Domethieus Posted January 11, 2012 Posted January 11, 2012 I'd say stick to a character that you want to learn. Given any amount of time, you'll be able to pick up any character. As previous post mentioned, Ragna, Jin are simple r than the rest of the cast imo.

Besides people will learn that mashing D will get them killed eventually. Actually, they probably WON'T learn that, because people who are of roughly the same skill level as them will lose to it, and people who are significantly better than them are going to get written off as "Well, he was better than me." It'll take a really long time for the "Oh, hey, Drive Spam isn't a win button." thing to sink in.
mr.mortified Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 you realize that there is a sticky which deals with this sort of thing right?
A.X.I.S. Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 I'm tired of Noel hate, it is annoying. Noel is a perfectly fine character. Besides people will learn that mashing D will get them killed eventually. Isn't beginner mode Noel DxN?
BatousaiJ Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 Isn't beginner mode Noel DxN? No it's Ragna because Dead Spiku x N is the best block string in the game.
