mAc Chaos Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Sigh a rather convincing argument comes to mind all of a sudden -- challenge @ mAc to use his power to find a youtube or otherwise acceptable movie line quote... "what would the world be like without captain hook?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSGmQL7FrOQ#t=122m45s
Nemesis Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSGmQL7FrOQ#t=122m45s *stunned* epic quote is beyond applicable-- and the subsequent scenes are similarly appropriate as well.... ~_~ cause apparently decent behavior is boring ._.
mAc Chaos Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 *stunned* epic quote is beyond applicable-- and the subsequent scenes are similarly appropriate as well.... ~_~ cause apparently decent behavior is boring ._. Nah your post was good. I mean if you don't like playing someone then there's no reason to force yourself. I bail out instantly the moment I'm not enjoying it anymore. I didn't have any problems with anything Ctrl said to me though. We're just goofing around. Also I just realized... my grandfather basically looks identical to Captain Hook. Even the way he talks. ggs Dourshi. If you're on here. I didn't even know Dourshi still existed, let alone plays BB still. Does he still play Lambda?
Ctrlaltwtf Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) ggs OLink Master Ugh Relius makes this too easy. --- I just got a random message from someone named Magus Sephiroth and all it says is "bbcs?".... Edited May 16, 2013 by Ctrlaltwtf
Ctrlaltwtf Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) You are a magnet for randoms. I'd contradict you if it wasn't so fucking true. The Martian Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Oh wow, I didn't know that censoring on internet forums was still a thing. And when I brought it up earlier my post got hijacked...nice. In other news, I'm still sucking ass with Makoto. Someone halp.
abadlime Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I don't understand why bringing it up again would help anyone =/ Do tutorial mode. I'm serious. It looked like you did arcade mode on normal or something and jumped straight into netplay. It'll give you the basic rundown of mechanics and tells you to be on the lookout for other things. After that, settle on a character, which you did, and do challenge mode. Most people on netplay can probably do their respective challenge modes blind. Then go into training and mess around with some things you learned and find out what's safe or not and situational stuff. Of course, any questions, just ask away.

Yeah, I only did 7 of her challenges so far, but I forgot that there is a Tutorial mode as well. I'll have to check it out. Right now I'm trying to practice her 7th mission, even though I have no idea how to apply it in the heat of battle...lol.
Lunar_Divider Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Yeah. Practice til your thumbs bleed and your eyes hurt. To me it sounds like you are having trouble with execution. On the bright side, Netplay doesn't mean shit and pretty much none of what you learn on netplay carries over into the real world.
The Martian Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Why does the bot block after I try to land the C during Asteroid Vision sometimes? Also how come he can recover before I do the 2A input?
DeadliestxXx Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 There's a great combo video with potential makoto combos in any situation by Biiquadium. He has them on YouTube, you should also visit the makoto nanaya forums to read about matchups and stuff as well.
Chaoschao222 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Why does the bot block after I try to land the C during Asteroid Vision sometimes? Also how come he can recover before I do the 2A input? You're not inputting it correctly, simple as that. For AV > C(CCCC), if you try to mash it out, it tends not to work, you got to (in my experience) actually time the first hit. Then you can mash :DDD
Dark Ranger88 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Why does the bot block after I try to land the C during Asteroid Vision sometimes? Also how come he can recover before I do the 2A input? Which 2A input are you talking about? And yes, Chao is right you have to actually time AV into Lunatic Upper or it will usually drop, especially in netplay. You should figure this out before you drop your BnB on a Tager with 50 heat...that hurts.

Hey, I've done both now and can confirm that this isn't true. The hardest thing I had to adjust to about playing local was simply the timing for execution. The rest was the same. And a big problem for me at an event like SaltFest was not being able to hear the audio of the game. That really negatively effected my performance for a while. I can play for like 45m before work. nejimetroid's name is nejimetriod? Well the main thing is that what is react-able to changes because the delay isn't there. Some tactics that seemed 100% solid online become risks if you're playing offline against somebody with good reactions. Defense itself is way more possible without the delay being there. Also, if the TV you're using at home is laggier than an evo monitor they use at a tournament. You end up getting really surprised how much time you actually have for some combos, and how the timing actually changes a fair bit, then you need several matches to adjust. Not being able to hear audio is also kind of crappy, a lot of us rely on sound cues more than we think. Things like neutral game, frame traps, and certain mixups would definitely carry over.
CrisisEdge Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 GGs aspectsofwar82 need to do 1 on 1 rooms more often. Also I promise to tech more then two purple throws next time... Lol
JoshuaBlaze Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 GGs to OWNER and his amazing reads. In those 15 games, I only woke up houtenjined 4 times to try and throw him off since he was very aggressive on oki. Fucker saw each of 'em coming and punished me like the bad-boy I am. Loved it.

Yeah I hadn't thought about the TV lag, but that was probably a big difference. I really felt like Kanji was doing stuff really slow as fuck when I played locally lol. I expected the opposite, I expected the game to feel a lot faster. I had to take a long time adjusting to do 5B > 2B offline with him. I personally feel like not having the audio is a really big issue. That's not a "legitimate" way to play a FG because some characters give such important audio cues, like Carl. Carl specifically calls out what move he's commanding Nirvana to use so that you have forewarning even when you can't see her. You completely lose that when you can't hear the game. You wouldn't have any idea that she's using her projectile or her 41236D offscreen. Going to try and play a bit, if my internet decides that's allowable... p.s. I just read XDest's name randomly as "xD eastern standard time" Edited May 17, 2013 by Ctrlaltwtf
