I can guarantee you, it's not going to be every Saturday, I want to try this as a Bi-Weekly but due to a lot of people's schedule, it's probably going to be a monthly thing.

Chris Chaos Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 Yeah, Ve hit me up asking if the gathering was happening this weekend and hasn't said anything about canceling so I'm taking that as a "Yeah, I'll be there". Ve is really one of those players I've been wanting to meet since CT, all the way back to having a 5 second match in ranked and my power going out after running into the guy... Well, I'm almost done packing up my set-ups and I'm headed out so if anyone wants to hit me up, I did drop my number in the Gathering Locations Group thread.

Chris Chaos Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Casuals were fun, we couldn't do any recording, in fact it was probably best that we didn't. Everyone who showed up we played and chatted for quite a bit. Pizza was had and I got wings. Ignite Network Lounge was pretty hype about us building a scene for BB and liked us being there so when I told them this would be a monthly thing, they were more than happy to show their appreciation. After discussing this with the guys, I figured it would be best if we held this every last Saturday of the month so our next meet up would be March 31st. I hope this is far out enough for the rest of you guys to make plans on showing up, I'll make the reservations 2 weeks out so that we are guaranteed to have the slot.

I did the exact same thing for the Michigan Scene last summer, I can do that for our scene as well. Also, I've got a new upload and currently working on the next one, hope you guys enjoy this one!

I might as well ask since the space is already available and there's no venue fee, and even when there is it'll only be $2, but would you guys maybe be interested in making next month's gathering at one of the Nickel Saturdays in Northbrook? There's plenty of space there and there'll be several players playing other games, which would hopefully increase the likelihood of getting other random people to try out BB. There'll also likely be small $2~5 tourneys for AE/MvC3 for those who play other games, if we had a dozen or so players we could probably get our own BB one going as well. Figured it'd be worth asking, I'm out at Nickel most Saturdays as is.

Most of these guys wanted to have casuals at Ignite Lounge due to the fact that the Marvel/SFIV scene looks down on the BlazBlue community as a whole, which is why we hosted there. Now, if enough people are willing to go out to Nickel city next month and my guys aren't gonna be treated like outcasts, we can give it a shot, but if they rather stay at Ignite Lounge then I'll be making reservations there again in 3 weeks. Alright guys, post up and drop a vote.
Callisto Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 Most of the people at our local weekly events are pretty relaxed, many of them aren't actively interested in playing BB themselves, but they don't go out of their way to be jerks to people who play it either. When I had BB on last week, while I wasn't able to get anyone to play with me(in fairness we only had about 10 people there when I had it on my 360 because of the impending weather forecast, and 4 of them were MK9 players) most everyone at least expressed passing interest of 'how is Extend?' rather than deriding the game in any way. A few guys flat out don't like it but it's not like they're going to come over and make fun of you for playing it or anything. Even if noone is interested in doing Nickel I'll hopefully make it out to your next event as I am in dire need of leveling up @ BB, I just figure that having it at a place with cheap/free entry that already has space set aside might be beneficial, especially with several games going on in case you guys play anything else. I'll be at both GGA this Thursday and Nickel this Saturday if anyone wants to come out to check the places out, I'll be trying to keep BB on my 360 up until the AE tourneys are set to start, unless we have plenty of setups in which case I'll leave it on full-time.

I main BB but I play KOF XIII and am interested in playing SSFIV:AE2012 or whatever they are calling it now, LOL.
Callisto Posted February 29, 2012 Posted February 29, 2012 (edited) Usually at Nickel there's about 3-5 SF4 setups(360), 2-4 UMvC3(360), 1-2 KOFXIII(PS3), and one random thing of whatever someone decides to set up, SFII:ST/HDR, SFIII:3S, GG:AC, etc. Obviously you'll want to bring a dual-system stick if you have it, though I always have a spare 360 stick on me for those who need it. Anyone who can bring a spare setup is also welcome, the owner of NC was nice enough to purchase 5 VH238H's for us before we even started our first event there. edit: I probably should have said it earlier, Nickel Saturdays start at around 7:30-8:00pm and run until the place closes. I may no longer play Blazblue, it may have been a year since I've actually held the game in my hands (Despite still having JP copies of CT/CS) but I'll be damned if you guys show up and get ridiculed. I may poke fun at the game, but I ain't gonna let people talk shit about any fighting game. Sorry, you pay to get in and play to level up same as everyone else, if you let them try to belittle you or stomp you into the ground, fuck em. I joined the 2D community in Illinois as a BB player (When the scene consisted of me and three other guys) and ended up becoming a KoF and MvC3 player (Begrudgingly to the latter of course) You guys show me a scene and I'll pick up EX. Shows promise though. I've never gotten Ve out to a gathering ever, and I pestered him about it for 6 months straight. You guys are clearly doing something right. Come out to Nickel City Saturday, I think we'll have the Final Round stream up too.
