Rhiya Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 That video is good for showing what Relius can do, but I listed the combos I did for a reason. Your meter needs to be spent on pressure, corner carry, or kills. This means expensive combos aren't a priority; in fact, the opposite is true. Unless you're sending them all the way across the screen with your combo, you want it to be cheap so you can keep up Ignis pressure or have good okizeme after. Relius's pressure keeps people blocking for days but hits them much more rarely, so you will end up spending a /lot/ of meter on 6D and 2D to reset pressure and try different things to open them up or make them want to hit buttons. 236C>214C is some nice oki, but you can't do it unless you can spend for Val Tus.
Kurushii Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 236C>214C is some nice oki, but you can't do it unless you can spend for Val Tus. I think you got your inputs wrong. 236C is never used for oki and doesn't gatling into 214C.
Chazmobile Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I think you got your inputs wrong. 236C is never used for oki and doesn't gatling into 214C. He's referring to the oki setup where you purposefully end the combo with ground Id Lauger and then use Val Tus after your recovery (which is before them) so that they are forced to neutral tech and block Tus or get OTG'd into big damage.

Kurushii Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 That only works very near the corner. From the way it was written it was wrote that it was a oki. Not a setup into.
Rhiya Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 That only works very near the corner. From the way it was written it was wrote that it was a oki. Not a setup into. I just expected people to be familiar with the setup. And yes, it's a corner setup, but that doesn't make it any less important.
YukiBlue Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 This character is amazing. I'm having so much fun it's silly. Considered even dropping Bang to focus on this guy, But I'm not sure. I might just keep the 3. Playing against Nemesisenforser (In lag) Brought about a concern? Basic Corner combo for me is (Starter > 236C > 214A > 6B > 5C(2) > j.B > j.BC > j.236C > j.214B) Is sometimes goes Blue even though they cannot escape it? Not sure it its timing or whatever... Also, With the 6A corner combo, When I do 2C OTG > 6C > Haas - They seem to tech before my 5C, Or if I do it too early 4D can't hit, Timing problems I guess?
Kurushii Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 I just expected people to be familiar with the setup. And yes, it's a corner setup, but that doesn't make it any less important. Don't be a smart ass Dusk. I'm just making sure people are posting the facts and not giving out bad info for others to get misled on. There is a lot of new players to Relius that don't know him to that level and will take badly written info the wrong way.

There is a lot of new players to Relius that don't know him to that level and will take badly written info the wrong way. That IS fair. Expecting people to be familiar is bad when the idea is to be beginner-friendly You want me to edit it so it's less confusing?
YukiBlue Posted February 23, 2012 Posted February 23, 2012 I think theory fighter and making mistakes is a lot better than posting cold hard facts. Leads to exploration. But that's just my 2p. *Leaves. But still wants people to answer post 157*
Siefer Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 (edited) Worry about these. 5B>6B>6C>214A>[(dash) 6B> j.B>dj.(B)C>j.236C>j.214B] OR [iAD j.(A)BD>land j.B dj.(B)C>j.236C>j.214B] {Ignis summoned, midscreen} 5B>3C>6D>AD j.(A)BD>land j.B dj.(B)C>j.236C>j.214B {Ignis summoned, midscreen} Hi, I have a question on these two combos. For the IAD j.(A)BD part, are you saying to unsummon Ignis after the j.B? Or are you saying to hit them with a j.8D or j.6D or something? Do you know of any videos off-hand that show this combo? I haven't seen it done in any of the match videos I've seen thus far and having a visual reference would be helpful if one exists. Thanks for the clarification. Edited February 24, 2012 by Siefer
Rhiya Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 Thanks for pointing that out. I'll edit and fix those. God, I get sloppy when I write combo notation
YukiBlue Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 6B is so frustrating, what a shit hitbox, whiffs all day unless you Use Ignis 6D > 66 Blergh
Kurushii Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 6B is so frustrating, what a shit hitbox, whiffs all day unless you Use Ignis 6D > 66 Blergh Yea it has a really shitty horizontal hitbox. That's why you have to dash startup on some characters to get 5B > 6B to connect. What I hate is some characters I can do 6Bx2 in combo and some I can't. So many times I have had it whiff on Noel and others.
Zeron_X25 Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 I really need some Relius experience. Someone coach me pls.
Kurushii Posted February 25, 2012 Author Posted February 25, 2012 I really need some Relius experience. Someone coach me pls. What are you having problems with? I know you watch my stream and see what works and doesn't work for me against people.
Zeron_X25 Posted February 25, 2012 Posted February 25, 2012 What are you having problems with? I know you watch my stream and see what works and doesn't work for me against people. Well mostly just what to do, which combos to use in which situations, how to approach, etc.
Chazmobile Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Also Kurushii would it be okay for me to post some thoughts on the Noel matchup a bit later on, I have notes and ideas I would like to share on it.
YukiBlue Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Midscreen: (2A) >5B > 2D > 66 > 6B > 5C(2) > j.B > j.8D > j.BC > j.236C > j.214B/A Corner: *Normals* > 236C > 214A > 66 > 6B > 5C(2) > j.B > j.8D > j.BC > j.236C > j.214B Give me better combos. These 2 seem to suck, Even when I land a big move like 6C FC or Val Tus I do this! Stop my autopiloting faggotry.
Chazmobile Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 (edited) Midscreen: (2A) >5B > 2D > 66 > 6B > 5C(2) > j.B > j.8D > j.BC > j.236C > j.214B/A Corner: *Normals* > 236C > 214A > 66 > 6B > 5C(2) > j.B > j.8D > j.BC > j.236C > j.214B Give me better combos. These 2 seem to suck, Even when I land a big move like 6C FC or Val Tus I do this! Stop my autopiloting faggotry. Midscreen with Ignis active: Personally I use the one that Toasty suggested as it only does very slightly less damage than the airdash combo and uses far less meter and has good corner carry/oki too. It goes like this: [starter]>3c>6d>JC>falling J.c>6b>SJC>J.b>JC>j.b>J.c>J.236c>214b It is important to note for this combo that you must be at the peak of your jump and/or falling as Ignis does 6d. To do this I delay the 6d a tad just as I jump cancel. Corner: The one I use most often is the TK J.236c combo which also does good damage for very little Ignis meter as well as ending in 3c knockdown. The notations are: [starter]>236c>214a>dash 6b>TK J.236c>2c>6c>4d>3c>whatever oki you feel like. I'm still a novice though so feel free to correct me anyone. Quick edit: You can remove a J.b from the midscreen combo listed so that you can follow up Id Naiads with an airdash. Though this does sacrifice damage. Edited February 26, 2012 by Chazmobile
Kurushii Posted February 26, 2012 Author Posted February 26, 2012 Well mostly just what to do, which combos to use in which situations, how to approach, etc. Ill get back to you on that unless someone else wants to write something up atm. Im at work. Also Kurushii would it be okay for me to post some thoughts on the Noel matchup a bit later on, I have notes and ideas I would like to share on it. Others have already been throwing their "early" two cents into the matchup threads. You can just put it in there and we'll discuss it. Midscreen: (2A) >5B > 2D > 66 > 6B > 5C(2) > j.B > j.8D > j.BC > j.236C > j.214B/A Corner: *Normals* > 236C > 214A > 66 > 6B > 5C(2) > j.B > j.8D > j.BC > j.236C > j.214B Give me better combos. Midscreen you want to save meter and corner carry unless the opponent is low on health. You don't want to do double jump midscreen but end in airdash so you keep your pressure on. You can switch to rejump combos or 5B > 6B > 6C > 214A > 6B > Air Combo strings if you want alittle bit more meat on your damage. Corner go learn Challenge 15 if you want more damage.
YukiBlue Posted February 26, 2012 Posted February 26, 2012 Thanks for the posts both of you. Helped me a lot, I'll work on them tomorrow! And after 3C Corner, When I try to do the unbockable, the Buzz Saw hits low only on the first hit right? Do I just need to time it perfectly?

And after 3C Corner, When I try to do the unbockable, the Buzz Saw hits low only on the first hit right? Do I just need to time it perfectly? Every hit of it should be a low. It's just only a single hit of it being active if it's blocked.
