toanenadiz Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Because I'm only slightly interested in it to begin with, and knowing what I do know about the game there are already things I don't like about it. There are things I don't like about BB or GG as well, but the whole only being slightly interested in it adds more weight to it. I'm just not hype for it like most people seem to be. I sort of have to agree with you about that. I just read the gameplay primer and learned what is going on in matches. what is mlg anyway. Major League Gaming
TD Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 thank you toan yet again hmm, that site looks really important. why isnt bb up there D: (rhetorical question)
zeth07 Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Well, it has the weight of the Persona series behind it. A lot of the fans are probably going to play it. Yea I expect it to do well. To me it feels like P4U = Marvel, BB = SF4, GGAC = ST. Marvel has the appeal of using characters from pre-established franchises on top of flashy / fast-paced gameplay, like P4U so it's going to get more people to play it anyway. SF4 was basically taking the fundamentals of SF and trying something new, while still being solid overall, which is how I feel BB is. ST is ST, and in terms of Arc System Works games GGAC pretty much has that spot, but hopefully GGAC+R doesn't suffer the same way SSF2HDR did. I'll still play BB regardless.
Dont_Explain Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Well, it has the weight of the Persona series behind it. A lot of the fans are probably going to play it. It's gonna look there's a lot of people playing it cause of people who like Persona but probably dont even care about FGs that much will play it. I already know most of my friends are gonna get it and aren't that into FGs. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just I know for a fact they are just gonna press buttons (Sorry guys ).
Star-Demon Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I think we should play BlazBlue. I am going to play some BlazBlue right now, in fact.
NeoGio0o Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) @ Zeth my thoughts exactly. Despite all the anticipation/hype I'm glad you are able to stay calm, rational, and some debo/hench ass punch you in the face because your wrong ass nigga. Personally if the intial thought is to make an MLG Petition and make motivational speeches about coming offline, then I fear this game will have a similar life span of BB. ;( Edited June 25, 2012 by NeoGio0o
Krusiv Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) I could be completely wrong but I think one of main factors in P4U's hype is that it's a brand new anime FG series. It's not BB3, it's not GG+R, it's going to be a completely new game with a new cast of characters. Don't get me wrong I like BB/GG but it's always nice to have something new to play. BatousaiJ Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 You should get a 360, Star. Get a PS3 mac. Need more haku bros up in this bitch.
xntrikcat Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 What I want to happen: BB3 gets announced. Some studio makes a BB anime. It is licensed and imported to the US. Media distributors shell out money to support BB tournaments. BB becomes a gdlk tourney game with hype sprouting everywhere. We'll have BB parades akin to all dem other pride parades. I die a happy death. What will probably happen: P4A gets released. Hype ensues. People jump ship, play that for a while. BB3 gets announced. P4A dies when BB3 comes out. Anime fighters continue to be unpopular. World goes on.

Star-Demon Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 (edited) You should get a 360, Star. Why? So I can be a pathetically bad player on both platforms? Edited June 25, 2012 by Star-Demon

Star-Demon Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 BB3 won't have anything other than early development until XBLAZE is finished. PS: How am I still so incredibly bad at this game...
NeoGio0o Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 lol, NAH and poverty too strong This isn't what I was getting at, but it will definitely prove to be a recurring problem.
mAc Chaos Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Why? So I can be a pathetically bad player on both platforms? I want to see for myself. It's like visiting one of the wonders of the world.

Skye Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I just think people should hold off on all that and let the game "earn" it's spot once it is proven to be good and have the tournament support. I think people are getting ahead of themselves just because it is "new" and Persona. Don't mean to impose on the wet blanket party, but I'm sure that's the entire point of the whole petition. Quality is in the eye of the beholder so whether or not it's good (gameplay-wise) is yet to be seen, but we watch videos and we understand what we can, we communicate with Japanese players about shit to get a better understanding. Positively, the people who are hype for P4U on the grounds that "it is 'new' and Persona" is in the minority. It's not that complicated. Do you want the game to succeed and be taken seriously? Yes? Then what's the harm in signing a petition and supporting it in majors, attending or not? Not saying that BB doesn't deserve that kind of chance (again), but this isn't about BB.
mAc Chaos Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Just...watch the damn stream... But then I can't be there to personally help you REJOICE. Trust me, I'm an expert on this. Don't mean to impose on the wet blanket party, but I'm sure that's the entire point of the whole petition. What if we wanted it to fail.
ZeroRaider Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 HA HA TIME FOR REPLIES negative mindset How do we get anywhere with that kind thinking? Zeth: What I believe is the thing with P4U and MLG is that its a new(anime)game and they want to really make it to be the push for more offline scenes, competition, and exposure for these kind of games in general which has been a REALLY huge obstacle for them. If the goals are achieved, this could be the springboard this game, other games and future ones could really use. How am I still so incredibly bad at this game...
pneuma Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 From what I've seen in anime fgs is that they tend to decline in every iteration. Guilty had trouble attracting new players even though the balance improved. Extend is the 'best' bb game (maybe not the most fun, but good balance and it finally seems to know what it is) and it is suffering too. The fgc seemed intrigued with ct, but stopped caring. So many fgs and online is now more viable than it was. I can't wait for persona because the first in the series is always much more hype before everyone goes back to whatever.
Dont_Explain Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 Well we'll look like fools if we sign the petition and when we get the game say "Hmmm idk about this" or not go to majors cause of the usual money problems. "I have no means to support this game, but sure whatever." I think Zeth was saying lets not get ahead of ourselves. Nothing wrong with support, but don't overhype a game and then first major comes and it's the same number of people as before for BB.
Star-Demon Posted June 25, 2012 Posted June 25, 2012 I think MLG may be more interested in consistent star power than how many show up to majors.
