Quality is in the eye of the beholder so whether or not it's good (gameplay-wise) is yet to be seen, but we watch videos and we understand what we can, we communicate with Japanese players about shit to get a better understanding. Positively, the people who are hype for P4U on the grounds that "it is 'new' and Persona" is in the minority. It's not that complicated. Do you want the game to succeed and be taken seriously? Yes? Then what's the harm in signing a petition and supporting it in majors, attending or not? Not saying that BB doesn't deserve that kind of chance (again), but this isn't about BB. For some reason, the first part of your post reminds me of CT... And if no one shows up, then what was the point of getting it into MLG? Making sure people will play it long term first does seem like a good idea.

Pretty much this. Having a million signatures for the petition is all good and well but the difficult part will be getting people to actually attend. Give people a chance to play the game where they can find the cons and the pros. If the cons outweigh the pros and the game has a bad first impression (like CT did), then all this effort won't mean squat when MLG comes about and not enough people sign up to play it.

Everyone talks about the one and only game, Persona and the fact that it is based on that specific game is already giving it a head start. Heck, what the hell is Hokuto No Ken? The game is fun to play to mess around, but it was obviously as broken as the anime itself. It can be either good and boost the interest towards the Arc System 2D fighters or simply keep it as it is now. If people does gain interest and their games are all played at tournaments, it may also spread out and people who will start with Persona might gain interest into BB and GG later on ect ect, or stay to Persona only and never care for other games and then slowly disappear completely. Although I've never played any Persona games I'm moderately hyped for P4A and wish it all the best. I'm going to try Naoto first. Anything to drive out the 3d fighters and the Crapcom flagships, really. But can it really do it? We know it's got the advantage of coming from an established franchise with a pretty dedicated fanbase (persona fans I've talked to really are passionate about the series). But could it have the staying power? Can the fragmented anime FGC muster itself to give better support than what it has for BBEX (which, imo, is not a bad game at all)? I think this much skepticism is healthy, no?
