bungiefan Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 I just never got too hyped on it because I've only been able to get one friend to play it, and we haven't picked up on all the game mechanics yet. I've not sat down and just tried to go through Arcade or Story mode even yet.

Overplayed characters are overplayed mostly because of their character (Mei-Fang has bubz, so everyone plays Mei-Fang, or Kamui is the "cool" character, so everyone wants to play the "cool" character or however you want to word it), not their strength. Lise is top, Yoriko is bottom, and it's up to one's own interpretation from there. IMO, Fiona is still worth playing, and you can certainly win if you're good. She certainly has the damage, but she can't really pressure too much. Good pokes, range, etc though. Best arcana for a character is generally determined by what a character gains from that arcana. For example, Fire is considered so good for Fiona because Fiona can abuse the hell out of unblockable charge moves in Fire with her long range 3C. I'm not entirely sure this is correct, honestly, but Fire is certainly most people's top pick for her.

Not many play Lilica because she's too technical and not many play Heart because they prefer Saki or Mei-Fang. Saki, because she's easier, and Mei-Fang, because she deals more damage. Well... it's more accurate to say everyone "plays" Lilica/Saki/Kam/Mei-Fang, but they main Saki/Kam/Mei-Fang. I was thinking of pairing Kamui with the lightning Arcana... SCRUBBIEST COMBO IN THE ENTIRE GAME!!! Hell, you can play whatever you want but if you want even the slightest challenge, avoid that combo.

pbjmixxa Posted January 31, 2008 Posted January 31, 2008 Without a doubt, Saki works best with Lightning (unblockables + cheapest arcana + clashes). I do know Fire, Dark, and Love work very well for her as well. But... well, every Saki player uses Lightning just because it's too good for her.

GG experience makes picking the game up easier. HC aren't hard at all. Honestly I play better in GG now because of AH and I only have the game for TWO days. There is some girl, I don't remember who, that's hard to play.

IADs will fuck you up (but that's a bug in the port)! Aside from that, depending on which char you pick up, it's not at all hard to get into the game with a GG background. The game's VERY different from GG so the only advantage you have is that GG is a far more difficult game. As for which char, pick whichever's most appealing. The actual hard part is picking the arcana... but that can only come from trying all of them. and @Hatred - Almost forgot, Water-Mei-Fang's also very good as she can be protected from reversals. Makes rushing even easier! [EDIT] I think you mean Maori. She's VERY difficult to use... but has enormous ____ (I'll let you fill that in!)

I found IAD easier in AH but when I went back and played GG, I ended up flying COMEPLETELY over my target, whiff after whiff. Is that what you're talking about?
