Vvvv Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Word on the street is that they can't release the Persona matches due to copyright. Same for why there hasn't been a Persona Godsgarden. Strong chance we won't end up seeing any of the P4U matches at all, shit sucks. :/
Surf Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Yume Aigis lost to a Labrys? Damn. Id love to see that
excelence Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Sorry, using my phone to post, so I can't really check and link the videos. I'm pretty sure there was at least one BI combo in the arcrevo qualifiers, though. I've checked all(i think) the arc revo vids on page 5 of the video thread, haven't found it yet ... i'll keep looking for it.
Tari Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I've checked all(i think) the arc revo vids on page 5 of the video thread, haven't found it yet ... i'll keep looking for it. Ah, went and looked for it again, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zk6rkROqKA&t=8m6s It's not part of the qualifiers, sorry about that. Guess I remembered wrong. :/
excelence Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Np, and thanks for the video... And that's a very stylish BI combo finish... thinking about it again, if i ever in that position probably i'll safe my Burst and finish the round with D Moujuu >.>
streak Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 New Labrys player here. Any recommended combos a new player should learn? Also I've been trying out some stuff from the combo thread and certain moves just don't seem to connect. In particular, I'm having trouble with this Yellow Axe combo: 5A > 5B > 236A > 6~A > 66 > 5AAA > 214B Can't get the 214B at the end to connect. Not sure if I'm just not getting the timing right or if the Axe level actually needs to increase to red towards the end for the 214B to connect. Thus setting the Axe to Yellow in training mode means it'll never connect? If this is the case is it also true for the rest of the combos listed under a particular color? Do I always need to set it such that the Axe Gauge will still increase in Training Mode?

Do I always need to set it such that the Axe Gauge will still increase in Training Mode? Yes. The combo turns red here. You have to have the axe settings set on normal and not on lvl axe 4 for this to work. 5A > 5B > 236A > 6~A > 66 > 5AAA > 214B So when you do the combo, add a small delay from 5A to 5AA. Then everything else should connect. It takes some practice and its easier in the corner vs trying to do it midscreen since you only to delay the combo and not run up after the 6~A part for the 5AAA part of the combo. 5A > 5B > 236A > 6~A > 66 > 5AAAA is easier and works even if you the axe gauge set to yellow axe only though. Edit: Learn the green to red axe combos and the red axe 236A > 6~A etc combos. These are the most important ones. For the rest just practice whatever is the most high damaging combo that you can do. Just make sure its not too hard because some of those combos get hard and you can drop them easily. Edited June 12, 2013 by Tecta1Eastside

I can do it much more consistently now, thanks. Seems like it's possible to just mash 5AAAA after the dash if the dash is just right, but the window is pretty tight. Either that or I was subconsciously delaying it anyway haha Ok, I'll work on the green to red axe combos first. Also is it worth practicing 236236C after aerial guillotine or is it just not worth the effort? I understand the timing is pretty tight if the opponent isn't positioned in the right spot during j.C > j.214B and D super is easier to land in all cases.

I understand the timing is pretty tight if the opponent isn't positioned in the right spot during j.C > j.214B and D super is easier to land in all cases. Its not worth the effort tbh. I've dropped that combo irl once and lost a round and on netplay too much to try it ever again. Just stick with using 236236D if you need to use the super for an air combo. Its alot easier. It will always work for you vs 236236C which has to be timed almost perfectly. If you can do a ground combo and end the match with 236236C then go for it though. I linked a video in the green axe section. It has most of the green to red axe combos.
7r17r1 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Hello fellow Labrys fans (you can't play her without being fan of her looking at her place in the tiers list :D) I'm going to start to play P4U soon (yay, Europe), and I already had the opportunity to play some matches and, of course, to watch a lot for video. And I have a question : Why does nobody ever use Labrys' 5D ? I mean, it's not the best move in the game, but it still her only true + on block move, and it seems to me that it can lead to a lot of mix up.... but I see this move used like, once per 20 matches (not talking about combos here) Why is that ? What makes this move sux so much that people hardly ever use it. Especially japanese player like pure pure or bob, they really never use it
Vvvv Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 It has a low attack level and long start up. However we have found a number of setups that let you use it. Simple stuff like [Combo] > AoA > Slight walk back 5D~D oki, [Combo stuff] > 5D > 214A > ~D oki. I'd like to say they're.. "american" setups? Anywho I'd just check out the Optimal Oki thread, it has a lot of good info on 5D~D setups.
Tecta1Eastside Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 If we ever need help or want someone to look at our matches, we've got a critique thread. I'm thinking about taking some of my matches with my losses and throwing them in there. Anything to keep us going when stuff just gets flat out silly is good. I have to clean out the oki thread too at somepoint too. I know Setsuna and myself plan on making a video help show what this stuff looks like. Well more like Setsuna's making it at some point since he has HD equipment and stuff. If you have a certain combo you need to see then us know. We can put the combo in the video at some point.
Surf Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Oh, i was going to make an oki video since im getting a PVR soon. But if you guys plan to do it then thats fine. Ill get in touch with Azu- I mean Setsuna and talk about some setups that could be put in the video to help others I need to add some more of my videos to the critic thread. But i still have to work on my combos with her
RurouniLoneWolf Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Hooray for this influx of Labrys activity! It's time for the Labrys army to rise and conquer all! j/k. A big welcome though to the new Labrys players, streak and 7r17r1. I hope you enjoy the character Also, looking forward to that video Tectal and Setsuna are making.
edollarports Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) Tectal-sama how do I netplay? I can't 2B everything on reaction, spacing is weird, and everything becomes unblockable. I also drop combos but that's just online timing. I don't ever actually play online (or this game) but I jumped in a friends lobby for laughs and all this happened. My friend said to do such legendary tech as yolo jB and whiff 2B into 5C how do I survive in this twisted hell Edited June 12, 2013 by E$ports
Surf Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Best way to netplay. Is to not netplay But about what your friend said. First off, mever yolo j.B. Because against some characters thats the only mistake they need to take a round. The other things like spacing and anti airing just become easier the more you play the character. How many matches do you have down with her total
edollarports Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 A grand total of like 3 online otherwise, iernno... a lot. I don't need to know how to play this game, just how to be based netplay god :x
Tecta1Eastside Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 (edited) I'm not a netplay god or hero. I'm just hard-headed and wanted to do well with her. I just want someone to do well with her if its possible too. I didnt like the game that much at 1st. The more I played it, I started liking it more. If you ever start liking the game as a Labrys main, then you'll get better at the game and with the character. I know like 9/10 Labrys players hate the game when they main her. I cant blame them tbh because its just silly how our MUs work. They're really bad lol l like the game though so I'll keep tolerating the MUs. Probably sounds weird for someone to say you like P4U as a Labrys player lol. Edit: Setsuna likes our character too. LOL Thats why he still is around. Edited June 13, 2013 by Tecta1Eastside

I'm just not all that good with her and at fighting games ;.; I'm somewhat similar. I wouldn't say I hated the game when I first started playing at launch with Labrys but I really wasn't enjoying it as much as BB. But the more I played with Labrys and watched streams of the game, the more I warmed up to it. With Labrys in particular, I like the amount of patience and fundamentals that go into her. I don't know. Maybe it's because I got into fighting games with BBCS and would always play a friend who played Lambda. I got used to playing patiently pretty quickly and even started to really enjoy zoning MUs. I also really like the momentum aspect of the character. I'm actually really surprised how much I ended up enjoying her being a momentum character. It's part of the reason Bullet is going to shoot straight to my #2 spot come BBCP.
Surf Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Eh. I love Labrys but i hate the game. Even if i played another character, id still hate the game. Playing Labrys doesnt really help me.... Not hate it as well. What urks me about her is that its just anout 2-3 simple things that need minor tweaks to make her alot more viable. But... Im used to playing horrible characters so its whatever. The harder it is for you to win, the better you become in the long run. Is how i see it A grand total of like 3 online otherwise, iernno... a lot. I don't need to know how to play this game, just how to be based netplay god :x After seeing you have 3k and Tecta have like 4k+, i always realize just how little ive played compaeed to others. I think im like 1.9 or just hit 2k with her. Or maybe thats total for all the characters ive played. Who knows
edollarports Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Oh, I meant like...3. As in like, three. Maybe 30. Probably a couple thousand offline though. But yeah, tectal gave me the answer I needed. I hate this game, so without love, I don't have what it takes =u=b the power of love is mighty indeed
Eshi Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 I finally brushed the dust off of my Labrys today to keep my setups and hit confirms fresh. Her okizeme is ridiculously fun. I much prefer her in certain match-ups over others, though that's not saying much with Liz.
Tari Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 I know like 9/10 Labrys players hate the game when they main her. As much as I wish that weren't true.... But yeah, netplay is a realm many people will opt out of. If you have the option to play people locally, it's usually the better choice. When you don't have that option, though, well, there's only so much you can do. @Surf: P4's not exactly the best game. There isn't a whole lot of depth to it when compared to more complex fighters, but it's still a fun, casual-ish game. It's also a very good introductory fighter for people who are new to the genre (which is one of the goals of the game, so I'd say they did a pretty good job). ...and don't feel bad about your play count, haha. At this point, I think almost everyone here has outstripped me in games played by at least 1k. I'm probably still down in the low hundreds. ><
