MikelAL93 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) Discuss the matchup between Yukiko and Yosuke here. Matchup Summary Yukiko's Tools Her 5B/2B/JB Fans: Dia: Agi and Maragi: Yosuke's response to them Her 5B/2B/JB Fans: Dia: Agi and Maragi: Yosuke's Tools Yukiko's response to them The verdict of this matchup Edited September 18, 2012 by MikelAL93
gli Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 Really annoying match-up imo. His speed allows him to circumvent a lot of Yukiko's zoning tools. The most success I've had in this match-up involved minimal approach. I chose to stand my ground and let him come to me. Those random cross-up slashes convert into really nice damage for Yosuke. I think it's autocombo into Garudyne? 5C is a really good normal to throw out in neutral.
Akita Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 don't get hit by the idiotic Kunai... Frigggin eight hit+launches in the air... Even if one touches you, you get launched... If they have a special, you know for a fact you are losing a good chunk of your life
Warhound Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Fucking running into Yosuke's all over the damn place. They just swoop right in by sliding on the ground. Apparently that's invincible to Maragi. I'm still figuring out when I can and can't throw out things after attacks are done. Like for pressure, you send Sakuya out with 3D but after that, I don't know what I'm safely allowed to do. Either way, Yosuke's are really getting under my damn skin.
gli Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 If he does Dash Spring and the Yosuke always goes for Moonsault you can just jump-back and airthrow him. But keep in mind that Dia is the safest option towards all the options so adjust accordingly.
Warhound Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 *sigh* Honestly, now I'm just on a losing streak on everybody and it feels like people playing brain-dead offense characters get the one up one someone who's thinking a bit more about how they're going to shut them out. But then again this just could be my frustrations talking.
gli Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I know how you feel but it's just the nature of playing Yukiko. Just work on correcting small mistakes and eventually work toward a strong, solid Yukiko.
IllogicalDreamr Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 *sigh* Honestly, now I'm just on a losing streak on everybody and it feels like people playing brain-dead offense characters get the one up one someone who's thinking a bit more about how they're going to shut them out. But then again this just could be my frustrations talking. Don't worry, I'm in the same boat. I've racked up over 100 losses at this point and only around 55 wins. It's very frustrating like you said, when offensive characters are just ruining you while you're actually thinking about what to do and how to beat them and it seems to be easy wins for them.
ewic Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Vs the crossup moonsault, I've just been rolling out of the mixup all together. People who play defensively will always get a slower start in fighters than offensive players because you have to experience the offense first before you can defend against it.
IllogicalDreamr Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 (edited) Finally beat a gimmicky Yosuke player. He wrecked me the first time, but I got him the second. Man, my heart was beating fast the whole time. Yosuke is so fast that you have to be wary the whole time and watching out for all his little tricks. Ugh, beat by more Yosuke's. His speed is ridiculous. Yukiko doesn't have much of an answer for it since she's pretty damn slow. Had some success trying to intercept him in the air, but his mix-ups are had to block correctly since his normals and specials are so fast. Edited August 21, 2012 by IllogicalDreamr
choysauce Posted August 21, 2012 Posted August 21, 2012 It seems in this matchup it's all about making the right reads against yosuke, since zoning is pretty ineffective against him due to his speed. roll through a kunai toss jump against his rush attack block/roll? and punish his teleport roll dia/air throw/roll against moonsault i can't think of any tools that would help you win the neutral game against him.

The neutral game is basically where I'm clueless against him. I ran into a ton of Yosuke's in Ranked last night and I felt so free I guess it's one of those matches where you have to let him dictate the flow?!
E3vE3 WAZ HEA Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 does anyone know what to do against his unblockable and throw, i've tryed jumping, attacking, Dping, but i still get hit after i finish spinning. also i found that if he is spamming the living hell out of his kunais from full screen ,just dia or run across. if you choose to run he's pretty much an open target after words.
susano Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 It's usually not Yosuke's moves that bother me. It's his goddamn speed. How do I avoid this, how do I avoid that? Still trying to get used to the characters and what they can do. Maybe 100% AI Yosuke can help me understand what the hell to do against him.

Are you talking about Tentarafoo? It causes a confusion so your controls for left and right would be reversed.

It has pretty slow start up, so your best bet is to avoid it entirely. Just jump or hit jiraiya out of it. Honestly if you get hit by it I dont believe there is anything we can do about it except eat the free combo.
choysauce Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I think j.C is a good move to utilize in this match. low commitment and big hitbox (theory fightering here)
Ciddypoo Posted August 31, 2012 Posted August 31, 2012 I tried using j.C for a bit, but I'd just get my Persona broken by kunais or Jiraiya's air punch thing D:
steaksushi Posted September 6, 2012 Posted September 6, 2012 I'm seriously at a loss with this fight. :s
Warhound Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Experienced first-hand how much bullshit Yosuke's fucking furious action is. Dodge is the counter Hakumen wishes he had.
Ciddypoo Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 If you see it out in the open, wait till he flicks his wrist the second time to hit him. And if you block a j.2C (the glide thing), always punish with 2A, because at max range he can block / do another rage-inducing furious. It does make jumpins kinda difficult against him, though. You have to position your meaty projectiles so you aren't in range or you'll get swept cause he countered an agi explosion or something.
Warhound Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 (edited) Alright, thanks. But jegus chroost. Counter throws? C'mon man. EDIT: Okay, so I fought him again. And that thing has a horrendous amount of active frames. He basically spammed it, and 80% of the time something connected even when I waited for it to get done. Edited September 18, 2012 by Warhound
Ciddypoo Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 Are you using something like 5A to try and catch it? 5A's pretty slow, and at max range he'll probably catch you with a second one if you're too late. Try and use 2A. Hit the lab and just practice hitting him out of it. You'll figure out what moves and what timing you should use.
Warhound Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 (edited) Dia takes his Garudyne. Haha, how bout that. Guess I don't have a choice but to hit the labs. Not just for figuring out counters, but for learning blockstrings and how to lockdown people. Also, I beat a scrub Yosuke last night, simply because I put zoning in the back seat. It's weird, you actually don't want to zone that much here :/ Edited September 18, 2012 by Warhound
