Yea, they're only semi-cannon for the most part.

A semi-cannon?! TAKE COVER!!

That's one of the biggest things in BlazBlue, people do not give information to eachother (atleast with Jubei, Rachel and maybe Kokonoe). They can throw some cryptic messages or bits of information, but never just straight out tell what stuff are or waht they should and shouldn't do.

-BlazBlue +Fightin Games in general xD Honestly it gets a little wearing after a while. That's when I hit netplay.

Sorry for abruptly changing the subject, but do we know what connection XBLAZE will have with Blazblue? In September TGS had another trailer and in the beginning it showed scenes from Blazblue in the background and I'm really curious as to how that game will affect the story, it seems nobody has really focused on that much though.

The TGS2012 trailer (the one with dubstep) had this words in it:

Power of the Azure, Soul eater, Master Unit, Prime Field, Takegahara System, Susanou, The Black Beast, cauldron, Phenomenon intervention, Gate of sheol, sonsai kyoumei(life link?), observe, boundary.

I dont know anymore than that but you cant deny the connection with Blazblue as I see it.

Isn't it a confirmed prequel in terms of lore, timed prior to the release of the Black Beast?

Not really, the only thing that hinted that it is a prequel (which I also believe) is that the first trailer had the words "the wheel of fate is starting to turn"

Pretty sure there's an interview with Mori on the subject, I remember something of the sort being released soon after BBR, and more news at Summit.

Now that you mention it, this is completely true. My mind goes back to Continuum Shift with its whole

Rachel: Hey Ragna you shouldn't fight Terumi

Ragna: Why?

Rachel: cuz you shouldn't

Another good one from Rachel:

Rachel: You shoudn't use the Azure too much

Ragna: Why not?

Rachel: Because you shoudn't.

And the Ragna became the Black Beast

Hm...they say that they conclude the six heroes story in this game, and the keyword is the black beast, six heroes, cauldron, and the Amaterasu unit.Wait now I get a clearer pictures who is the owner of the master unit Amaterasu.

It's so bad, even Ragna just wants them to be straight for once.

Ragna's been getting mad about this shit since day one.

I think Ragna is supposed to be the audience surrogate character. Unfortunately, the writers failed to realize that the point of that character is to reveal things to the audience through other characters revealing things to him.

They kinda missed that last part.

I kind of feel like Noel is the audience surrogate character. We actually find out things with her. Ragna fits too though. You kind of start to see things revealed in his CT story mode. He runs into almost everyone. Sees Hakumen and Nu, and you wonder what's up with them, etc.

Yeah I guess they both are, really. I'd be comfortable saying that both Ragna and Noel fit the protagonist slot simultaneously. Noel doesn't seem like she's just "the chick" since I feel like she's past needing rescuing.

It would be quite badass if, through some Power of Order BS or Observer BS like being Observed a lot, he managed to eventually gain 100% power and break away from the Boundary's bonds, becoming "real".

I figured this would eventually happen since he';s still able to keep up with the heavy hitters. Ragna is actually one of the most powerful characters in the BB universe, he fought the black beast by himself for x amount of time. And now he has the Idea Engine, yet Hakumen is still able to keep up with him.

I agree she doesn't need rescuing. Personally, I feel what she really needs is to be strapped to a rocket and launched into the sun. :)

Didn't Ragna asplode his Idea Engine?

I thought it was fine because isn't his OD called "blood kain idea"? or something like that?

Yup it is, he has a legit auzre grimoire or wtv now. Hence why he doesn't lose health when using it anymore.

Jin is forever alone it seems. Seriously, despite being billed along with Ragna & Noel, he's nowhere near as important to the story as they are.

Jin has to go slap some sense into Tsubaki

Jin has to go slap some sense into Tsubaki

It would appear she's taking care of that herself, so then what's Jin to do, try to kill Ragna again?

Posted

So what you're saying is Jin must defeat Hakumen once and for all, setting aside the past and actually working toward a better future, but not one predetermined by the shadow cast from his parallel self?

Posted

Jin seemed more important than Ragna to me in CS. In CS Ragna kind of just loafed around and then freed Noel. But it's Jin that everybody is telling he has places to go and people to see and a destiny to confront.

That sounds like some good character development for Jin...too good for the writers to probably ever consider.
