Rainbow Mash Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 NE GG players you can expect to enter: Mindgam3 blueNINE Tales Katz Noisetank Genstov Vyers Possible Maybes: Nuclear Cheese Light_Nazgul Dave Chen We have more than enough people coming to do NY vs NE 5v5 Possibly count me in as well.
Vyers Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) Sorry Mash I knew I was missing someone:vbang: Genstov proposed that we do a mini round robin to determine team NE; top 5 get a spot. I second his proposal. Objections? Suggestions? Comments? edit: I'm super ultra broke, and also super ultra rusty so I won't be doing no MMs this time. I retract my earlier statement. I will be up for money matches. Edited October 8, 2012 by Vyers

Stop trolling Jamie Andrew looking back on your first post I have some questions about the tourney: . It's on PS2 Right? (I havn't been to Next Level before; I figured there's a slight chance of them having a cabinet) . Is it single or double elimination? . Any chance of a team tournament?

No, it'll be on 360. Before people bitch about the normal NL monitors, this tournament will be run on the ASUS monitors they use for TTT2. Double elim. Probably not. I'd rather do exhibitions and mms outside the singles tournament, apart from me not really knowing how many are going to show. Singles already 2.5x the cost of a normal tournament as well.

I mean: a) I don't have a 360 stick which means playing on a borrowed unfamiliar stick, and b) As a new port of Accent Core there is a possibility of differences/ glitches. Edit: double elim sounds good though, and mms/ regional beatdowns should more than make up for 3v3 team hype

Edit: double elim sounds good though, and mms/ regional beatdowns should more than make up for 3v3 team hype I'm confident there won't be any ridiculous glitches that affect gameplay. As for controllers to w/e console, if we had it on ps3 there would be the same problem with people who only have an xbox stick so there's really no way to solve that kind of problem unless each person is individually prepared with converters or a dual-modded stick.
A3Religion Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Before I go into the hyperbolic chamber, anyone want to MM?
Vyers Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I'm confident there won't be any ridiculous glitches that affect gameplay. As for controllers to w/e console, if we had it on ps3 there would be the same problem with people who only have an xbox stick so there's really no way to solve that kind of problem unless each person is individually prepared with converters or a dual-modded stick. The Japanese PS2 Accent Core port had problematic glitches. The Japanese PS2 Accent Core plus had minor glitches that barely affected things (Robo-Ky missing a link that most players didn't use). I think there is a chance of the new ports having issues. While it's true that the PS3 version would have the same potential problems as the Xbox360 version with glitches, and similar problems with stick/pad compatabillity, I suggest the PS2 version, because it has been the standard for GG since forever, most people that care about playing GG on their own stick/pad have a PS2 stick/pad for this purpose. I would also argue in favor of PS3 over Xbox360, because I think (and I could be wrong here) that PS2 to PS3 converters are easier to come by than PS2 to Xbox360 converters. (Speaking of converters does anyone know of any PS2 to XBOX360 converters with no/negligible lag a la iNPiN). I suppose TVs could be an issue if next level Arcade has no standard definition TVs. Before I go into the hyperbolic chamber, anyone want to MM? FT3 $10
The Katz Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 (edited) No, it'll be on 360. I vote PS2 'cause of access for most of the people who would be attending and actually entering the tourney, like what Vyers posted. It'll still be Accent Core by the time this happens, anyway. Something something extra console delay something something complete. Before I go into the hyperbolic chamber, anyone want to MM? FT5 $15 Edited October 8, 2012 by The Katz

There are PS2 to Xbox 360 converters readily available and they're made by the same people who sell the iNPiN converters. http://etokki.com/Xtokki360 I've played on these converters and they have the same quality of the iNPiN imo. Edit: double elim sounds good though, and mms/ regional beatdowns should more than make up for 3v3 team hype 360 is partly due to the availability of setups. But given that Next Level has a variety of of great 360 sticks to use as well as PS2->360 converters, as well as a lot of people who also don't have PS2 sticks (sad? perhaps, yeah), it's the choice. I trust ASW to make the port right, but of course if something acts up, I will change the console back. There's quite a bit of time to find that.
Troll Badguy Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 No shot for PS3 at all? Damn. My PS2 pad is finally starting to die I think.

agp24 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) I would like to place my vote for PS2. I would not have an arcade stick if it was 360, and I dislike using other people's sticks. Edit: Maybe I should read through the whole thread before posting things. Well, if it's 360, I guess I'll attempt to make do. That's a real downer, though. Edited October 9, 2012 by agp24

I guess if 360 is easier for venue setups and for most people I'll spring for a converter. hopefully if there are the non-standard glitches, they'd be patched out by the time of this event it is almost a month after the scheduled release I hope so too. At least we'll have PS2 as a backup. I can bring a PS2/GG if it turns out that way. By the way M.Song, are you thinking of coming? That would be very cool.
Vyers Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 So it sounds like we're going to have at least 3 regional teams: MD/VA, NE, and NY/NJ/PA (or NY, NJ/PA). We should discuss format. In the interest of stirring discourse I propose the following: . 5-player teams . A round robin between all teams . Pokemon style matches . Matches between players = 1 game set to 3/5 rounds. What do people think?
DaiAndOh Posted October 9, 2012 Author Posted October 9, 2012 2/3 rounds. Tournament games are 2/3 rounds as well (just 3/5 match).
Vyers Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Sure thing Biscuits. FT3 $10? Any more MM takers? Forgot you asked earlier. FT3 $10? 2/3 rounds. Tournament games are 2/3 rounds as well (just 3/5 match). 2/3 rounds is fine. In this case do you still want 1 game matches between players or 2/3 games?
Alzarath Posted October 10, 2012 Posted October 10, 2012 Do we HAVE to do 3/5? It's understandable why Marvel heads do it, but GG's nature doesn't really lend itself to luckboxing... It's your call though, I'm fine with w/e.

It's your call though, I'm fine with w/e. Well I figured since finals are normally 3/5 it'd be alright, and GG goes fast anyway. But if the general consensus is otherwise...
