ElvenShadow Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Yo im totally fine with a BB side tournament. Like, I dont want to shun the BB players. I dont play BB but im totally cool if people actually want to have a tournament. Yea.... last year we only had 8 ppl enter and im sure it was mainly cuz of the fact that it was between versions but we already have 8 main games and I think thats enough, but im certainly down for you running a side tournament, so go for it
Sym_ Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Would be awesome if east coast showed up to get a Midwest vs East Coast going.
Chris Chaos Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Some EC guys are supposed to show up from what I hear so it might happen.
ElvenShadow Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 Schedule 11:00 AM: Registration 12:00 PM: GGXXAC, SSFIVAE, MK9, P4A tournaments begin The remaining 4 singles tournaments will start a few hours later depending on how quickly the brackets for the first 4 games advance so that we can start switching out consoles. Finals for all games will be streamed. Brackets for all games will run until the finals, in which case they will be paused until ready to be streamed. GGXXAC teams and special exhibition will start after GGXXAC singles finals. KOF special exhibition will start after KOF singles finals are finished. Consoles for each game GGXXAC – PS3 SSFIVAE – 360 UMvC3 – 360 P4A – 360 KOF – PS3 MK9 – PS3 TT2 – PS3 SG – PS3 BTW I would love it if EC came for GG. I got money on midwest! What's good on dat 5 on 5?!
ElvenShadow Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 If you are planning to bring a setup (TV+console/games) please post in this thread! You will not have to pay the venue fee for letting us use your equipment for the day. I would like to have some kind of idea of expected inventory so that we can plan how to set everything up in advance. This means things starting on time and being run more efficiently. It also means that if we get TOO many setups, I wont have to turn people down and tell them to put it back in their cars due to lack of space. So please post up!
ElvenShadow Posted December 5, 2012 Author Posted December 5, 2012 So, I'm still wondering who wants to participate in the special 5 on 5 regional exhibition! Shit will be hype! Keep in mind that GG has a $500 pot bonus! Only a few more weeks to go! We already have like 150 signed up on facebook for Frosty Faustings.
Amadeus46Art Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Tickets to FF out of PHL and CMH are around 200 bucks right now! I'm really thinking of going, but I want to be sure I can split a room with someone else first, hopefully cut down the cost on that one too...anyone out there?
ElvenShadow Posted December 5, 2012 Author Posted December 5, 2012 Yea man! Huge turnout, big prize money, GG hype, and cheap airfare. Really no reason not to come! http://www.redroof.com/property/RRI188/Northbrook/IL/600151331/ Heres the closest hotel. Only about $50 for a room. I am sure you can find someone to split with. Lots of people always stay at Red Roof, and its right across the street.
Amadeus46Art Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Alright, got time off of work for this. Still need to get my tickets but if I can get someone to confirm that they can pick me up from the airport and/or maybe split a room with someone, I would love you forever. Please?

Amadeus46Art Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 I just searched through travelocity, and got flights from United Airlines. Dunno about from Houston though.
r0b0t Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Sadly Frosty Faustings is too close to the NEC 13 I just attended and thus I am going to have to skip this tournament. Even though I know this is probably the going to be one of the BEST GG tournies of 2012. And even still I do not want to spend the 400$ on airfare to go at the moment, got things to take care of. But I wish I could go.
ElvenShadow Posted December 5, 2012 Author Posted December 5, 2012 That's a shame, I guess airfare varies depending on location. For those of you who are worried about slightly high airfare, keep in mind there is a lot of pot bonus money to be won that could easily pay for it. I understand if people are busy around the holiday season though. Unfortunately it is the only time I can run this event.
TheSeltsamOne Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 (edited) I'm gonna start teaching some friends how to play fighting games and bring them along this time! Prepare for even more free wins in P4U and GG, courtesy of Kankakee County! Bit disappointed Persona is on 360 this time though; it means I need to invest in a stick so I don't have to deal with the 360 gamepad. Edited December 6, 2012 by TheSeltsamOne

I don't use it anymore since I play stick now but I don't mind letting you borrow it for the tournament. Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using Tapatalk 2
ElvenShadow Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 Unfortunately you can never make everyone happy with which console each game is on. I made my choices after consulting with the other staff who will run brackets and asking what will be available most for each game based on people that can bring stuff, combined with balance of usage split between PS3 and XBOX among all systems to maximize number of setups. There will be plenty of sticks for both systems there and I am sure you can find someone who wont mind if you borrow their stick for your tournament matches. In fact, I have friends coming who I know won't mind if you use their stick for either system so don't worry about it.

I've actually been debating over getting a stick for Christmas anyway, but if I can't get used to it before the 29th I may take you up on that offer! Yeah, I understand that you can't have your game of choice on your system of choice every time, but at least I know ahead of time so I can prepare!
LazyAlchemist Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 I have stuff set and ready to go for this. This is going to be my first tournament. Can't wait.
Brandinoli Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 I had a blast going to this event last year and I know I'm gonna have fun again this year since I'm actually gonna be playing in the GG tournament this year!
waynesworld Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 i plan to enter into mortal kombat in the official tournament but also would like to play UMVC3 and SSFIV in casuals
Chris Chaos Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 (edited) i plan to enter into mortal kombat in the official tournament but also would like to play UMVC3 and SSFIV in casuals I'm sure there will be casuals at the event on the day of and the night before. On December 28th, there's a gathering at Nickel City for casuals that supposed to start at 7pm, if you get there for this event, I'm positive you'll get a ton of casuals in. EDIT: I will be bringing a 360 set up and Persona if I haven't mentioned it before. I also have a PS3 with Guilty Gear on it if it's needed. Edited December 23, 2012 by Shinsyn
GrantLe Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 I've been unsure of whether I can make it or not until now, but now I can say that I am definitely coming. I can bring a full 360 setup including a monitor that can be used for any of the tournaments.

DaiAndOh Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Any update on stream? One of the few tournaments per year with GG being a focus....want to watch at least!
