iora Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 (edited) watching cp vids.... sigh is it just me or is there: 1: no big fun discoveries STILL in bbcp plat tech 2: everyone trading damage for oki is ridiculous amounts (like trading over 1k for a bubble) 3: everyone still dropping tons of things/adding tons of fluff to combos whats going on? ragna and noel combos now look awesome, nu is getting interesting stuff every video, and platinum is almost devolving since the week 1 tech http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IOLQ8u-yXLk&t=9m56s - like this was okay, but only seeing 3.8k off a blocked hotenjin punish? granted it was meterless, but also he had meter to add and was near corner.... i just feel like it coulda been better. and thats how a lot of the vids make me feel. Moy_X7 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Yeah, no one has really sat down and messed with Platinum combo as it seems. The again, it took Plats a good while to come up with good stuff in CSE. In the end, people were still dropping combos and not doing optimal stuff lol. Hell I only saw a few Plats doing the Pan Install corner combos and those do a shitload of damage in CSE. A 5A confirm with that turns into 4K+ and almost all of your Heat back. It still hasn't been that long, so give them more time. If nothing comes up by the end of January, I'm gonna be disappointed in Japan, give up on them, and just wait until I get my hands on the game lol.
iora Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 yea i hear ya just trying to learn the game for the n'th time, and im watching vids for once... and its like..... sigh. i wanna see some inspiring stuff. izayoi and nu have that "YO DAMN" shit going for them already.... but i enjoy plat more, so was hoping for something sick. a neat overdrive combo, some new midscreen path, something. i dunno. old man being grumps is all haha

suna19 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 there's the MJ Missile OD combos I think it'll be pretty hard to make an OD combo for platinum that would really be worth it. while having unlimited items is great, unless the properties of the items on hit are changed, not many of them can be used multiple times in a combo anyway. maybe some OD hammer loops, but there's not much else that i feel would be worth using OD for a combo with
Moy_X7 Posted December 31, 2012 Posted December 31, 2012 Yeah, Plat's OD doesn't seem too promising. MJ Missiles, Bombs, and Hammers are the only items that truly benefit from infinite uses. I wonder if some of Plat's moves get buffed during OD like with some other characters such as Jin (his EX specials) or Tager (some of his moves get new properties).
