So we have a combo here that uses both OD and CT mid combo.

Not to mention it looks like a pretty practical and powerful combo too!

It's really cool to see this character developing day after day. I was worried that he would get slept on during the first few weeks of the game's life.

Coming out of hiding/stalker/lurker/away status.

Looking for a sub when CP hits and although I will main Tsubaki, Izayoi doesn't look appealing to me.

not as appealing compared to Sparkle Glam Rent boy. :3

Damn, hyped for BB:CP. I blame Solar 100%

Also my account is outdated...I should fix that >>;;

BTW I haven't looked up ANYTHING for CP to prevent hype so I probably will have to spend a couple days catching up to everything

Can't believe I did not think of ODing at the start of a match. Amane is the only (i think?) character that really benefits from his OD after it has expired, getting level 3 drill out of the gate could be really good.

Well, Bullet gets free Heat-Up level with OD, while Haku gets, like, four stars. And I wouldn't say it's that risky, since the cooldown is short enough to use the Burst in the same round.

EDIT: Oh yeah, Tsubaki gets some meter, too, but it's not that much.

Oh my welcome back after quite the hiatus my dear!

Yes join the Amane Army. He's looking like he's gonna be really strong, and insanely fun.

Do we know what Amane's anime color is yet? I'm hoping for Simon from Gurren Lagaan since Azrael already has a Kamina color.

So, it seems to me that Amane starts to go from okay damage to serious scary damage when the opponent is airborne. I am noticing that a lot of his big combos are starting off of things like an AA 6A. With that in mind, I think it may be useful to figure out all the ways Amane can get the opponent into an airborne state.

6B fatal counter makes the enemy airborne and wallbounces

3C does, but this can only really be followed up for airborne stuff in the corner

j.236C does, but this can only be followed up on via RC

It looks like his CT does, but I have only seen it landed on already airborne opponent, good for a relaunch at the very least. I will have to test

j.2B at a low enough height makes the enemy go airborne (based on that 8.5k damage video, and another video at a higher height) even on regular hit!

If they are in the air and you are on the ground 5A or 6A into 5B seems to be the best generic combo starter. If you are both in the air already and low to the ground it seems like j.5B leads into a lot of combos.

So, it seems like forcing enemies into the air (summoning ground drills should be good for that :3) and using j.2B crossups are going to be pretty big when it comes to getting consistent high damage combos with Amane. Everything else requires meter or the corner.

Are there any other ways to get the enemy airborne that I am missing? Or some impressive Amane combos I may have missed that did not involve getting the enemy in the air somehow? All of his combos against grounded opponents I have seen are serviceable but generally seem quick and dirty compared to the air combos he is capable of.

Both of Amane's throws (ground and air) make your opponent airborne. As far as I know we've only seen these two throw combos: 5B+C > 623C and j.B+C > 5A > 6A > jc > j.B > j.236C :/

I totally forgot Amane had throws >.>

Good catch! Throw ranges seem very short in this version of BB. Amane's especially, I am not sure if his is actually shorter than other character's, or just that in comparison to his Bs, Cs and Drive it feels short. Also the fact that he has so much push back on a lot of his moves, combined with how good his chip is, has lead to me ending nearly every block string with the enemy way out of throw range.

Still, no reason to ignore a tool we have at our disposal.

Good choice. For me, I already have 2 mains which are Tsubaki and Relius (low-tiers lover) and one sub mu-12 (vs the character I hate the most Arakune)

And I will main Amane and sub Izayoi or Kokonoe (she will be on console version) or Hakumen since I like the character and he is a good footsies character (Azrael is becoming top tier and so popular so I can't play him anymore)

Before the game came out in arcades, I was planning to play Azrael and maybe Amane. But Amane convinced me. He is more funny and his playstyle is amazing. Izayoi because Tsubaki is my baby and I have to protect the yayoi dignity and clan, lol.

Anyway we will see.

LOL I used to play Relius too. But dropped him when I only wanted one character to work on. been with Tsubaki since CS2, I still plan to main her. Sub wise, I probably only want one character to keep up with. Amane is probably it.

Even though I love Tsubaki (and her with less clothes than normal is drool worthy and her outfit as Izayoi is amazing), the "modes" I've been hearing about Izayoi kinda makes me iffy. I will see for myself.

I'm looking at more Amane stuff and it seems more likely I'll try him out. Not hopping on the Azrael and Bullet train but he definitely caught my eye on how his matches flow. Drills and sparkles yo.

I wish I had more gameplay related stuff to ask or pitch in but I've been on the longest hiatus from BB ever and finally coming back to looking up info LOL. I'll get there.

I bought BBCS EX, only for trying Relius and then I stayed with him and I can't drop him, too funny to play.

I will never play Izayoi and Mu-12 at the same time so If I choose Izayoi, I won't need another zoning character. Now I think, Amane can do the work too since he can fight Arakune without needing to go in. Sorry Mu-12!

I think that Amane is going to have some serious trouble against a lot of characters. He has the potential to do some good damage...But...I don't like characters like this...W...

Ugh. I'm going to end up playing this character now and then. Azrael will forever be my <3. But the prospect of pure zoning is just god damn tempting.

I think it should be noted even though it wasn't Amane that did this but I love how Jin went into OD to prevent Amane from bursting the game winning combo. That's probably one of the smartest way's I've seen OD used in all the CP videos so far. I'm sure this can be used to assist the entire cast especially Amane. From the looks of things, we have a few ways to use OD:

Gain LV 3 Spiral:

- You can use it at the beginning of the round to obtain LV 3 spiral and if you manage it right preventing yourself from overheating, you can get some serious chip early on. It's regeneration rate isn't bad either so if the round goes a good distance, you'll regain it and if things start to go bad, you can burst in the same round.

Extend Combos:

- Doing so can allow you to obtain more damage and since the spiral gauge goes to LV 3, you could place a meaty on the opponent's wake up to to chip away a ton of barrier/health.

Burst Prevention:

- As seen done by Jin, and even in the video Amane does 11K on Tager (unintentionally I'm sure), if you OD mid-combo when your opponent has the option to burst, they no longer have the ability to do so. You can safely continue your combo without having to worry about the opponent bursting.

Avoid Time Over:

- Since OD activation stops the timer, if a character tries to lame you out for time or escape to the top of the screen (Looks at Rachel), you can give yourself a little more time to close out the fight IF you have that option.

Amane has some serious potential with the use of OD and I can't wait to see more tech with this mechanic.

Amane will be hard pressed against characters that move alot like Tao and maybe Valkenhayn. I think he will have the easiest time against Mu and NU BUT knowing how arcsys works.......they will give Mu a way around everything like they always do so that she can establish her dominance and they will mostly give Nu a way around Amane but with something that requires more effort. That said I am so happy to good Amane play at a fast paced high level that shows the player knows his character.

Personally, I'm hoping for Lisa Lisa from Jojo's, even though 'Jojo's' and 'static colours' don't exactly get along.

In recent videos, Amane obvously struggles against Makoto and Hazama, Tao I can see being a problem due to her movement ability and Valkenhayn is pretty iffy to me. Amane seems to do fairly well against everyone else though.

I wouldn't jump the gun on Nu and Mu yet (I'd throw Valk in the mix as well since there is no match videos of them facing Amane yet), I have suspect he will struggle against zoners in particular since their range is going to be better than his but that is an assumption so I'd rather wait until match videos come out before we get into discussions of characters that haven't faced Amane yet.

@Krusiv: I would love it if Azrael = Kamina, Amane = Simon, Bullet = Yoko. That would be GDLK!

From the footage, I'm thinking you won't need that big of an adjustment in those matches. Tao has lots of movement? Ok it'll be hard to hit her with C moves I convey, but none of the recent matches video seem to showcase that C moves is at the very core of Amane's efficiency at space control. They're good, but they're a big commitment as in if you miss one, you get some serious damage punish if the opponent is on point.

It'll most likely be slight adjustments tbh honest
