5A > Gustaf > 5A > TCL

wat

Probably suboptimal if 5B > 3C works on FC, but kinda interesting

It IS pretty interesting. It's amazing how much junk we can link on FC. Gustaf into 5A, 6C into 5A, 5B into 3C on standing enemies...Using all of those FC only links on a combo sounds interesting, but the sheer amount of 5As required to link each of them would probably ruin the proration, and they would also take a significant portion of the combo time. Better to go just go for junk like 5C(FC)>6C>5A>5B>3C~ I think.

There's 35F total recovery after the last projectile is absorbed. The first 16 of which are only projectile invuln.

Unless I'm reading that wrong and it's just 16 frames of guard point, I don't know.

Even disregarding a direct punish, Rachel can get in because he's sitting still for a guaranteed 35 frames or more.

Man I really want to say that it isn't punishable after absorbing projectiles, I just haven't seen it happen. I really wouldn't be surprised if it was fully invincible until the end of recovery.

Again though, I didn't look into this or anything. I guess it's just me being optimistic. Don't quote me on anything until I play this for myself.

Unless there's something lost in translation, the frame data implies to me that 1-16f after absorbing a projectile he could technically be hit but after that, 17f-35f he's invul. Or there could be a mook error, cause the section of Growler has a TON of information, all of which was translated and is on the frame data page but what you see is what you get. If anyone remembers back when we first got info, there was mention of Growler absorbing Hazama's chains but getting CH immediately after.

There's also this:

http://youtu.be/9zgjdNvlA8Q?t=27m3s

Either he got hit during the recovery or he tried to press a button which seems unlikely given that situation but who knows (it was a counter hit at least).

And when Dogura was fighting the other Arakune he was constantly blocking after absorbing the bugs, which tells me Azrael has to block after it at least.

Yeah, Growler is not the major factor in any case of why he has a good match-up vs someone with projectiles. He's forced on the defensive and at a general disadvantage on average when he uses it. Best case scenario is the initial hit connecting. If you get the projectile guard-point on a multi-hitting projectile, you're just locked down.

Particularly in this match vs. Arakune he succeeds whenever he gets in proximity of Arakune. 2C and j.C seem to tag him for some reason. Mix-up vs. Arakune also helps, whether it be high-low or cross-up. If you can condition in neutral or just be aggressive, then it will help in this match-up. It helps that Dogura can naturally read so well. However, it still proves that Azrael can be scary in both pressure and neutral. My favorite recurring mix-up is 'catching' jumps with 5D.

Curse is not good so long as the kune player holds the bugs back. Arakune is in control during curse no matter what usually, forcing the Azrael to be on-point with both growler and blocking. Outside of curse, Azrael in particular can abuse Arakune's weird air movement. Azrael just overall also has better normals and safer/better pressure at all times. If done correctly, you can aggress your way through the beginning of curse by either dodging bugs and whiff-punishing or throwing/throw-countering.

Yeah, for some reason, if you hit an airborne opponent close enough with valiant (particularly after a successful j.C j.C j.C j.2C hornet sequence), you'll start passing under them. Oh well, I guess it just makes Azrael THE LOVE PHANTOM.

It has guard point. It's just that burst is only one "attack" so it was absorbed and the rest of the move was able to punish. It's just like Bang's drives in that sense, except Bang's drives can actually absorb multiple "attacks".

She really had no choice but to burst so it wasn't too hard of a read to make, but knowing that Sentinel Dump can work like that is smart.

Senchou is my hero~

He had 100 meter and did a valiant combo and ended with scud then just "linked" BHS as an unblockable set-up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=gC--OM6v_HM#t=105s

Might have been a late tech, but I doubt it.

Also, that whole set is hilarious because Senchou is just doing GP moves in neutral not giving a fuck.

EDIT 2: This round is a perfect example of consecutive, successful mix-ups resulting in ridiculous meter gain.

EDIT 3: This whole set is just Tahichi being alpha and blowing through four people. Another Azrael hero.

Anybody know what the arrows mean when Azrael has marked the opponent? I know that one of them is an unblockable, but are their others?

Somebody has probably already mentioned it, but after flying through posts I couldn't find the answer to it.

Is that multi-dump throw combo the highest damage we've seen off 50% and UW?

EDIT: Side note, I love these Azrael mirror gatherings because they just troll and astral each other. It's like 30 minutes of pure glee. It also shows that Azrael-Azrael is like a 7-3 match-up.

Probably. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the Japanese players already have more damaging ones and we just haven't seen them. Or after seeing that video one of them comes up with a combo that does more damage. Definitely interesting to see though.

Do we have any info on Tahichi's experience with fighting games in the past? I really wonder what this guy was doing up until this point.

Just looking at matchups, Pikuri probably has the best chance of making it past the first round.

Assuming his Tsubaki doesn't get its fucking face kicked in by Dogura's monster Azrael.

His XBL profile shows he plays SF4/P4U/BB/Ougon Musou Kyoku X, but that isn't really much to go by. He posted a picture on twitter which seems like it was saying he bought AH3 to practice for Love Max, so maybe he played AH in the past too or is just getting into it. Doesn't really answer your question but it's kinda hard to know since most people only pay attention to "really good" or famous players, so if he flew under the radar in other games people probably wouldn't know of him even if he was playing them.

For everyone else not following along:

Dogura (AZ) vs. Pikuri (TS)

Tahichi (AZ) vs. Zonbi (TG)

From a match-up stand point Dogura has the best chance in my opinion. But I can't say I really know how good those other players for Tsubaki and Tager are since I tend to not pay attention to other characters unless they are fighting the characters I play as.

Tahichi and Dogura are easily two of the best Azraels so they have a chance to win no matter what. Guess we'll see how it goes.

I'd say, out of Tahichi's block, either him, Dora, or Konbanwa GACKT desu (Film? or A92? I forget which one's which.) has the best chance of making it to the top of that block.

As for Dogura's block, either him, Fenrichi, or Mitsurugi are my top 3. Dogura has shown before how he fairs vs. Fenrichi Jin, but I fear the worst if he has to go up vs. Mitsurugi.

Thanks for the info, zeth. I just wanted to see what kind of games he plays.

I laughed when I saw Dora against Film, because I think for God's Garden Dora got blown up by Film.

But on the topic of Azrael I was surprised by how bad he blew up a92's Hakumen.
