SolAscension Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 I suppose the main reason I picked up Makoto was because of hype. She'd just come out for CS and I had dropped Jin to play Tsubaki, Makoto seemed so cool and Alexandria got my blood going, when I started playing her I knew I was hooked.
farranpoison Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 (edited) Yo, dunno if this is the right thread or not, but I got some vids of me playing a random Japanese player. I was wondering if there is anything you guys could suggest to improve my play. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EHq0d65ofKY Also I swear that Japanese players are conditioned for throws. Like, I'll sometimes play Melty Blood with Makoto and do stuff like 2A > dash > 2A > dash > grab and whiff the grab, and then immediately 2A and it's always a CH. I thought it was a fluke at first, but after playing a couple of players and getting the same result I'm pretty sure this is the case. It's pretty hilarious. Edited December 18, 2012 by farranpoison
StarGazer Posted December 18, 2012 Posted December 18, 2012 Nice, i actually learned a couple of stuff from this video, anyway i'll try my best to add tips: -Try baiting the mashing or jump outs by giving them a false gap like eg: 2A > 2A > 2B > 44 > 6C it works great and a better alternative to 5B > jc since we lost it -I don't know how credible is 214CD in CP, but try to go for it if you are forced into doing 5B > 6C because of Barrier pushback, eg: 2A > 2A > 5B > 6C > 214CD. a lot of players use IB barrier to push you out forcing you into resetting or going through weak, easy to anticipate strings like 2A > 5B > 6C were they could poke you out easily. -Getting 5CC gatling quickly then going for 6B can do wonders eg: 2A > 5CC > 6B, they either eat your overhead or miss the chance to IB the 5CC which makes 6B gatling a frame trap instead of a gap. -Yeah, Makoto tick throw set ups are sick. Remember, doing meaty j.2C over Makoto can beat her Corona Upper lol, its legit. You can use CSEX critique thread.
StarGazer Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 (edited) Till now i haven't seen anyone doing PF neither BBS after Shooting Star... Do we know if it's still super cancelable or not? Edit: OD duration? OD発動時持続時間(キャンセル発動すると通常時と比べて時間が半減する模様) マコト OD持続時間 100%時:3カウント 50%時:5.5カウント 10%時:10カウント 他のキャラと比べて体力50%時の持続時間が短い。 Edited December 20, 2012 by StarGazer
SolAscension Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 I'm liking how asteroid vision b actually seems viable for pressure on approach now.
StarGazer Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 No longer jump cancel-able But hey you are right, the new pathing looks less susceptible to stuff like Ragna 5B or Jin 5C.
Teutonicknight Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 No longer jump cancel-able But hey you are right, the new pathing looks less susceptible to stuff like Ragna 5B or Jin 5C. That's going to be a nice change for us. And what is not jump cancel-able?
StarGazer Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 (edited) You cant jump after Astroid Vision B/C, eg: 214B > j.A whiff > Jump, and 214B > j.B > jump > j.D are no longer possible anymore. Edited December 23, 2012 by StarGazer
SolAscension Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 :psyduck:I didn't know I could do that anyway so no big loss >.>;
Teutonicknight Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 That's not TOO bad... I thought we lost something major for a second. Do you know if Lightning Arrow is useful again? I mean it had SOME use in Extend, but was pretty much "last ditch" for neutral game if you wanted to be unpredictable. I really hope it is useful again, because that attack needs to combo normally, without the need for a counter, and its usefulness would increase three-fold.
SolAscension Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 It's good for pressure and in overdrive, but won't combo outside of counter hit.
Yazumatto Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 So uhh... who are the top Makoto players right now? o.o
StarGazer Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 http://sp.bbcp.ac/ranking_view.php?mode=exe&type=psr_rank&couse=&charactor=mk&pref=0 Top Makoto players Ranking, wish they used straight names so i can recognize them. Oh well, at least i know that Kuroko is in 6th place and that Matsu on the top.
BlackKaizer Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 (edited) Turns out cosmic ray does indeed have its uses for combos, at least in OD 20:00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k7rgTG8VMZE&feature=youtu.be ANOTHER!!!! 5:30 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apwS4Rog42c Any reason for using comic ray, over shooting star? Edited December 25, 2012 by BlackKaizer
StarGazer Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 ANOTHER!!!! 5:30 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apwS4Rog42c This is a straightforward Shooting Star not a Cosmic Ray, or were you referring to it in the first place? Any reason for using comic ray, over shooting star? Using Cosmic Ray in OD combos over Shooting Star?!? why not both! If you were talking about usage in neutral then each move has its own use, no need to take one over the other.
MoneyD90 Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 For neutral Shooting Star to punish people that like to mash and Cosmic Ray for reset/long distance ground approach. Everything StarGazer said is correct too and I'm sure you already know as a Makoto main that she has to really play by the "shit is situational" mentality. On another note Shooting Star without the need to 214A is beastly.
Teutonicknight Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 (edited) On another note Shooting Star without the need to 214A is beastly. And if it Wall-Sticks, that's even less recovery for the opponent. Shooting Star is going to be a deadly counter move now that we don't need AV to pull it off. I'm assuming it's still crap on block, but if it's used correctly, it's going to be scary. And is Stargazer (the move, not person) turned to crap, or is it still comboable? Edited December 27, 2012 by Teutonicknight
StarGazer Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Stargazer is still useful as a mix up or as a crouch confirm. So in the videos Ryota and Matsu are using 2C > 214B j.C j.B > land > j.B j.D and i freakin love it, good idea to bypass double jump limitation on AV B/C. On another note: Makoto execution looks hilariously easy in CP, and with the new Lander Blow/Cosmic Ray her pressure looks easy too.
SolAscension Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 In the Ryota match he runs up and shooting stars to bait out the Ashura on wake up.
YukiBlue Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 Gonna play Makoto in CP. Just letting you all know. Your boards are going to become a lot more retarded with me here. Regards.
MoneyD90 Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Welcome to the furry loving/under boob/guys who like girls that punch stuff club.
SolAscension Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Should we make a video discussion thread?
Yazumatto Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 Gonna play Makoto in CP. Just letting you all know. Your boards are going to become a lot more retarded with me here. Regards. Teach me how to gomikuzu. I need someone with epic kicks to go with the waifu's epic punches. Also, welcome.
StarGazer Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 http://sp.bbcp.ac/ranking_view.php?mode=exe&type=psr_rank&couse=&charactor=mk&pref=0 Guess who is the 1# Makoto player in ranking? Yes, its Goro (unless someone else changed his ID to Goro lewl) Should we make a video discussion thread? Discuss in videos things here on this thread, the video thread should be left for posting videos only. Out of BBCP topic, i finally made it to 8K before 2013 Played all my matches with Makoto no matter how casual it was, i only play other characters either to teach friends or to show them how amazing and diverse BB characters can be.
