Teutonicknight Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 yo wtf. a couple of times in th e last couple days I've gotten really low air throws. and RC'd and ending up doing jump Ds............. I must see this, lol Is there a way you can get a pic of how low you caught them?
Errol Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 nah. just set a dummy to jump, sync your jump with him and grab when you're landing. you RC and if you do stuff at the normal timing, you end up doing some air crap.
Yazumatto Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Makoto has been boring the fuck out of me for the past 6 months so I want to play someone else. Amane looks very interesting and I've been really enjoying zoning/keepaway playstyles in games recently, I think I can do well with him. I'll still play Makoto because she's the easiest character in the game, but I'm really not feeling her anymore. Winning tournaments is a secondary motivation, tbh. My mindset has always been that I can do well with anybody if I apply myself, so might as well use someone that I have fun with. I respect your answer. EX Makoto is definitely not the high-flying squirrel I'm used to. Honestly, I'm surprised you stuck with it for 6 months if it was that boring. I just stopped playing altogether. Character loyalty is a power motivator, but if I feel it's honestly just a mental block preventing me from doing as well as I could then I will jump ship. Still in Makoto's case she doesn't look nearly as barebones as she does in EX. Winning didn't even feel fun in this version. I've always been lucky that the characters I liked were either high-tier or down-right broken. At first, anyway. >.> In any case, I'm treating CP Makoto like Chin treats CP Hakumen: never ever burst and letting her get in touch with her CS2 self, one 5k-8k combo at a time.
Errol Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) 5k-8k combos is EX material Makoto and Ragna are basically the same character, except Makoto is more unsafe so her footsies are more limited. I think she's the easiest in the game really just because she's worse than Ragna so her gameplay is more simplified. Nitpicking, I know. and yeah, none of my character choices in BB are motivated by winning because literally everyone is completely viable in EX/CP. I treat other games differently, though. Like Injustice. Ok, I got you somewhat. I mean, you have less options, you have less things to do. But, I think you can take that another way. For example, that Elizabeth has an easier time on defense than Mitsuru because she doesn't have to think about using an FA. I see this for other games too. The opinion that since there is less you can do it is simpler and easier. I can agree on simpler, but it's not necessarily easier. Like finding a needle in a haystack. Edited June 12, 2013 by Errol
Teutonicknight Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I never seen Makoto get that much damage. It's unlikely you'll see 100 Heat with her anyway, the most damage you're getting per round is usually 3k-4k, 5k at best. Now if you do have 100 heat, you will get 7k, but I have never seen 8k done in EX before with Makoto.
Errol Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 5-6k is regular with 50 heat. it does take 100 heat for the 7k stuff. and you'll have to burn a burst (or two) for 8k on top of that 100 heat. but then I think the really upper limits damage for OD combos in CP are not so practical either.
Teutonicknight Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I never thought about wasting bursts to get in extra damage, they prorate like a bitch, haha But damn, it would be a shame if you had all that Heat and the bursts to pull it off, and then you mess up, you wasted a crapload of reasources! But still, the opponent has plenty of time to burst out of it themselves. :/ At least OD combos look cool. Practically, I think the flashy high-damage ones can be functional, but are somewhat situational. Now as for the basic BnB OD combos, deadly and cool looking and I don't think they are burstable, lol Either way, CP Makoto is a lot more robust so far, I like the brutality of her new combos.
Errol Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) apparently lunatic upper is quick enough now to pick up someone after a crush trigger. which might make it decent, though we haven't seen it in videos. like it would seem that you could 5c > 2c> CT > LU> GA> stuff as a midscreen punish combo then. Yeah but 5k is a meterless OD combo this time. 6k-7k uses 50-100 heat. 8k is near max OD time + 100-125 heat. If Kuroku's combo video is anything to go by, a lot of these are more practical than they seem and many contain corner-to-corner carry. Considering you can use OD's active frames to avoid some moves to get that OD 5B starter, it definitely seems more practical than double gold-burst combos. Plus, OD combos look infinitely better than the stuff in EX. "Oh I'm doing the exact same combo except it has more damage because I used a burst?" Pass.
Errol Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 tbh most of the time the tsubaki player I was playing against used OD on wakeup, he just continued blocking. largely I was doing jabs so it makes sense. Most people will be 2b'ing the shit out of our parries, DPs and such so while it's possible I don't think it's gonna be all that often.
Yazumatto Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 True, but when it does, it's gonna be glorious. That's where the fun seems like it's going to come from: developing those sweet OD combos. Gotta have something to do other than anything into 6C > Star Gazer.
Teutonicknight Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I know that's right. When I saw Comet Cannon connect with the enemy from far away during an OD combo, my jaw dropped. The possibilities are huge if you can string that stuff. And we have back all sorts of other sweet crap like USEFUL, combo-friendly Lightning Arrows again in OD! And pretty much all OD Drive attacks are going to be lightning fast Fatal Counters that hit harder than the standard ones, so I'm expecting serious damage off of even the slightest mistake from the opponent, because since Lvl4 D comes out of nowhere, they won't have much room to screw up. I can imagine being under that kind of pressure, and it seems quite scary.

I'm probably just being emo again. who knows, maybe I'll like Makoto in CP. The new jB > jB combos are pretty cool. overdrive combos look fun. orb oki isn't trash. 2D LV2 finally has a purpose and it's a good one. Perhaps I'll play her and Amane evenly so I can Amane counterpick the match-ups I can't stand (Ragna, Noel, Hazama). Edited June 12, 2013 by Eshi
Teutonicknight Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Amane is the first of the new characters I am trying, he has the more interesting fight style between the new characters along with Izayoi and Kagura. If we get even more characters for console release, I am going to be so overwhelmed for choosing a sub.
Yazumatto Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 New tier list circulating Twitter made by someone in Japan I don't know: S+: Tao, Valk, Litchi S: Hazama, Jin, Hakumen A+: Rachel, Relius, Mu A: Azrael, Carl B: Everyone else (That's Arakune, Bang, Bullet, Makoto, Noel, Nu, Ragna, Tager and Tsubaki) B-: Platinum, Amane C: Izayoi Discuss.
TD Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 seems legit (why is platinum so low though?) some changes from last time, notably makoto, bullet and rachel moving up azrael looks like he went down. very surprised izayoi is -still- so low, she looks pretty good! amane, not as much surprised
Yazumatto Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 It started from here though: https://twitter.com/ss_suya/status/345072863688159232 I think he just translated it.
TD Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Apparently Plat's OD is ass. oh... yeah what else could they give her. like unlimited item and instant miracle jeanne on the first combo. oh well, sucks for plat that's a jiyuna list what makes you say that? is it because makoto is higher? (for the record, l thought she should have been moved up) EDIT: ok, minus the translation by him, this list looks very legit. his other list were blatantly wrong for comedic effect.
Bibiquadium Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Jiyuna simply translated it from a top Valk player. Makoto deserve the B spot.
Yazumatto Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Unlimited items from Plat look hella fun though. Every time I see someone pop it, they either chip someone out with Unlimited Cat Missiles or get launched off the top of the screen by the Rocket Cat-in-the-box counter. Then again, fun doesn't mean effective though lol.
