Nemesis Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I was fooling with parry yesterday because it occurred to me that I probably should make use of it more than I have been. Really is serious damage with an RC.. but so difficult. Need to see if, with practice, it becomes good enough on the risk-reward side.seems like it should be. I dont really see why its not worth it -- goldchamp: the only makoto that can manage to keep my attention, uses it fairly often w/o me punishing him for it very often (thanks to his spacing/timing) -- he even manages quite a few good counters and has taken some serious time to improve his timing and finesse. This isnt to say that he wasnt blown up for working on parry for.... like... awhile lol. I'd recommend applying skill time into it, but I recognize just how easily it can go wrong for you too (something I know... intimately about as well) The dmg that can come from the parry can - imo - be used as a significant clutch maneuver as when games near the end players tend to become either more reckless, desperate, or turtly -- and judging from the gameplay up to that point you should be able to read them and anticipate a mashed out move <3
Teutonicknight Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Kill em' with style. Opponents tend to forget Makoto even has a parry anyways. It's not overly useful by any means, but I am glad it is there. It is fun to use, and is one of the moves that kept me playing her. Fun to mess around with mainly, use it against certain Distortions for maximum coolness. Ever got caught in a huge Carl combo while parrying? You'll be in blockstun parry catch for like 10 whole seconds parrying nonstop, lol Looks so badass. <3
Nemesis Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Kill em' with style. ...... Looks so badass. <3 in the end... this is all that really matters ... keep yourself interested by any means necessary -- even ridiculous completely impractical ones -- when i was new in the mu forums everyone thought i was insane for the ideas I had -- well... look at me now... lol amirite?
Errol Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I parried legacy edge yesterday. he ran up to me while it was parrying all the hits, and then when the hits stopped the catch stunned him and I did the followup. it was hilarious stuff, even if a gimmick. Granted one worth taking sometimes, because a lot of the time blocking a legacy edge means the round is over.
Teutonicknight Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 And lesson learned, j.2c is the best move in the game.
Nemesis Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 parry legacy edge -- that I would like to see... sometimes when you do impressive stuff players will just sit back and watch it lol-- giving you the style advantage -- egoism +1! and orz at makoto Air to ground... the wiffs always make me think untrue things like that I dodged it ~_~ @Errol.... stop making only private rooms ...... i wana see how bad/good our connection is as I am fairly sure I know you through someone else.... who was it again... augh this is gonna drive me crazy cookie -- thats it
Teutonicknight Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 No, parry Nu-13's legacy edge since it lasts way longer, that's even more legit.
Errol Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 @Errol.... stop making only private rooms ...... i wana see how bad/good our connection is as I am fairly sure I know you through someone else.... who was it again... augh this is gonna drive me crazy cookie -- thats it I don't run a low-class walk-in place bro. You need to make an appointment. No, parry Nu-13's legacy edge since it lasts way longer, that's even more legit. She's just gotta run up and wait for the parry to end, unfortunately. I think it should not generally work against people that have seen it before or well, know what to do. If I'm not mistaken, of course.
Nemesis Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 I don't run a low-class walk-in place bro. You need to make an appointment. Entertaining response -- but indicative of PSNs generally weaker player base than XBL -- I suggest you rework your business model. But surely -- we'll do just that Im gonna go eat and see if gold will fight me -- if not then your up friend~ unless shitty PSN connections have different plans ~_~

Anyone with that impression should fix it. Should also mention that I am at work and will be 2.5 hours before I am home, but I will gladly play you at some time. friend me

Nemesis Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 also, leave toan alone doing anything more is literally impossible -- yea our connection might be iffy -- altho i often connect with New york w/o incident -- we'll see how it turns out -- if its shit then *shrug* oh well maybe the next iteration
Eshi Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 (edited) ...I was about to write a long-winded statement without getting all the details so I'll ask questions first. Is this choice made because he looks more fun to you, Eshi or do believe he's more capable of performing in an American tournament setting? Makoto has been boring the fuck out of me for the past 6 months so I want to play someone else. Amane looks very interesting and I've been really enjoying zoning/keepaway playstyles in games recently, I think I can do well with him. I'll still play Makoto because she's the easiest character in the game, but I'm really not feeling her anymore. Winning tournaments is a secondary motivation, tbh. My mindset has always been that I can do well with anybody if I apply myself, so might as well use someone that I have fun with. Edited June 11, 2013 by Eshi

As much as some people may not agree or like to hear it, I think character loyalty is very secondary to having fun, or winning if that's what you get pleasure (or money) out of.
Bibiquadium Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Oh well. There was a time I used to care about my performance in tournaments but not anymore. I just want to enjoy playing the game to the fullest and do dumb combos, that's what I like and Makoto brings all that I need/want the rest will come eventually.

Don't I remember you in the TYG forums saying you were doing better with Tsubaki after like a day compared to Makoto? I like to play rushdown chars. I'll play both in CP... don't know if I will pick anyone else up but probably not.

I also don't recall Makoto being the easiest in the game, that title belongs to many other characters. And I do not switch characters for the sake of winning tourneys or money. If I didn't earn that win with the character I like, then I just wasted my time. As long as my character stands at least a decent chance, I'm fine by it. I switch to have more fun. Not enhance my chance of winning. But I have totally different philosophies, so do as you wish. Back on topic everyone, this is a New Hope we're looking for, afterall. OmniSScythe Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Character loyalty is a power motivator, but if I feel it's honestly just a mental block preventing me from doing as well as I could then I will jump ship. Still in Makoto's case she doesn't look nearly as barebones as she does in EX. Winning didn't even feel fun in this version.

Back on topic everyone, this is a New Hope we're looking for, afterall.Makoto and Ragna are basically the same character, except Makoto is more unsafe and her footsies are more limited. I think she's the easiest in the game really just because she's worse than Ragna so her gameplay is more simplified. Nitpicking, I know. and yeah, none of my character choices in BB are motivated by winning because literally everyone is completely viable in EX/CP. I treat other games differently, though. Like Injustice. Edited June 12, 2013 by Eshi
Teutonicknight Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) Injustice is just MK9 with DC characters. :P And now, 1 MK9 character as well, so far, lol Not a horrible game, but it's on the simple side. Likewise, I treat other games differently. Edited June 12, 2013 by Teutonicknight
Errol Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 yo wtf. a couple of times in th e last couple days I've gotten really low air throws. and RC'd and ending up doing jump Ds.............
