I lol'd at that BK DS combo for 6K and that Rehyou OD combo for 4K.

Basically, if you have 25 Heat, anything you do in the corner is going to do ridiculous damage.

We have...

Somewhat close to the corner:

5D > 214D~C, 66 6C > Stuff for anytime, anywhere confirms.

6C > 214D(Whiff)~C, 66 6C > Stuff for crouching and anti-air/air hit confirms.

In the corner:

CT mid-combo for stupid damage

OH HIZANGEKI into 4K

HIZANGEKI to extend air-to-air confirms

DP D for Burst baits and extra damage

Now I'm just wondering if something like air-to-air Stuff > j.D, (land) 5C > 214D~C works and how much damage air-to-air Stuff > j.D (land) > 5B > Sekka stuff does. All Jin needs is 25 Heat to do dumb damage lol.

I think maybe as far back as CT? i remember that on the DVD, but i dont recall seeing players really doing it until CP.

Posted

I wouldn't know that, because I didn't even know what a DP was back in CT/CS1, much less a burst bait. XD I'm kinda curious to know though...

Meh, I've been baiting Bursts with JCs since the caveman days. It's easier to just up+back on reaction than to do the DP motion in anticipation.

Posted

Well I guess JC'ing might be harder on reaction in CP due to the faster pace of the game and bursts being faster. And doing the DP D is kind of like an option select, you're not gonna lose anything but 25 heat.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. In CP you'll most likely just have to anticipate the Burst and use the proper Burst bait for it; DP D, JC, and OD seem like good options.

Has anyone ever used Yukikaze as a Burst bait? I should try it once for the lulz.

I've done it before after an IAD j.2C > j.C combo, whilst buffering Yukikaze.

It seems to be strict on timing for baiting bursts though, because sometimes when I bait bursts with it, the opponent can move after, and sometimes they can't. I guess what's important is hitting Yukikaze on that frame in which your opponent can't move.

Makes sense since the Burst is a projectile, you'll need the Frame 1 Yukikaze for it to catch people. Yukikaze seems to have a faster activation in CP after catching a projectile so maybe it will catch Bursts with a "late" Yukikaze as well.

Posted

Weird, back when I played Jin I wondered about this; are bursts a projectile or does it just have projectile properties? If it's the latter, they shouldn't be able to move.

Posted

If they don't get caught by Yukikaze then it means that they're pure projectiles as opposed to a physical move with projectile properties.

Hype levels growing.

By the way, any reliable ways to crush trigger with Jin? The way it's executed sort of looks like the All Out Attack from Persona.

I see many people doing combo > 6D / 5D freeze > CT "reset" and it works some times. I don't really understand why the chances of it working with this setup would increase, but they seem to somehow do. :v:

Because it forces the opponent to quickly reacting to CT by barrier blocking as soon as they break out of the ice, especially with the 5D setup, since it has the shortest freeze time. Seen this setup countless times in the corner with 5D > CT.

Eventually people will just learn to hold Barrier while they're frozen by 5D/6D, the same way they (sometimes) do after being frozen in the air by j.D.

I'm going to go play Chrono Phantasma at Anime Expo early next month. I'll let you guys know how Jin feels! :v:

Super excited. I guess I gotta go review some videos hardcore before AX so I can figure out my combos. XD

I've watched a ton, but not in the past month or so. Without ever having practiced them, I might forget some thing here and there. XD

If time allows, can you try and see if corner 214D > 5C > 2C > 6C > DP C > 5B > 3C is universal thing? I want that thing to be my BnB so yeah :D

Posted

Can you also try something like this in the corner?

Some... good starter that's not 6C or a CH (like 5B > 5C ?) > 3C > Musou > (5B) > 5C > Sekka > (5B) > 5C > (2C) > [sj.2C > j.D] or simply sj.D > (iad j.2C > j.C) > 66 5B > (3C) > Sekka

And if it doesn't work, maybe you could try it off a crouching confirm into 6C > Musou > 5C instead of the 3C path.

The parentheses are obviously for possible alternatives since I don't know how exactly it might work, but I ultimately want to know if there are ways to go for good damage AND oki, which means no Hizansen path.

I know it's probably gonna be hard especially if there's no training mode there, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Be sure to report back on your findings, even if it's just how Jin feels! :eng101:
