IxisNaugus Posted January 25, 2013 Posted January 25, 2013 I feel the new midscreen oki and reset options that Ikutachi introduces are very welcome trade-offs for the mild loss of damage and other nerfs. It looks to me like Arc wanted to weaken her [over]powerful trap game in favor of more reliable confirms and sequences.

Nemesis Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) That Ikutachi combo was hype! whats our match up vs relius? Edited January 26, 2013 by Nemesis
bakahyl Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) That Ikutachi combo was hype! whats our match up vs relius? In extend or CP? Seeing that none of us have played CP, i don't think we can answer that for CP but for extend i think it's definitely in Mu's favor. Relius has problems getting in because of Mu's long reach normals. He has the most problem when trying to rush in from the air, as long as you don't IAD into him you will never lose air to air because how stupid her airthrows and j.c are against him. Just don't try to IAD rush him too predictably because of Ignis 4d (which has super armour even on block except relius gets hit), lanto and his 2c can catch you trying. Val Lanto, Lyra and Tus can easily be (super)jumped over and with the right spacing j.c can even beat them all 3 moves. While habaya is almost useless because of Ignis, but totsuka give Relius a really hard time and Ignis get's deactivated when relius get's hit. I usually use Totsuka far away and at a super jump height, so i won't get clipped by lanto or lyra. As for his led Ley (that spinning move with lot's of invincibility frames), just don't rush in too much with moves with long recovery. Fast moves like 2b and 2a are good for catching that , so when even those move whiff you can recover fast enough and throw him out of it. Also when ignis is not active, habaya and maybe habakiri (if you have a stein in his face) have more than enough active frames to CH him out of it. Plus relius has pretty bad neutral "a normals", so in almost every situation your 2a and 2b will win. edit: you are probably only in real trouble when you are cornered and when he has the momentum, because his pressure can easily bait every defensive option mu has , even baiting bursts with led ley and a random ignis attack. The damage of his corner combo's are only a tad lower than Mu's, you will get pretty much killed in 2 combo's in the corner. later edit: that 6b ikutachi combo with charged steins was awesome Edited January 26, 2013 by bakahyl
Tecta1Eastside Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) Its easy to get steins out in the stage in neutral. if you throw relius in the corner there isnt too much he can do but CA really. his dmg is also ignis meter dependent so he wont be able hit as hard as we do in ex. relius should spend alot of his ignis meter on trying to get in and making you block. he may keep you locked down for awhile but his overhead is really slow even for netplay. when you finally get placed in the corner his combos will only do 1-3k dmg on average no heat. our combos in the corner do at least 3k on average no heat and we will always have good oki since we dont need a ignis for oki. In neutral, i would not risk it because there is a good chance you will get hit or forced to block (if you jump cancel your steins) val lyra or lanto. Since it's plus on block, you are just giving him an opportunity to get in if you set steins on the ground. Plus you should not underestimate Relius' damage. While not as good as Mu's, it's still very high compared to the rest of the cast.

bakahyl Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 It depends on what he does also though, I only set steins at full screen. Midscreen or closer i dont hit the drive button at all. If you meant earlier by neutral on the ground, then you will give him a chance to get in because val lyra tracks your last position even at full screen and it's +33 on block. That's why i don't tend to set my steins on the ground against him.

You mean that spinning wheel move? i think the input is 214a maybe i dont know his inputs or the name of his moves sadly or do you mean 214b?
bakahyl Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 You mean that spinning wheel move? i think the input is 214a maybe i dont know his inputs sadly or do you mean 214b? Both the spinning wheel, 214a (Val lanto) and the one when ignis warps behind you trying to hit you with her pincers 214b (Val lyra) are plus on block. While Val lanto is not much of a threat when you are at full screen (unless Relius uses it twice in a row to cover more distance), val lyra always warps behind you and can get you if you are on the ground. The thing is, Relius has a hard time getting in. So recklessly setting steins will make it easier for him to get in.
Tecta1Eastside Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 (edited) yeah midscreen i dont hit the drive button on val lanto cuz i'll be forced into a blocking situation. Val lrya you can can just set steins in the air or 5d jump cancel since it only hits if you are on the ground. only bad thing is by that point relius can 4d or use 214a to hit you again or force you into block stun although by this point he's use alot of ignis meter just trying to get you. I know we can hit ignis out of some of her moves but i cant remember atm which ones are which though. Edited January 26, 2013 by Tecta1Eastside
TD Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 jumping avoids lanto and lyra nicely. fullscreen if relius uses lanto ever, 5c ignis right in the face. send that hoe back to the kitchen. the thing that makes relius's zoning avoidable is the recovery on ignis after a special attack, and his inability to do anything about it outside his 5b range. essentially, every attack ignis whiffs gives mu a decent amount of time to set up/do whatever which is -really- good for her design. because of this, ignis followups should never be a problem for mu because she can tap ignis or just move as the hunk of metal regains her sense of direction.
Nemesis Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 thanks for the match up exp guys -- its actually been quite frustrating -- mostly due to me IAD into relius' wife ...... like baka said i shouldnt be doing... ~_~

He plays different than frostbit3 bob and will do different things that will also help you be more experienced at the matchup. We only have 3 Relius players on xbl anyway so the more you fight all of tgem the better Edited January 26, 2013 by Tecta1Eastside
Nemesis Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 i very rarely see little subby but should the opportunity arise ill ask him for the relius match up who've we got? ... bob ... subby? and freezama? there are more I know it but their skill is less than my requirements i think
bakahyl Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 Unfortunately i don't get to fight that many relius players since i from Europe and the few ones that i fight who are decent , usually get annoyed fast by my keep away style with mostly setting steins in the air and j.c.
Ctrlaltwtf Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 I can Relius you into shape sometime, Nemesis. Little Subby always leaves immediately after winning. Even just one game.

Nemesis Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 I would appreciate that control (im tired of abbreviating it) -- im still working on my lambda hardcore too so im also good for those vs tager games - vs relius will be mu
Ctrlaltwtf Posted January 26, 2013 Posted January 26, 2013 The problem with Relius is that he doesn't have much of an "identity" to his playstyle right now. I hope they change this in CP but for now he just sort of feels like an odd mix of other characters, rather than a unique character unto himself.
C0R Posted January 27, 2013 Author Posted January 27, 2013 TIME FOR A DUNK COR POST!!!!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE SHOST SHOTS HOST SHOTS Don't worry won day you'll all do optimal cobos I sware. Ok bye .
