DonMungMung Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 so if aria=justice and valentine (copy dna)= clone aria (original dna) for me it's not logic valentine needed sin's dna. - is valentine a "incomplete" aria clone????' -aria =/= justice??????? I'm not completely sure, but maybe Valentine is a clone of Aria, not Justice. Yes, I'm aware that they're the same person, but if Aria became the gear Justice, maybe her DNA changed as well? On a sidenote, I thought Marina and Solaria were the same person :0
Blade Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 It's clearer to say that "Diva" = "Justice" as Justice's DNA was incorporated into Valentine's being...this doesn't mean that Valentine became "complete" so much though... And yes, I'm not quite clear on the whole Solaria/Marina thing either, yet... As Suzaku stated, Marina bore the sigil of Justice (I'm not sure the significance of that or if it was planted or what)...and Blackard Company held Solaria in a certain place (Raven told Sol not to go near her). Solaria's "song" even caused Sol's body to react (I recall seeing a pic or two of this). Eventually Sol finds Solaria and puts her in Ky and IPF's custody. As for how Solaria's related to Marina, I'm not sure. I'd have to look it over again. I'm fairly sure that Marina is human for the most part though.
Raging Tofu Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I agree, but more information needs to support the current info available, i.e. even little details like I-no's guitar being named "Marlene" shouldn't be missed. What about other little details like, King Ky's sword orginally saying LORD KY on it instead of AQUILA? Okay, not seriously for things like that BUT! I've misplaced it, but I was running a list of everything I found that Ishiwatari-san might have used as reference (just small things to back up why he did certain things) For example- Ky's sword has AQUILA in it's crossboard. Aquila is the name of a constellation in the northern hemisphere that's said to represent an eagle. An eagle and the constellation can be found in the emblem on his cape. Under the rules of heraldry, an eagle is associated with empires, persons of noble nature, strength, bravery and alertness or one who is high-spirited, ingenious, quick-witted and judicious. If the eagle is displayed (meaning wings open) then it represents protection as well. Even the colors have significance- blue is for truth and loyalty while the gold for generosity and elevation of the mind and the sub-ordinary (a red inescutcheon) means warrior or martyr; Military strength and magnanimity. yeah... I know random stuff. Just some references for things like that... may or may not be true, but it interesting.
DonMungMung Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 ......Oh man, I was WAY off in my understanding of the novel To Raging Tofu and Blade: Make lots and lots of FAQ babies. Please. Do it for the fans
Dizzy Kiske Posted October 2, 2008 Author Posted October 2, 2008 p-shaw! i really don't care what u none KyxDizzy fans say. Ky and Dizzy rule and the rest of u drool. if KnK is not Dizzy I'll kill her and pair up Ky and Dizzy in my fanfics. Kyrie = Nero's girlfriend in Devil May Cry 4
Zazz Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Kyrie = Nero's girlfriend in Devil May Cry 4 i remember her now. she was kinda useless.
Lou_Cypher Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 p-shaw! i really don't care what u none KyxDizzy fans say. Ky and Dizzy rule and the rest of u drool. if KnK is not Dizzy I'll kill her and pair up Ky and Dizzy in my fanfics. Kyrie = Nero's girlfriend in Devil May Cry 4 Pfft, you don't even have a backup plan if KnK isn't Dizzy? Tsk, tsk, Tzeentch wouldn't like that very much. I always have a backup plan for that. (Go me!) Now about Kyrie, she reminds me of encapsulated Dizzy in Accent Core plus with Crow acting as Sanctus...
Blade Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 As a personal rule, I try to keep non-GG characters out of GG-related stories (unless it can't be helped such as crossing over Giant Robo with anything to do with Slayer/Impact Albert).
Lou_Cypher Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Hmmm...how about a story that has Ky (Saber) and Archer vs. True Saber and Gilgamesh. or Sin (Lancer) and Sol (Berserker) vs. Caster and Assassin

STFU and get the fuck out of my fandom.

Kyrie = Nero's girlfriend in Devil May Cry 4 Whoa, wait a minute kid, aren't you like, 15 or somethin'? No need to get this angry 'bout so trivial. Ky's hot and all we want him to do is either stay a virgin forever or sleep with Sol, but there's a time when we gotta let Ishiwatari do what he wants, y'know? Besides, if it turns out that Ky x Dizzy isn't canon, there's nothing really stopping ya from writing, is there? On a complete side note, I really wanna try 'n animate one of the Drama CD tracks, particularly when Ky dies :D
Lou_Cypher Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 You know, me may as well talk about Guilty Gear shipping.... Dizzy Kiske's willing to "Die for the Ship" http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DieForOurShip I'm just here for the minionshipping with Ky and every other female character that moves...except for I-No and Baiken.

Blade Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 This is why I hate pairings of any kind. Even canonical pairings. They just give fans an excuse to puke their ideas onto other people whether they want to hear it or not. On a side note, I also hate pairing terminology, as Lou_Cypher presented. Too much made-up info for my brain to process.
Zazz Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 so blade, when's the next set of summaries from the drama cd? or those artbook stories?
Blade Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Okay, to clear things up on Marina and Solaria: --The two are "sisters" though how they are related is not entirely known. What is known is that the Blackard Company was in the process of trying to create their own "Command Type" Gears based on Justice (hence the Sigil found with Marina), as well as harvest gear cells and sell them as a form of medicine. --A lab member of the project escapes (though she does not survive the ordeal) with a young Marina and leaves the girl to a retired member of the Seikishidan's shop doorstep next to a church. He was the only one to suspect signs of Marina being a gear, but nothing happened. During a time he kept an eye on Marina as she grew up in the care of the church next to his shop. When the Blackard company began to distribute it's "medicine", it was suspicious enough for him to do some research and for Faust to check in on the matter. After a time, seemingly his wareabouts were unknown save to information he related to Ky Kiske before seeking out information on the "Hydra" project (not sure if this is related to Solaria only that it has to do with Blackard). It's assumed he is MIA after the Blackard incident. --At some point Solaria begins to "sing" during her development which triggers a manner of reactions in any and all Gear cells around her. Aside from killing anyone with minor doses of gear solution (nearly an entire village), this gives Sol a huge migrane but also triggers the reaction in Marina's legs, and ultimately awakens the Hydra. That Man wishes to record/replicate a sample of the song and use it for his own purposes, and so has Raven interfere with Faust and Sol's activities. --Faust is the first to suspect the bond between the sisters, but he is not clear on why this is. Ky checks in on Marina and the sudden deaths that occurred as a result of the song, to find her legs react to the sound. Though Ky manages to contain the situation, it is Faust who is the one who removes the "gear" drugs from Marina's system. --Sol manages to find Solaria at last and learns the truth and relates this information to Ky. Before he leaves (unbeknownst to anyone else), he entrusts his Gear Cell Suppressor Band (his Limiter) to Solaria (it's assumed when he left he built another one or had a spare). Meanwhile Ky decides to leave Solaria in the care of her "sister" Marina (though he says they are both under his and IPF's protection, the incident is not reported at lengthy detail). --To be specific, Marina is HUMAN and Solaria is a CONVERTED GEAR...yet they are both sisters. About HYDRA: --It is a MegaDeath class Gear that destroyed London during the early part of the Crusades. The Order could do nothing against it for a day and night before Kliff arrived. And HE fought it for seven days and nights to cut off 3 of its 5 heads and 4 of its sword limbs. The Order wrapped it in 13 chains, put huge boulders on the remaining heads, and left it sealed since they had other battles to fight. Though the area was declared no man's land people eventually drifted back in. Blackard, like many other companies and governments, want to create their own "Justice": a command-unit Gear to control the other Gears. They were using the Hydra as the target for the manipulations (using Solaria). Marina and her family live in a slum town built on top of the Hydra. In the end, the Hydra was awakened (though with Johnny's aid, they were able to evacuate all of the people) and by Ky's order, the Order initiated...Last Resort. The magical equivalent of a thermo-nuclear bomb emited from a geo-synchronous satellite, complete with a impenetrable seal to lock in the radiation that will take several centuries to dissipate. The Gear class MegaDeath can devastate a metropolis of 1,000,000 in an hour.
Suzaku Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Thanks, you got all of that information ordered and sorted very nicely. Regarding Solaria being a "converted Gear" and Marina being a human: While Gears can be created, the Blackard company was specifically using Justice as their model, and Justice was converted into a Gear from a human woman. The Priest speculated that they were raising Marina to become their Command-type Gear, so I imagine that Solaria is probably her younger sister, but, unlike Marina, was actually put through the Gear conversion process. With Marina having been "rescued" from that fate before being converted into a Gear, she's just a normal human. The reason her legs turn into tentacle things is purely because she took the medicine developed by the Blackard Company (Vitae, I believe), not because she had Gear Cells or anything like that. I can't remember if it was already mentioned in this thread, but the medicine cured people by spreading Gear Cells to their injuries/diseases/whatever, granting them the regenerative properties that Gears have. The sound of Solaria's singing caused the cells to go berserk, mutate, and kill the "patients", presumably a result of her being an experiment to create a Command-type Gear.
Silmerion Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 SnipDammit, I really want a translation of Lightning the Argent now.
Lou_Cypher Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 HYDRA sounds awesome. I would love to have seen the battle between it and Kliff...
Silmerion Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Okay, this has been nagging at me for some time. Dizzy is half-Gear. Sin is also half-Gear. From the traditional anime-half-breed-children archetype (i.e Dragon Ball Z), it would follow logically that Sin would be quarter-Gear, not half. This makes it extremely unlikely that Sin would be a half-Gear if his mother was Dizzy. Looking at this biologically, there is a one-in-four chance of Sin being a half-Gear, but this is only true if being a Gear is a genetic trait. The GG story suggests otherwise; Gears appear to be their own species. Looking at it like that, half-breeds (an easy example is mules) are universally sterile. This makes it 100% impossible that Sin is Dizzy's child. So why is everyone so convinced that Sin is Dizzy's kid?
Zazz Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 well, to sum it up, darago, i think Sin passes himself off as human rather well. he's got no wings or tails or even a creepy distorted voice, so maybe he is only a quarter. and he isn't wearing a limiter like sol (one could suggest that his eyepatch may be one, but since he's been wearing different ones all through his short life, i'd doubt that.) also MAGICAL SCIENCE
Wendy Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Dammit, I really want a translation of Lightning the Argent now. me too i only read a summary in spanish ;_;

My understanding was there was some kind of canonical crap behind it.
Zazz Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Oh, so everyone just kind of assumed he's half-Gear? My understanding was there was some kind of canonical crap behind it. well if diz is a half gear because that's what her GGX backstory tells us, but she's still a gear basically because diz's mom is a gear, she's a gear. and if sin's mom is a gear, he's a gear. i don't think fractions or percentages really account for MAGICAL SCIENCE
Lou_Cypher Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Just a thought but...I've never seen the word half-gear used to describe Sin in the translations. (Unless I'm missing something.) Closest thing I ever got was the "Child with the blood of the GEARS."
