RifleAvenger Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 oh yeah some guy on jbbs mentioned it air fireballs are back to reload status so you can do the shin akuma trick Oh Yeah. Here's hoping it stays.
HolyOrderChipp Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 So I heard something about an interview with Daisuke in which he said he wanted "everyone" in the game. But I couldn't find such an interview. Have there been any untranslated interviews that are known? (It was mentioned in passing in some SRK thread when the question of various people being in the game came up.) Basically, gotta have my Order-Sol. Oh, and is it known if Arcsys is going for more marketing presence in the US? I imagine the two trailers would attract the hell out of people. I know they're super effective on Guilty Gear fans but still, pretty much everyone I've shown them to has loved them. I would think they could really expand their fanbase over here, especially if people have been exposed to BlazBlue, or even other air-dashing games like MvC3. Really, the game looks amazing and people love flashy games. Could have some annoying things like a dub or whatever but I really do hope Arcsys tries hard to sell the game over here.
TheRealBobMan Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 Oh damn, so Pot's 2S doesn't vacuum? I can't believe Pot did 50% on Ky with just j.H > 2H > Heat > Extend. I'm going to have to write a song for you about how observant you guys are.

During TGS, he did say they were planning on adding every character. Whether this means the whole +R cast or just every pre-Slash character, though, we'll have to wait and see. It's known that they have a US branch now, but many have been disillusioned thanks to, erm, some antics on their Twitter feed. Though, it seems they still intend to work with other companies for their bigger releases, seeing as Aksys Games is still handling distribution for BBCP.
zdravkelja Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 oh yeah some guy on jbbs mentioned it air fireballs are back to reload status so you can do the shin akuma trick What trick? Oh damn, so Pot's 2S doesn't vacuum? I can't believe Pot did 50% on Ky with just j.H > 2H > Heat > Extend. I'm going to have to write a song for you about how observant you guys are. I think that's going to change, it looks like there isn't any proration or it's much weaker.
Luminos564 Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) Am I the only one that finds Potemkin's victory screen pose to be damn hilarious? It's like he just missed the cab back to the Zepp Mothership XD. Thanks Neithan. I think that's going to change, it looks like there isn't any proration or it's much weaker. Wasn't GG always about doing pretty big damage for relatively simple and short combos though? I don't remember much of AC but I do recall that certain characters could deal ~30%-45% damage fairly easily, if given the right stuff (like Zappa when he summons Raoh or A.B.A with Ultimate Double Edge). XXXDC Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 (edited) Hey guys. A friend went to the location test and made some videos. I didn't have much time to upload them until now, so here you go. The quality is very good. Woah, It's like... nothing ever connects, opponents can always tech and hitboxes are weird. Also, saw May connect S vertical dolphin (in another video) and get hit out of it, like old times :V Still have big hopes for the next loketest. Thanks Neithan. Edited November 7, 2013 by XXXDC
HolyOrderChipp Posted November 7, 2013 Posted November 7, 2013 During TGS, he did say they were planning on adding every character. Whether this means the whole +R cast or just every pre-Slash character, though, we'll have to wait and see. Interesting. The fact it's based off #R didn't give me that much faith, but surely Daisuke loves Order-Sol... I guess I can switch to Johnny or something. It's known that they have a US branch now, but many have been disillusioned thanks to, erm, some antics on their Twitter feed. Though, it seems they still intend to work with other companies for their bigger releases, seeing as Aksys Games is still handling distribution for BBCP. Oh, what drama was this? I missed it. Something about how the US doesn't have arcades or isn't a big market or whatever? It matters not; they're still better than Nintendo in my book in that regard. Waiting to this day for them to properly bring Custom Robo over here. (Okay that kinda went off the rails. Point is, people need to localize their games.)
youcanwonder Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Im surprised eddie hasnt made an appearance yet...esp since he was in the original trailer
Luminos564 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Im surprised eddie hasnt made an appearance yet...esp since he was in the original trailer Could be that he requires more work to be integrated into the new system and all that. Or maybe he's a bit of a bitch to animate. Could be either or both.
Notwhoyouthink Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 The forest, shin akuma, final showdown, clayton, shrug. There is a way to make ky do double fireball in air with proper timing. Ha yea I called it shin akuma when I found it back in the day. You do jump fireball, then jump right before you land and you can fireball again. With timing you can actually do jump hs fireball jump hs fireball to that sorta stuff. To bad they took it out cuz its fun. You can still do it in AC with teh big fireball in the air but its very unrealistic to set up since the height is to high.

Btw, you need to document your stories like ninja tribe! Classic!
Aristobule Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Hi Neithan nice to see a compatriot here, is Laurent is living in tokyo ?
Notwhoyouthink Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Yeah i remember those days getting lost in the forest. Btw, you need to document your stories like ninja tribe! Classic! ha yea well I did use to have that journal on xanga.. sadly xanga is dead now and alot of the old stuff is just gone.. guess I shoulda saved it better. Oh well... life I guess~
Kyosuke Kagami Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Im surprised eddie hasnt made an appearance yet...esp since he was in the original trailer meh, i bet zato sama's figure in that millia cutscene is just a hallucination made by her and the one who attacked her is a clone or something you know... like those ZT guys from the pachinko
LuciferD666 Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 (edited) meh, i bet zato sama's figure in that millia cutscene is just a hallucination made by her and the one who attacked her is a clone or something you know... like those ZT guys from the pachinko You know he could've been corrupted by (a) Valentine. That's a wild guess. But hey it's all by what we can see in the 1st trailer that he is back. I mean Millia didn't fling her hair for nothing. She seemed to already know they would meet again(under what circumstance we don't know). And I thought Zato wasn't conscious(at least primarily) within Eddie anymore(being a choice to commemorate Zato's deceased voice actor)? I thought it was Eddie we are talking about. If Zato died, well he died. But for all we don't know if/how Eddie somehow survived up to now. Hey guys. A friend went to the location test and made some videos. Btw anyone notice that Ky can get battle damaged(minimally) to the extent of his ponytail being apprehended/cut loose? Transiting him with longer hair. Edited November 8, 2013 by LuciferD666

If Zato died, well he died. But for all we don't know if/how Eddie somehow survived up to now. Zato-1 is canonically dead, that much we know for sure. Last we saw of Eddie, he was gradually dying due to the inability to feed off of a live host—as I recall, several endings in AC+ had him biting the dust. However, I think another one of his endings had him discovering it was possible for him to continue living without a host, effectively making him immortal. Of course, whether or not any of those endings were canon is a moot point in the end, since the writers can pull whatever excuse they want to bring him back. Fighting games are notorious for reviving dead characters for the most absurd reasons imaginable (take Vice and Mature in KOF13). GG has never been the kind of game that prioritizes the story over the characters and gameplay, anyway. If they think Eddie's inclusion would benefit the game, then they'll find a way to put him in there, Zato corpse and all, plotholes be damned.

I can see characters not making the cut for specific reasons(no matter how much I think the story or previous titles support them being in). At the end of the day. The producers are supposed to deliver a good, stable, and enjoyable game to thrive off of.So I would think like you that the benefits of this game matter over even popularity, and what we "think" should, shouldn't be in. And yes: I believe in the canon that Zato-1 is dead(which is why I am confused with so much use of Zato's name as if he didn't die). Just being open with that fact you brought up as well. They could easily twist the writing to the benefit of the product. Edited November 8, 2013 by LuciferD666
SoWL Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Oh, so it's written "Wandering Doctor Faust" on Faust's paper bag. That's... kinda bland, but also means that his bag is custom-made. That's some dedication to hiding your identity, alright. And his door teleport leads to America?
Rhannmah Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 GG has never been the kind of game that prioritizes the story over the characters and gameplay, anyway Oh? Is that why Kliff and Justice haven't officially been in the game between GGone and +R, almost 15 years?

White Man Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Oh? Is that why Kliff and Justice haven't officially been in the game between GGone and +R, almost 15 years? Can't tell if sarcasm...? Kliff and Justice have been in more games (main installments at least) between GG1 and +R than not. They usually aren't balanced for tournament play, granted, but for them to even show up that much despite being officially dead as doornails kind of proves my point, I think.

I think that's going to change, it looks like there isn't any proration or it's much weaker. The damage is higher than any other GG in general, I'm pretty sure it's just tuned up for the loketest.
Agni Posted November 8, 2013 Posted November 8, 2013 Bumping up the damage just for the loketest doesn't seem like a good idea to me, it could lead to a lack of data on how much damage characters can actually do. I mean, it could be possible for a character to end being up too powerful at the normal values, because their high damage output got lost in the noise of EVERYONE having high damage output.

Generally it's the job of the internal playtesters and designers to figure out appropriate damage. ArcSys needs to get general "feel" feedback from a loketest, or potential speculation (____ move seems too powerful), which can allow stuff that was missed to be looked at. The high level, nuanced tuning can't really be figured out in a few hours. "is this fun on a basic level" can be. Upped damage can, in essence, make the pace of the game feel like what it should be when the game is actually released, and get more people into rotation. Then again, ArcSys just released Kokonoe...
