P4UUSH is receiving Femtag and Masao (complete with Mark reskin for the US release. PAL will instead receive an update that bricks their PS3s). Can someone please smack iantothemax around the head a few times for writing that misleading SRK article? The TGS trailer showed a character in Story Mode a couple of times. You know what else they showed? Dr. Paradigm, Sol in his GG2 outfit and Ramlethal in an outfit that has more clothes than just a Venus flytrap cloak thing. You know what they said about any of this? Nothing. There was no announcement of a new playable character. No suggestions of what their plans are after Console Xrd launches. Just glimpses of conversation in Story Mode that vaguely suggest what the plot is going to be about. Guilty Gear has had characters that only appear in Story Mode before. So has Blazblue. So has UNIB. The art team have gone into detail about how much effort goes into adjusting not just the lighting, particles and clothing adjustments for every frame of a playable character's animations, but that they have to construct altered (oftentimes heavily altered) models in order to get the right effect at all times. Clearly the Story Mode is taking more effort than the "draw 8 variants of base character art and hire an actor to voice the script" model of games past, but just because you see someone in Story Mode doesn't immediately mean they're set in stone as the next playable character. After all, we've had a complete model and voice for Generic Ky Soldiers since February and I haven't seen a single post on this site asking when he will be playable. Please link to this or just copypaste it every time someone asks when we're getting the purchase info for Leo or what have you.
the_d3v Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 The speculation comes from the fact that A) he has a fleshed out model (not something cheap to make) and B) in the TGS trailer, his portrait was given the same treatment as that of the playable characters. That, and there's the fact that Arc hasn't really shied away from DLC characters.
Henaki Posted September 27, 2014 Posted September 27, 2014 every named character with a full model we've seen has been playable. whats good about the new thing is basically any character they rig for story purposes just needs animation work (which is stll a good chunk left) but they can throw money at the story mode that will turn into a character later on down the road, and this would be the absolutely best way to squeeze a buck out of the game: if its a rigged dude with a voice actor and a full model, you've paid for 1/4th of the development costs of a character down the road, so any new characters in gameplay would be cheaper to arcsys if we've seen them. so if you see a character animate in a cutscene: congrats, its in arcsys monetary interest to make that dude a character over like, zappa or whatever. whoops.

You joke, but I still think Raoh in the xrd engine would be by far the most rad visual in a fighting game ever.

Leo subject..i seen him in the vids..but never seen a ingame model for him. Still thinkin he will be a playable char at somepoint after release tho

Its kinda crazy when I watch them tbh how bad it looks.

It doesn't matter who you play because everyone who plays GG should bear witness to the deity-level skill exhibited by Ogawa, and lucky for you Goldenrody just uploaded like 4 videos of just that. The only thing more God-affirming than Ogawa Zato is FAB working miracles with XRD Chumpkin, who, despite repeated and supported conclusions that correctly deny his outright shittiness, is still the worst character by far in a game that features the likes of Chipp "FIND MEH" Zanuff, Sol "Totally Fafnired" Badguy, and Ramlethal "Damage for days" Valentine. What's more, FAB was the only one able to beat Ogawa in those aforementioned videos. Admittedly, I shed a tear, for I had never before seen such an awesome display of such unbridled Zeppian Patriotism in the face of such overwhelming odds. Oh yeah, and Samitto's Chipp is great for long elevator rides if you've got a internet capable mobile device, because one way or another, the match is over in around a minute or so.
