While I'm not not sure sure if they were directly aimed at BB fans, they have a very look pretty fan service-y. That being said, I never liked Bridget or I-no either. I thought we were just expressing opinions on character design, which actually I'm not sure if that's off topic, like if the aesthetics of the game are included in the subject of gameplay. Personally I just don't dig waifu characters, I'm not that kind of person.
DaiAndOh Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 So I recently ended up browsing through some youtube comments (always a bad idea) and now I'm the one feeling super butthurt, because there are tons of BB fans who are talking about El and Ram in terms of waifus (non-ironically) and all that cringe-inducing crap, and it just makes me feel more that El and Ram were designed for the primary reason of drawing some of the BB fans to buy GG. Because if not, damn are they well recieved by that demographic and that's pretty much all they talk about in reference to BB (there was some stuff about Noel and jD upskirts that I did not care to understand). People do/did this with other GG characters. And characters in every other medium. Elphelt and Ramlethal are new characters so people are going to talk about them more. You also see it more because of youtube's prominence now. You think that's bad? I wasn't one at the time, but try playing Arcana Heart when that dropped. Oh wait, really good fighting game players that couldn't care less did regardless of how that game is aesthetically/fanbase/etc.  Trust me, what random people say on the internet is the thing I'm least concerned with about with Ramlethal :v

I mean, I'm not one to claim superiority or say what people are doing is wrong, well I'm mean unless they're like murdering children or something. But honestly, yes, I won't touch certain characters or games just due to the design of the female, or even male sometimes, characters being designed in a certain way. I did try Arcana Heart though, it was kinda fun, but I never stuck with. I don't recall the characters being over sexualized though.

Yes, but I've never seen Sin or Bedman talked about in direct reference to BB yet (or what sort of husbandos/paramours/etc they are - though yes the vocal oglers are predominantly male). And reading YT comments on any topic will almost assuredly make me sad of course. Just so happens that I ended up reading some from GG videos and got rather bummed.  And hey, I played Skullgirls for a while because I liked the mechanics a lot at the time (can't play it anymore though). I understand playing the game for the gameplay's sake. The feeling of bummness still exists here and there though. (And sure as fuck provided more cognitive dissonance than I could ever want with Skullgirls.)    (But I actually really really like GG's visuals and style on top of the gameplay though to begin with.)

In other discussion: While I don't doubt King of Heart's statement about Stun Edge YRC one bit, him playing the game in Japan and all...I actually did get mindfucked when I tried Sol in the demo on how easy YRC Gunflame is. The only YRC trick so far that seems nearly as difficult to a FRC based on what I've seen is YRCing Venom's QV so you get the YRC but still get the ball to appear. (too early and the ball won't get summoned, too late and you get red for their blockstun). Early on in training mode videos it seemed difficult, and it's not used in matches featuring strong players...hmmm.

That could not the worst but the most less appealing cover in the Guilty Gear franchise. Not a deal breaker or anything. Just wished for the Arcade art or that FDX poster art.

Even then, I don't out right hate them, I just choose not to play as them or just well....don't like them. Hell, I mean a lot of them atleast have interesting stories and personalities. Personally my main problem with a lot of fighting games is the over sexualization of female characters and the lack of well....normal women...to balance it out. I get that fan service has it's place, but I believe moderation is key. Speaking of moderation, I believe this is derailing.

So yes, Ram and El were designed specifically to draw the modern Anime fans in, who need their cookie-cutter female characters. Still, I find Elphelt's design very interesting in the sense that it plays the trope completely over on its head and is very tongue-in-cheek.

Â the modern Anime fans Female characters are older than you might think, just because most anime that reached the West first wasn't fanservice-heavy doesn't mean there was none of it in the industry.
