Calamitus Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Finished story mode. Notes for myself: - Obviously, story mode is too short - Design of Justice is horrible. Also, her size does not make sense now (or before). And no personality, just a giant mech. - Scene where Axus "kills" Ky is my favourite. Dramatic even if you know that Ky will use shonen powers after that. Ironic, that Apostle uses a revolver. - "Sol is too strong for Ky, we need to give him something to make their rivalry visible - shonen Gears power!" - Library mentions characters like Leopaldon, Crow or even Fanny but completely disregards Judgment and manga characters. They dont deserve even gaiden status. - Library mentions P.W.A.B's character who can beat Millia with one blow. - Library mentions 5 Apostles while we know only 4 - There is only one "complete" Robo-Ky - Leopaldon is weak to That Man. Strange fact to put for a character which will never return. - Potemkin is less important than Taokaka. - Who needs those assassins, Axl or I-no when you have Elphelt. - English localization (i want translation instead) "rocks" as usual. Also, why its Baldias instead of Bardius? - Gabriel looks like "Anime Heidern" to me - Agni X = Instant Kill? - Johnny sounds too rough or drunk, conflicts with his in-game description. - It seems next GG will focus on That Man
Zazz Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Finished story mode. Notes for myself: Interesting stuff about the Library. I heard a bunch of things that are only suggested in the story mode are outright confirmed in there.
The Badgerine Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 The Library Mode also brings up a few new things about characters that I haven't heard before. Aside from minor details like Bridget's original family apparently being super rich, the Library Mode mentions something about Baiken having some sort of awful contraption stuck to where her right arm used to be? Is that how she can carry so many hidden weapons at once?

Zazz Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I saw some stream footage of someone quickly scrolling around the library and here's what I remember (I wish I took screen shots now that I think about it) These may be somewhat wrong as I'm going by only my memory here so if I'm wrong correct me. - Vernon is actually the VP of Erica (from Chipp's novel) and that she had to leave office due to an illness. - The Valentines' Mother is confirmed to be the same entity known as The Universal Will - Both Zato AND Eddie were dead after the events of XX/AC and the Conclave was responsible for resurrecting them both - The basis of resurrection and ultimate plan of Conclave is using a magical term called "Magical Foci" and the process of binding a soul to an inanimate object. The entry on this specifically mentions Paracelsus/Flament Nagel. It also mentions Japanese Yokai as an example of this. (Maybe Izuna is coming back?) - Crow is still working on his crazy Justice cloning project
SoWL Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 Izuna is not a Focus, he's a being born in the Backyard. The Yokai that are compared to the Foci are most probably those that take the shape of common items, like umbrellas or sickles, which are but a fraction of all the Yokai.
The Badgerine Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 What did it mean by "original" family? Like he and Eddie were adopted? Whoops, that's just mis-wording on my part. Sorry. I meant to say just "his family".
SoWL Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Just throwing this out here: there were rumors that Faust is Chinese, but it seems that the text on his clipboard is in German. Which means that he's either German, himself, or he once worked in a German clinic. Which makes all sorts of sense when you take his name into account.

Maybe I'm remembering this wrong, but didn't Dr. Baldhead's profile outright state that he was Chinese in GG1? Faust's a genius and he's dedicated his life to traveling around the world so I wouldn't be surprised if he picked up another language or two at some point.
Tsuki Garyuu Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Whoops, that's just mis-wording on my part. Sorry. I meant to say just "his family". Dunno about you, but I thought that detail was already known on several biographies of Bridget, that he has is born of a wealthy family.
The Badgerine Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 Dunno about you, but I thought that detail was already known on several biographies of Bridget, that he has is born of a wealthy family. Ah. Guess I just never heard it somehow.

Also, there's actually quite a few Chinese people living in Germany, so there's that.
Narroo Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Just finished storymode; here are a few thoughts! It felt like that the story was structured as a sequel to "Overture." Towards the end I couldn't help thinking how this could have been adapted very easily into Overture battles. When did Justice get so large? Is Justice still alive? I know Justice should be dead, given what Sol did to her, but Elphelt said Justice had been awakened and "Mother" seemed to be rather pleased.
Narroo Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Also, anyone know what's up with Bedmon, his sister, and the dog? When Ram asks Bedmon to kill the dog, he freaks out and calls it a little girl. Bedmon's stage, his "nightmare theather," shows a little girl getting killed by an enchanted dog toy. His talks with "Mother" (who apparently is also the Imperator Sorcery Pope), reveal that is motivation in life has something to do with his little sister, and it may be tragic. I wonder.
Zysets Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 The Library Mode mentions something about Baiken having some sort of awful contraption stuck to where her right arm used to be? Is that how she can carry so many hidden weapons at once? Baiken has some weird chain and claw thing where her arm used to be. It's in her Accent Core artwork, as well as a few of her sprites.
Daemose Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Two questions 1. I missed Bridget, where is he? 2. When is big blast sonic featured in the game?
Tsuki Garyuu Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Two questions 1. I missed Bridget, where is he? 2. When is big blast sonic featured in the game? 1. Nowhere 2. Unless it was used much earlier in the story mode, since I came in more than halfway in, then nowhere.
The Badgerine Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Baiken has some weird chain and claw thing where her arm used to be. It's in her Accent Core artwork, as well as a few of her sprites. I thought that was just one of her hidden weapons. The Library mode specifically states a "mechanical abomination" of some kind, which is a weird term to use for her hidden weapons, and gave me the impression that people were experimenting on her or something.
SolxBaiken Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 Her weapons are collective known as Demon Hunting Tools, and it is likely one device producing multiple items (claw, anchor, bladed pinweel, spiked club, feudal cannon, steel fan, and likely more) using, for a lack of better term, "hammerspace". Calling it a "mechanical abomination" is just adding some dramatic flair, as she did go through great lengths to acquire it for her revenge.
Daemose Posted December 12, 2014 Posted December 12, 2014 1. Nowhere 2. Unless it was used much earlier in the story mode, since I came in more than halfway in, then nowhere. Someone said he was in there for like 10 seconds. And I didn't hear it at all in story mode.

Roight, thanks for clearing up.
GoldTruth Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 So I am going to put everything I think and feel about the story into this post. Let me know what you guys think.I like Elphelt, I hope it doesnt take the entire sequel to rescue her. Whats going on with Sanctus Populi leader? She is the Universal Will and "Mother" behind the valentines? That doesnt really add up, since in the story mode they also try to link the Dawn of Revival to the Universal Will, saying it was an early manifestation of that. What exactly does the Universal Will want? What about "Mother"? Are they truly one in the same? If not, what is the connection? That Man seems pretty chill too. He would fit right in a world like Evangelion. He seems like he was trying to save people by sacrificing Japan. But what was it exactly? What is the Variable X that multiplied? It couldnt have been Justice, because they took direct control of Justice to stop it. And Justice was Aria? But how, the timeline doesnt match up- Aria should have been long dead by her disease- how did she live long enough to become Justice 40+ years later? What was the conclaves goal? To build a world without free will? Is that Mother's Goal as well? What about the Universal Will? What was Justice's original goal and why? Anyway, one thing I did like was character development and theming. I liked how they had the general theme that changing into something/someone else fundamentally changes who you actually are- kills off the old you and makes you someone different. Changing is essentially not being you. The discussion early on about whether or Frederick would want to be a bird is relevant through several conversations in the game, all the way up to the ending with Elphelt changing. Sol developed throughout the story mode as well, his perceptions and aloof behavior were challenged until by the end he opened up to the idea of not losing anyone else by protecting them and getting them back- as opposed to before, he had the belief that he shouldnt get close to anyone in the first place. Expect him to realize the power of friendship in his own way in future intallments. Over all, best story in a fighting game period so far, although I have some general complaints that I hope are improved in the future. It would be nice if I could disable text boxes during dialogue or action scenes. I would like it if the action scenes were better animated and lasted a bit longer. Certain scenes seemed to cut off early or lacked real resolution and then were never mentioned again which led to the story having a weird disjointed feel when it shouldnt have. The biggest example of this is when bedman kills the puppy and the ensuing scene. It was a powerful scene, and it ends with a standoff with Sin, Ram, and Bedman, and bedman is about to kill Ram, and Ram is submitting to let bedman do it. But then the scene cuts off, we never get a resolution to it, and its never mentioned or brought up again. I guess bedman just decided to leave? Either way, I really liked the story. Most disapointing thing was that Big Blast Sonic never played not even a single time. Hopefully they improve the story mode and make it even better next time instead of making some of the same mistakes.
