There's a new PSC coming up on the 30th too, maybe we'll get some info then?

Don't count on it. They would have mentioned P4AU if that was the case.

Suppose it was small enough to go unnoticed, but version 1.11 is out in arcades. Fixed a problem with Golden Arena Mode.

Hold on. I don't think any of the dates on the websites where P4AU preorders are available are quite accurate. The dates shown on the sites could just be arbitrary cutoff dates put in because there's nothing else available.

So, this is releasing for $60? Really? I mean, i'm still going to get it, but, fighters just aren't launching at full $60 prices anymore.

I guess. Wasn't BBCP also $60 though?

Yep. Though I must note that most fighters that are coming out these days are either indie fighters that can make a profit at sub-$60 prices, attempts at free-to-play which inevitably go horribly wrong, or Street Fighter updates that want to hook in new players, but will sell like hotcakes even if they're priced at $200.

Has there been any infos yet on a japanese psn version? I guess it will be available there just as bbcp was?

Hopefully this means no region lock. Think of our EU brethren!

I couldn't agree more... Arc System please, don't region lock this game.

Just for the unawares, it was ATLUS' decision to region-lock the first game. And this was their home office in Japan, not ATLUS USA or ASW. Considering this time we will likely not be getting a near systematic release date for the 2 versions, I doubt we will be getting region locks.

BBCP is $50.

Not here in Canada. Game was $64.99 or $85.99 for the LE.

Haha. That wasn't really what I was talking about. Games get really expensive down here in Australia too, in fact even more so than that.

Well yeah, AUS has a nasty history of increased prices for games. I only mentioned my side since the guy that sold me copy justified the price as "CDN dollar is too weak in comparison to the US dollar bro" when I know for a fact that the next nearby Future Shop or the like sold the game for $59.99.

Truth be told, I thought the game would cost 39.99 USD since the game doesn't seem as drastic as a design change as BBEX to BBCP.

I'm sorry, please elaborate.

Well, I think the game is more like BBCS2 to BBEX. In BBCP they changed a lot of system mechanics, art style, that sort of thing. P4U to P4U2 isn't that drastic of a change. The art is more or less the same along with the visuals. I don't even think BBCS was 59.99 USD when it released. So, I honestly don't think the 59.99 price for P4U2 is worth it considering it is a balance patch of sorts with a few more characters.

I would be all for it if they changed things along the lines of BBCP with new art and visuals, mechanics, story, modes, etc etc. But yeah, it's not along those lines. I'll probably still end up getting P4U2, but those aspects will just nag at the back of my mind.

Most of the stuff you're talking about has actually occurred during the transition from P4A to P4U2. New art? The HUD got redesigned, everyone has at least one new move with unique sprites, almost every stage from P4A has been heavily altered (in addition to 5 new stages), 4+ completely new characters, Persona summoning effects have probably been improved... New mechanics? S-Hold, Fatal Recovery, Guard Cancel Rolls, hops becoming useful, SB supers, differences in amount of Persona cards, Shadow type... New modes? P-GP mode, revamped Score Attack, Golden Arena... New story? Don't even start me on that.

And remember, we've still got an entire season (and most of another) before release date hits. Atlus isn't even close to done announcing stuff for Ultimax yet.

Every character got a least 2 new normals in addition to the specials (Yosuke got like 5).

I didn't count those because they mostly reused art assets from moves in the previous game.

I'd like to add: It seems every stage that was "altered" still has it's old version. For example, this is Junpei's and Mitsuru's stage:

It has a "dark hour" kind of vibe, different from the original. You can still play in the old version though.

I think that's pretty nice.

Anyway, I agree with shoryusatsu and psy-chan, the game changed enough to be called a completely "new" game.

I like the series so I won't mind paying full price for it, but that's just me.

Yeah, that's just the basic stuff like how they added a few things from BBCS2 to BBEX. They changed the HUD, some art here and there, but not enough to make them want to release the game at 59.99 USD. I feel its the same for P4U2. It's not really enough to justify the 59.99 USD tag. For instance, from BBCT to BBCS they added new moves, new HUD, changed the blocking mechanic, and even added some art and story and a few characters, but the price was 39.99 USD. Perhaps that's my misconception as to why I think the price for P4U2 should be 39.99. To me, I just think of this game as a transition from BBCT to BBCS (also, BBCS did all those things you mention that P4U2 is doing).

Continuum Shift came out one year after Calamity Trigger.
