Blade Posted July 29, 2014 Posted July 29, 2014 Here's a pet peeve of mine: Players who refuse to pick any other character except their main. 1. This only works if you play your main offline and are actually GOOD with them. 2. If you do the same lame combos over and over and STILL lose with them.... huh? What? 3. Using the same strategy over and over online... because that REALLY WORKS. As Venom would say "Kimi wa taikutsu da." (You're boring me.)

Speakeasy Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I know I was complaining a few pages ago about bad bursts, but now I'm going to complain about good bursts. Why do people only burst my gravity combos? I could never, ever touch my D button once, but the moment I do a gravity hitconfirm, everyone lays on burst like there's no tomorrow. I'm sure I could go ham, egg, and cheese on every other combo and rack up the damage while being as easy to burst as possible and people will lose for the chance to burst the moment I use gravity. I had a match today where I used burst-safe combos because I wanted nothing more than to get that burst from someone so Icould use gravity, then just gave up and went for gravity and they immediately bursted. Man... that's just not right.
Blade Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I see you're a fan of Tager I pick Tager when I'm not familiar with other character's combos/mixups (so I can block em and learn em). Doesn't mean I don't pick other characters. Some people, I dunno... they keep trying and failing or something, even if it's their main. I wouldn't mind a counter-pick if it meant I got some variety.

I said that because your description sounded like a lot of Tager players (single combo knowledge, lag tactics, etc)

Man... that's just not right. Well, they know you're going for high damage because you're expending your resources that way. You can't blame them, but a gravity seed for a burst isn't too bad. This happens to me a lot, but sometimes they do get too anxious with it and burst before the gravity seed completes and you keep your meter...in which case you're back in neutral.

Man... that's just not right. Well, gravity well is one of the few moves in a Nu combo that they can definitely burst without getting baited (unless you RC). It sounds like your opponent knew how to properly burst against Nu.
mAc Chaos Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Really? I remember one Nu saying everyone bursts in gravity well and then baiting it easily when I did it. Who was it...
toanenadiz Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Really? I remember one Nu saying everyone bursts in gravity well and then baiting it easily when I did it. Who was it... Bursts got faster so we can no longer easily bait it.

So... someone should stop trying to get experience on their main so they can "counter pick" you with a character they barely know how to use? Hello, some people don't have time to try to learn the entire cast; If they're losing with their main, they'd REALLY LOSE if they picked someone else. We're sorry you're bored and feeling unchallenged, maybe you should go hang out with your pink square friends or something. :P
Kriegdrache Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Now I know never to pick Hakumen ever again, I had no idea my main was the character I wasn't allowed to play, my bad Blade.

We're sorry you're bored and feeling unchallenged, maybe you should go hang out with your pink square friends or something. :P Wow Sodium depository indeed. You aren't guaranteed to "REALLY LOSE" if you pick someone else. I'm not THAT good a player, besides (and I don't spend more time than anyone else would to learn the whole cast... that just is part of my interests in my SPARE time just like anyone else). I don't mean it in the sense that people should stop trying to get experience with a character they choose to learn. I mean if you aren't making headway maybe you should try someone else for a bit and loosen up/relax. I switch characters up if something isn't working until I figure out how to deal with a certain situation. I just get tired of fighting the same character who makes the same mistakes over and over without learning anything/trying new tricks. Some people auto-pilot their mains and get walloped because they don't "think" while they fight. That's the main problem, either think while you fight, or pick someone else for variety. Alternately, if you keep having the same problems with your main, sometimes you have to consult people outside of matches before you figure out what to do, at which point you have to discuss the problem. Some people don't even bother to ask the question "What am I doing wrong?" They just keep losing and are fine with that... Try not to be so sensitive about your mains, guys... I'm not trying to insult your egos here. Yet another pet peeve of mine: Fighting Gamers who don't know how to RELAX.
D.R.F. Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I just play a character untill I feel I mastered them, usually why I dont have strong subs (other than anji, and even then im outta practice)
Soviet Bear Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 BlazBlue is one of the rare games where I can't really accomplish anything with non-main characters. Unlike GG, or most other fighters I've played, picking up a new char in BB is in most cases relearning the entire game again. Funnily, I picked Kagura tonight by accident when playing online and despite me playing BB for a while and understanding fundamentals and inputs, I literally couldn't do anything with the character. The only characters I've had this happen with in GG have been Order Sol and ABA, while in most other games, I at least manage to put up a fight with a different character, even if I've never touched them before. So, I kinda gave up and decided to go with the approach of "If I can't win with Hakumen, I'll just try and learn how to win". If I bore someone because of it, they can just not play me. I personally don't like walking away from either matches I'm only losing or only winning, but that's just my own fighting game etiquette.
StylisH Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Funny, because usually I get complaints about not using my main and having half a dozen subs. Maybe if people stop avoiding me I'd use him.
Soviet Bear Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 It really goes both ways, from what I've seen. If you don't pick your main and the other person is beating your sub easily, on one hand, you're not giving them a chance to improve their match-up VS a high-level character. On the other hand, they're not giving you the same chance for your sub. It's why I go with "pick what you pick", because I don't think it's fair to expect better players to help me if I don't help "worse" players in turn. I'll groan when I see a mirror or a Tager or bloody Terumi, but I'm sure I've made a bunch of people groan myself.
StylisH Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 My take: I play who I want at the time. I'm not playing to satisfy anyone but me. If I use someone you want to go against, just ask. Don't get pissy because I'm not psychic. I get enough of that from my girl.

And no, believe me: Most people can barely do A>B>C(>D)>Special with most of the cast. Not everyone HAS subs. So all your complaint comes down to is 'I wish my opponents would get better faster'. I'm sure people have only been holding back on getting better to annoy you.
Blade Posted July 31, 2014 Posted July 31, 2014 In my case, I can't really say I have a "main" because I'm not confident with any one character as my go-to character. That goes for GG and BB. BB even more so because of its diversity. I haven't found a character in BB I'm especially confident in choosing. So I am always uneasy (that's the downside of knowing multiple characters I suppose, but at the same time you learn a lot when you play them so you understand them more when fighting them, not just using them). If this were Soul Calibur I'd pick Edge Master or Elysium EASILY as my main... If this were Tekken, Mokujin lol... (Yes, I get that "communication problem" thing all the time... urgh.) Holding back on me to get better lol... I'm not that evil. I'm not like Azrael, hahaha... In some cases I've picked a character matchup in my opponent's favor... he'd get salty if he lost but... but I pick who I pick when the mood strikes me.
