Sneakman Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 That's what my friends say when we play smash and I accidentally Sonic spin dash off stage. Back on topic: When people beat me with a character and then switch to someone else when I want to learn the match up. I have a extremely bad habit of doing this, I like playing so many characters, I rarely think to consider if my opponent wants match-up experience.
LaowPing Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 To play devil's advocate, some players want to learn other characters, or they simply have a lot of subs (like me) and they can't sit still on any character that isn't their main. It does happen. Same with me. I have multiple characters, but you gotta get your sat match in every now and then. Speaking of which, when you've been beating someone constantly and they finally beat you once, then leave. Thought tbh I do that too.
Airk Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 Speaking of which, when you've been beating someone constantly and they finally beat you once, then leave. Thought tbh I do that too.I always try to play one more match after the one I win so it doesn't seem like a "Nyah! Finally beat you, now I quit!"
mAc Chaos Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 I can't leave on a single win. I have to prove I can beat them overall or it feels like conceding that I know they'll win if I stay.
Dawn of Musou Posted March 24, 2015 Posted March 24, 2015 If it's someone who's better than me and I get a win on them, why would I leave? I want to know why I won, I want to know if I can do it again, I want to know if this means I improved or if the opponent simply made a mistake. I want to learn from the win and the many losses that came with it so next time, I get more wins. I don't get people lol.

Because usually you've been playing for like an hour, you're kinda emotionally done, and you're pretty sure the one win was a fluke?
LaowPing Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 If I get a win it's usually because I've improved. I adjusted and fixed all the mistakes my opponent punished me for. Also, as Airk said, after a long series of battle, you're tired. You wanna lay back and reflect and you're improvements.
mAc Chaos Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Nah, getting just one win doesn't mean you necessarily improved. A lot can happen in the match and a better player can lose to a worse one just because they happened to guess wrong that one time. It's only if you show a consistent improvement that you improved. Anyone will lose one match eventually. You should look at your performance in terms of ratios and trends.

After a match, I think about what went wrong. Hell, after I get punished I make a note about what went wrong. And I only leave after I'm burned out. High level play is stressful.
Ventus Tatshima Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Whenever i don't trust my gut when it comes to baiting or trying not to use the wrong normal to space someone. Shit's annoying
Monarch Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 When I halfway bait the burst, stop barriering and think "okay, they won't burst" and then they burst.
mAc Chaos Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 I get mad at myself in those situations for not having the confidence to commit to the bait.
LaowPing Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 A good burst bait feels so good. Even if you spend all your meter or drop the follow up you at least get the pressure back in return. Sent from my ZTE-X500 using Tapatalk 2
StylisH Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 When I halfway bait the burst, stop barriering and think "okay, they won't burst" and then they burst. As long as that icon is lit up, I'm baiting. People burst at the most random times. I just shake my head when I get bursted out of a 2A confirm at the beginning of the round. Then again, it's usually to stop a 6 stock combo, but hey, details....
Henjin Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 General: when you're Good at spamming and mashing/ not good, but lag for some reason got your back. Blazblue: grabbing mid combo out of desperation( a little is forgiven if they stop there). Mashing 5/2a... I mean jeez, one confirm is all you need. Kunes curse mash, his sky bugs, his cowering playstyel. Persona: same with blaze, mashing 5a for auto combo in fact, that is the only reason why I hate playing this game. Xrd: grabs cannot be teched, and they act as Dp

What happens when you bait a burst and they don't burst? Sadness. One should be evaluating player habits, character aggressiveness and the need to burst first. because burst has many situations of which to be used that doesn't involve getting hit. Figuring out when someone will burst/OD is some of the most advanced stuff in this game, and consistent prevention of opposition using burst correctly is bound to make a player formidable. And don't sleep on bursting immediately. Getting it back via a timer helps this style of bursting. Back when bursts were 2 stocks max this was a horrid idea, but in cp, it's the exact opposite depending on the character and player.
susano Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Getting completely destroyed because I did some really stupid, questionable things, combined with a terrible ds3 pad. Nothing makes me more sad and frustrated with myself than losses that were beyond embarrassing to the point I don't want to play anymore.

Nothing makes me more sad and frustrated myself than losses that were beyond embarrassing to the point I don't want to play anymore. We all have bad days. The important thing is to not let them get you down. It's good that you're aware of your mistakes; that's the first step to fixing them, and most people aren't even at that stage.
Hollysmoke Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Yea, tonight was pretty crappy.yeah. It sucks but it happens. Sometimes you gotta take a break or call it a day, otherwise you'll go full tilt and just lose even more. Asking a friend to goof off casually and play something silly like Random Button only or MOM helps alleviate that frustration, I find.
Airk Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Yeah. the hardest thing for me is quitting when I KNOW I'm sucking. I get a bit ragey and all 'No! I can do better than that! I'll play again!' but I'm really just too cranky and not doing good inputs at that point and it's just a recipe for frustration.

Simple rule of baiting bursts, if they are low on health and you hit them with a good mix up, they'll burst. My last burst bait was against an Azrael. I was jin and hit him with a 6A, rapid cancelled into a 5C, then jumped back immediately and took the burst. Due to spacing I didn't get a full combo but I did get the pressure which let me end the match. Eve if you don't get the burst you can simply go back to pressure. If you're confident about it then go for it.

If you're confident about it then go for it. Why don't you just forward jump and block if you burst bait with a JCable normal? (Like 6A > RC > 5C > 91) If they burst it stops your momentum and drops you right in front of them, and if they don't burst you can fall down on them with j.2C for more pressure or a crossup if you were really close to them. Backwards jump gives them too much space, especially if they burst a tad late. And if your character is slow you won't be able to start a punishing enough combo usually, because you are too far away. People also love to burst after you bait their reversals. So something like *Make DP whiff* > Dash 5C > 91 Also some people (usually zoners) will burst the instant you touch them. If you read them correctly though, you can turn what would have been a 1k combo into a 3k one, plus momentum.

susano Posted March 30, 2015 Posted March 30, 2015 When I say I'm going to start using something, and then I don't use it online. And I don't hate on pad. I grew up with pad. Just that my DS3 was failing me. And Airk, you described me in a nutshell. That's how I am. I was sucking terrible with my Hilda, lost matches here and there and I still didn't want to give up. Then my frustration began to build. Taking a break definitely helps though.
