StylisH Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Opponents beating my buttons when they're mashing from disadvantage (-4 or worse). OTL Sounds like Az 5A after pretty much anything unsafe (6C, 3C, etc)
Dark Ranger88 Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 This isn't really netplay, but I didn't know where to put this. I recently started watching my replays and...there's no rewind function??? Why? How hard could that be to implement?
NecroTheReaper Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 People taking their salt out on you by kicking you to get their runback :/ if you want 1v1s against someone at least let me do my round first
mAceOfHearts Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Sounds like Az 5A after pretty much anything unsafe (6C, 3C, etc) Do you mean 6D and 3D? 6C is plus on block, if I recall correctly.
StylisH Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Do you mean 6D and 3D? 6C is plus on block, if I recall correctly. Yeah, you're right, I meant D instead of C. For some reason, a lot of Azrael players believe they have frame advantage after a blocked drive.

How hard could that be to implement? There must be SOME technical reason, because I've never seen any fighting game do this. Which is annoying as hell.
mAc Chaos Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 It probably relates to how the replays themselves work. I always wondered how the replays can be so small; an actual recording would be huge. So they can't be recordings. My guess is they are recreations. The game saves the inputs from a match and then just recreates the match from those inputs. That is how sometimes in CT I actually would get replays that would mess up every now and then. So you can't rewind it because it's not an actual recording.
Kikirin Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I guess it depends on how replays are saved, format-wise. It doesn't seem likely to be saved in straight up encoded video, as that sounds to consume a lot of hard drive space. At the most minimal, it might be simply a record of inputs to play back at certain frames without storing any of the game state at all, akin to training mode's record and playback. If that is the case, it'd be very hard to rewind animations or skip to a prior time in the playback. Edit: beaten to the punch, like vs. a Hakumen attacking from disadvantage. =3
Antaiseito Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 Why? How hard could that be to implement? I think in Warcraft 3 a replay just contained the time and position of button-presses. So every situation depends on all the previous information played in order, there is never a concurrent gamestate you could rewind to.... Dunno if it also works like this in FGs, but that would be an explenation. Edit: Ninja-sandwiched ._.
Airk Posted March 10, 2015 Posted March 10, 2015 I've always assumed that was how it worked, but I still don't understand why that prohibits them putting in something to rewind to a couple of past states. Certainly, it's completely absurd that they can't rewind to the start of the round, at the very least.
Grimsley-San Posted March 10, 2015 Author Posted March 10, 2015 Players who NEVER block high. It's really difficult to learn new ways to mix up when you play someone who falls for the same OH 4 times a round. inb4 every Xrd player online who blocks low on 5D and Riot Stomps.

But even if it is just a recording of inputs, they could still program replay mode to fast-forward through a certain number of frames and inputs almost instantly. Like in CS when you would join a player room that already had a match going, it would haul ass until it caught up to the actual match. So rewinding wouldn't really be rewinding, rather stopping and fast forwarding instantaneously, so that you don't have to save game states.
Airk Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 I kinda miss super-speed catchup. It beats "Yeah, just sit in the room and stare at the player list until the match is over" so one wonders why they dropped it. If there was an issue with "Well, sometimes the person watching in fastwind would actually hold things up" well then program the damn thing to send all spectators a "Hey, the match is over" notification that makes anyone in fastwind immediately drop to the lobby. Problem solved. Oh well. Another backgrade for CP.
Nemesis Posted March 11, 2015 Posted March 11, 2015 when you just lost a match and you know its just you and the other guy but someone happens to join inbetween the end of the winning quote and when the screen recovers from being a black screen to show you that someone just joined and takes your run back lol
Nirage Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 When you find a decent player and the start of the second round becomes a slideshow
someonewhodied Posted March 13, 2015 Posted March 13, 2015 When i'm making a combo video for one character and suddenly find a ton of new tech for another character.
StylisH Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 I don't understand how people get upset over getting astraled. Something that requires 100 meter and has to either be comboed into or simply tossed out there that most players can see from orbit shouldn't be THAT bad should it?
Nemesis Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I don't understand how people get upset over getting astraled. Something that requires 100 meter and has to either be comboed into or simply tossed out there that most players can see from orbit shouldn't be THAT bad should it? younger and/or more immature people like to take it as some kind of a personal insult. No matter how practical the Astral might be or it was the best shot of winning you could make or you mashed it out or you MEANT for it to be painful - people by far in large want to quickly take offense to something and social justice warrior themselves into feeling bad/better w/e... Its just the kind of butt hurt society we are becoming thanks to ... literally a shit load of things. (dat double buttjoke...) But seriously - even I have raged AVGN style at getting astraled - it seems to have greater effect when it comes from someone you dislike/hate/rivalry Some astrals tho no matter how much I cant stand the person never bother me even alittle bit cause they are such a good show... like Bang's ... or Azrael's Its just so fucking manly I always end up smiling and muttering (that piece of shit I'll make him pay for not letting me be angry about this loss...) When you find a decent player and the start of the second round becomes a slideshow I for w/e reason totally dont understand this
susano Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 People who either beat you or you beat them and don't say GGs or give you a chance for a runback. Seriously, don't join my room if you're going to do that crap to me. No matter how annoyed or frustrated I get, I always try to say GGs.

Seriously, don't join my room if you're going to do that crap to me. This. I once got double perfected by someone, then astral'd them the very next match. At least give me a couple of matches to try and adapt. Thinking, "Wow there's no way you'll EVER beat me. Might as well leave so I don't waste any of my time," has got to be the most obnoxious thing ever.
Nirage Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I for w/e reason totally dont understand this From personal experience it seems to be a green light for them to start doing really dumb stuff that they never would've done otherwise, since there's a chance that the connection will stutter

Nah I can't even say that with a straight face.
D.R.F. Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Maybe they were late for a date? Nah I can't even say that with a straight face. That's fucked man lol
Dawn of Musou Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 When you legititmately try to help someone improve cause he was actually pretty good but he refuses to listen because of the high sodium content in his veins. He actually told me :"Jin is a reset character only, not a pressure character, git gud scrub " Man 0 bar netplay resets don't make Jin a reset character.
