Errol Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 so on defense.. On the same lines, having 'weak' defense isn't bad in lag. if I'm playing tsubaki... Can you do anything on reaction to me using a DP? DP RC? DP > dive? No. You have to hard call, hard block, etc. There's nowhere here that lag actually comes into play, besides maybe messing up your DP inputs because of lag. lag doesn't affect the offense side here really at all. Now.. Take the reverse situation, where you have WEAK defense. If the connection is smooth, you're not going to get out of oki. everything you've got can be denied on reaction. But it can actually get much harder to do that in lag, with all the tech options in this game. Meaties don't land on time, you miss a punish for a roll, someone gets to quick wakeup, etc all of those basic options are stronger in lag. The DP is not really any stronger. So is a character with strong defense helped by lag? I would say no. You might argue that if you can't dp, you have to try to block, which is harder because it is netplay, but is that true? This is netplay, come on. Not to mention if you're already playing against a character which has a strong mixup game that you're not going to block on reaction, it IS ONLY A BENEFIT TO HAVE LAG. There is a reason people say 'netplay', etc. It's cause it makes WEAKER things, things that won't work OFFLINE, work more often. That's all...

I'm sure everyonr knows how basic this string is for Relius, and when it gets screwed up, its practically a free air CH. Anyway, this is all in lag. And we all agree we hate lag (unless you're bad and love people getting hit by purple 360s all day long). Psn, you hurt my feelings

Errol Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 i don't see why lag would matter. you do it at the same time, it will happen at the same time, lag doesn't affect that. the input seems quite easy and it's not that tight. seems like there would have to be an ocean of lag for that to not work...

Myoro Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 You gotta do it right when your jump is buffering which is about four or less frames. If you don't combos will drop and pressure will be obliterated. It's not like other characters where you cancel into stuff and use the input buffer as a lag crutch, 6D is independent of Relius' other normals meaning it can be early or late. If you mistime it even a little the move will come out too soon or become j.8D, and you get blown up ether way, which is horrible to a momentum based character like Relius. If Relius gets hit during Ignis pressure he gets a gauge penalty, damaged heavily, and is forced into playing his terrible defensive game (Likely while in lag too.) Lag is no friend of Relius.

Myoro Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 I have a solution that I use. Fight them once to see if they're super laggy than say, "sorry but I can't play well in lag" afterwords. BTW Necro, we have lag matches every now and then, what do I appear as to you bar wise?

Do you know what we have in the ways of defense? a frame 7 head invuln stub of an anti air and a command dodge that is grabbable on reaction. On the offensive lag can screw up our timing on our frametraps and pressure making them ever so DP-able, every single time. Also, as if our overhead wasn't obvious enough, lol. What's your example of it helping us? I mean sometimes it does have the benifit of making our frame traps more appetizing, because the lag will show you 50 frames where you can "escape" and really there was only supposed to be 3 or 4. When it starts to lag hard when I play Relius I just give up, hope I hit them enough and then rely on dat gdlk astral.

I still could get perfect impacts in hot shots golf: invitational, so maybe nerve damage? Is there some diagnostic? lol, no crazy gaming until the neurologist appointment I guess. Salty when trying to see someone since February. Lag screws up everyone, especially bad lag. Input delay is by far the most evil thing imaginable unless you play more using muscle memory.
