Fair enough, all fun and games. :p

Scumbag? Are you for anonymous incompetency?

3v3 is always pokemon. I'd rather down 10 Tokyo Teas than run 5 Waseda 3v3 8 team brackets.

The comment while may seem odd, coming from a random person that doesn't post alot, for this was really just a joke which is why there is a smile face and lol. Please don't take it for more than it is, my vote though is legit and should be taken as so.

Definitely option one.

Now, you know I love the anime community, I support it as much as I can in my hometown and regularly travel out of the country for tournaments... But having teams as a main event is something that really makes me consider not attending.

This is not me trying to be a party pooper, I just sincerely can't get excited enough over a team tournament to justify taking a whole 3 days off work + spending 4 days' worth of living expenses. I mean, I love playing in team tournaments but to me they are a fun, kinda goofy side event next to the standard double elim singles tourney.

No disrespect meant to the organizers at all, this is just how I honestly feel. :o

I really want to see both events happen personally. I voted for teams because the community loves to flake out on whatever "silly team tournament" that happens on the side. Everyone talks about them and gets hype and excited -- but they just don't happen. I think enough people will want singles that it will happen regardless, even if it is a 'side tournament' -- so I think this has the best chance of allowing both to happen.

Of course your vote counts, come on now.

I kind of have some issues on a bigger scale with anonymous voting systems though, so I got riled up. My bad.

I feel like 1v1s would be better as a main event since there's less complications involved. You don't need to put together a team, you can just show up and play. It's also more purely competitive in that your placement depends on your own skill, alone.

Team tournies would be fun as a side event though.

Although it depends if you just want to goof around and have fun since it will be so early into BBCP and most people won't be adapted to the game yet. So in that case a 3v3 might be better.

I voted for Singles for Both. I think Teams would be more fun but I'm also putting into consideration on the possibility of actually finding a team, some people may have last minute changes and either not go or go to the tournament so there will be teams missing players who may have been a key person to their team or someone who found out last minute they can come and have to scavenge for a team with a spot open.

If the format is teams, will 2 of the same character be allowed on a team?

IIRC you can have the same character multiple times but characters are locked.

Teams will be Pokemon (winner stays on) format. The tournament will still be double elimination, but will be a single match between teams. Finals might be 2/3 but there is a good chance that won't happen due to time (finals will be on Team Spooky's stream on Sunday).

Yes you can have multiple of the same character on a team, even an entire team of the same character.

Yes, you can enter by yourself, but there is only one of "you" on the team, not three: you lose once, you lose the match.

I like the idea of trying to make teams a main event but, I'd personally would want to have singles for both games be the main highlight. There has been issues with teams always being canceled or just not happening because of scheduling or lack of interest due to whatever.

Now, if people really want this to happen, why not have P4A/BB/GG singles on Saturday and finish the tournaments on Saturday, then run BB/GG Teams on Sunday? This way all the singles tournaments gain the prime time slot they deserve and it won't overlap with teams on Sunday and Big E get's both team events scheduled and they will get their prime time slots as well.

Doing this does leave Friday at the Copabanana open for casuals, FT-Whatever challenges or, quite possibly, a P4A Teams Tournament (Pending if people showing up early enough to run it). I don't wanna knock anyone for wanting teams but if it were scheduled this way, I believe it would work out so that everyone gets singles and teams as a highlighted event. This also allows anyone who aren't interested in teams and wants to go home to leave on Sunday since there aren't any Singles Finals happening that day; if they so desire. Also, anyone who can't make it Friday who wants to participate in a team tournament can jump in on Sunday since both teams tournaments will be happening on Sunday and not divided (seeing how that could be a possibility).

This isn't my event but I thought I would throw that idea out there, since people really want to have both singles and teams there and, avoid having them neglected or dropped. It also gives Big E the team main event for both GG and BB he wants; it could work out for everyone.

there is high likelihood of teams not happening at all if not the main event. we could just as easily subtitute "teams on friday or sunday" for singles and the problem would go either way, maybe less so since its much easier to actually get a singles side tournament going as opposed to a team tournament.

A lot of people take it as "not serious" but i dont really get why it couldnt be? Japan's large tournaments (SBO sometimes, mikado etc) have had teams as the main event.

then again, "serious" seems kind of silly to me. We are practically getting the game November, so we have a little more than a month to learn, and its not even going to be available in NA, so import or bust.

there is honestly no better time for a "not serious" format (if you even want to consider it as such, but ill give you that subjective leeway). if you dont lose, your team wont.

if youre afraid of getting randomed out in ft1, lol

all my opinion yadda yadda, if any of you flake because of the community decision to have one format over the other im going to be pretty disappointed

edit: its your responsibility as a player to be able to compete in different formats. even grand finals has a different format than 2/3, and that takes a different mindset. ft1 is uncommon HERE, but still something you should be ready for. the only real viable complaint i would take is "i want to play more, so i want singles", aside from inherent dislike of teams format (not being solo etc but i dont think thats THAT bad). I know 2/3 is tried and true tournament format, but tournament is tournament. if you wanted to measure your skill im pretty sure sets against strong players would be a much better measure than tournament. do you really think 2/3 prevents people from getting randomed out? especially month 1? look at p4, a game that was available to everyone and my boy emp psyken sent lord knight to losers. LORD KNIGHT. If you think youre better than lk this doesnt apply to you, but we should put some money on that or something
