Setsuna Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Lyfa not playable, no buy! I'm still alittle confused as to why Lyfa (a character from S2 of SAO) is an assist for Asuna from S1 of SAO. She came from ALO and Asuna is in her outfit for SAO ... Not that it matters that much to me, I got the character I wanted www
NeoStrayCat Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Well, as long as your happy that your favorite char. is finally in a fighter (with a pocket fighter-esque kinda style), other than that, I wait to see more from this soon.
Abelcru Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Is obvious they didnt watch SAO anime (who would watch it anyway?)
Celerity Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Initially I figured Kirito would also be playable, but I got to thinking, who would his assist be? Leafa is the natural partner for him. Everybody else I can think of is either too minor, or not entirely combat-ready. It just feels weird not to include the main character of the series.
Kairos Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 So wait I can main Shizuo and use Kirino as a training dummy? Yo I can definitely get behind this game

I'm sure Asuna and Leafa have more of a following then Kirito (all of Kiritos harem for that matter). So wait I can main Shizuo and use Kirino as a training dummy? To be fair this is what I think might be the "downfall" for the game for me (and maybe more). Cause they have only shown they are willing to add one character for fighting and one for assist from a series, which makes perfect sense considering how many series they could include in the game. But at the same time this popularity poll decision making could be alienating for potential buyers by making itself become nothing more than fan-wank material. I don't want it to become a my waifu from anime-x beat your waifu from anime-y, sort of game, but maybe I just don't understand the Japanese market AT ALL.

SoWL Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I'd wait with the roster speculation until Dengeki says anything concrete about including more than one character from a single series. Or not including, for that matter. For now, I'm bracing for at least one more character from the revealed series, be it the other protagonist or a villain (the game needs villains, seriously), but that's just because I'm hopelessly optimistic (and want more playable Shana chars). Is obvious they didnt watch SAO anime (who would watch it anyway?) The publishers of the original books don't watch the anime version of said books. Riiight.

Tokkan Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 So they'll be streaming the loketest. That's pretty cool.
SoWL Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 There's also a report of the Sunday event along with an interview with the devs, which I might translate later: http://www.4gamer.net/games/234/G023427/20131008001/
Betto Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I'm probably blind when I was reading info, but when does the loketest start?
SoWL Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 (edited) It starts tomorrow (today by JP time) and will last for the rest of the week. EDIT: There wasn't that much info in that article, after all. Here are the main points: - The DP motion is absent from the movelists, since the devs don't want new players to have too much trouble with the inputs. All reversal attacks are delegated to Impact Skills. - There is some input lag, but instead of hurting the gameplay, it makes the characters feel speedy and nice (?). - Kirino's Potential is "When her life drops below 30%, her attack gets stronger by 20% for 20 seconds". - The three Support types are called "Attack-Support" (Leafa), "Defense-Support" (Touma) and "Extra-Support" (Vilhelmina, Kuroneko). - More and more character reveals are going to come very soon. - The game is made with wide audience in mind, including females and children. Unless they just meant reversal through guardpoint, rather than invincibility? Also, new article on the Dengeki website. From my Google Translate adventures, it seems to just be a basic description of the previous loketest's Characters. Is anybody willing to translate it?

Hahahaha, I love that part. "We need to make our game easier for the womenz." I wonder what the difference is between attack-type and extra-type, since it looks like Wilhelmina was attacking in all of her screenshots. Also, built-in input lag doesn't sound right. Are you sure they weren't talking about an input buffer?
InWithTheAshes Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 I just remembered that P4A's themselves were guardpoint. ... ... ;_;
SoWL Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 ... Shit, two button DPs. That's... turned my impression of the game around quite a bit. Unless they just meant reversal through guardpoint, rather than invincibility? It's probably something like that, yeah. Basically, when everyone has guard-point specials, there is little need for the proper DPs. I'll check the article in a minute. I wonder what the difference is between attack-type and extra-type, since it looks like Wilhelmina was attacking in all of her screenshots. Also, built-in input lag doesn't sound right. Are you sure they weren't talking about an input buffer? The way it was worded made it sound like lag: "Some time passes between you pressing a button and the character performing a move, which sometimes makes it difficult to perform specials". And I suppose the difference between Attack and Extra supports is in the extra effects that come with the attack (Wilhelmina stuns the enemy, for example)?
SolxBaiken Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 I assume that Extra will mean more utility than just pure offense/defense [or even amalgams] perfect point, I could've swore that in earlier location test notes it was stated the Wilhelminia binds the opponent for you to follow up with combos. I'd constitute that as more trap/setup than straight up attacking.
Martian Buddy Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Maybe it means that you can change the assist type? Like, with Wilhelmina you could choose whether you want it to be an Attack Defense or Extra, sorta like Moon Types or Grooves. I'll admit that's leaning really heavy into speculation. What we really need is loketest footage before we can figure anything.
SoWL Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Some of these are less informative than Xie's reports in the OP, but I'll keep them in just in case. - Shana has two specials: a projectile and a circular attack with the sword (both can be performed in mid-air). Her Impact Skill can be used both in combos and as a counter-attack. Her Trump Card makes her form a Fuzetsu that basically stops time. Her first Climax Arts makes her rise upwards, then fall diagonally downwards (Winger anyone?). Her second Climax Arts makes her wrap her sword in flame and perform a long combo. - Wilhelmina has some tracking properties on her attack. It takes a while to use her again, so you can't really spam her. - Misaka can improve the range of her electrical attacks by holding down the button. Her crouching Impact Skill has great range, while her standing one is better fit for close-ranged battles. Her Trump Card makes her kick a vending machine and blow the enemy away with an overhead strike. Her first special is a simple long-ranged lightning bolt, while her other special makes her attract rubble and toss it at the enemy while moving in mid-air. Her Climax Arts are her coin railgun toss and a simple auto-combo super. - Touma stops the enemy's attack and blows them away if he is hit, even if the enemy tries to use Climax Arts on him. He also recovers faster than the rest of the Support characters. - Asuna's neutral Impact Skill makes her dash forward with a rapier thrust. Her crouching one, on the other hand, makes her jump and quickly dive diagonally downwards at a steep angle. Her Trump Card makes her perform an uppercut after a short wind-up. Her first special is a couple of fast stabs that comes out pretty fast and deals lots of hits. Her other special makes her jump backwards and perform a follow-up move depending on the button you press. If you hold the button down, she performs a feint instead. Lastly, her third special is a mid-air rush that holds her aerial combos together. Both her supers can be used in combos and come out pretty fast, one of them being a quick auto-combo from the trailer. - Leafa blows the enemy away with her wind attack, so it's important to keep your position in mind if you want to use her in a combo. She recovers fast enough so you can throw her out in neutral as a poke and in combos to deal some extra damage. - Kirino might be the most technical character so far: since her range is short, you have to depend on her tricks and Support characters to get in. Her neutral Impact Skill is a multi-hit attack, while her crouching one is an anti-air move with a tall hitbox. Her Trump Card makes her mount the enemy and slap them: even though there's a limited amount of these, you kinda want to use it as often as possible. Her first special makes her perform a rushdown attack, a slide or a jumping kick depending on the button pressed. The C version can also serve as a mobility tool in a pinch. The second special makes Kirino throw random stuff at various arcs that stays on the screen. You can hold the button down to keep on throwing. The third special makes her throw a beach ball in mid-air: since you can't act until you land, you have to be careful about when to use it. Her first Climax Arts makes her perform a dance in various cosplay outfits, and her second one is the crane game from the trailer: if the enemy doesn't dodge the crane, they receive lots of damage. - Kuroneko appears in front of your character and strikes a chuuni pose, making roses appear around her. Since the roses make lots of petals that all deal damage, the range of this attack is deceptively wide.
CyberAkuma Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 So they'll be streaming the loketest. That's pretty cool. I'll say. It's certainly nice to see a dev and publisher that's not afraid to let us see, instead of the usual MO.
Abelcru Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Like always I'll be recording the stream, but when exactly does it starts?
SolxBaiken Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 well the shops open at 10am JST and as far as I could tell, the tweet didn't specify a time.
Abelcru Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Thats why im asking. I guess I'll be ready then.
