mAc Chaos Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 mac lets play more. I like suffering. Not for now. It was kind of laggy anyway. Maybe more tomorrow though. I must ponder Nemesis' playing. It's not that I forgot how he plays; he just played totally different. I was expecting a DP every other second and instead he was holding back on them. I am disappoint. Also more crossunder 6As instead of 2Cs. And I totally forgot about laser fortress.
Nemesis Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 It was enjoyable - although I must say I expected copious amounts of aggression against you that I sadly did not get. Totally different you say? I'll have to study that myself
Wander Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Your "patient" playstyle is more of a disadvantage than a boon. How would you describe this "patient" style? In your matches with him was it just you hitting him with normals while he stood there "waiting"? Sorry if I sound confusing.

Sorry if I sound confusing. Patient is his way of describing it - I would call it something else entirely. My biggest complaint is his complete lack of any kind of aggressive gameplay. Its always him waiting for me to make the first move/opting for blocking/ samey approach/complete lack of any kind of oki other than a very few standard easy manuvers/ high double jumping in the hopes you will stand underneath to get hit by falling J attack... etc etc whats really most disappointing is that I wrote a long page of critique pointing these issues out in great detail back in august - only to come back to see none of it has been adapted into his choices - in effect a waste of my time and effort
Koopa_Klawz Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I have a room up while I wait for this guy to get back from being AFK and no one else is joining. :V
Wander Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Would it be accurate to call it a weak fight or flight response? I call myself "patient" also, but in reality it is just my hesitation.
DJ_Blactricity Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 To each his own. I'm not an aggressive player. I get killed being aggressive. I tried it, but I'm horrible at it plain and simple. I'm not going to do something that doesn't work for me. If you feel you've wasted that's you. I feel I have improved, and will continue to at my own pace. I learn best playing people, but I guess playing me is a waste if time as well.

I would describe you as "Progressive" - not too different from mac in that you take the time necessary to recognize gameplay patterns and adapt accordingly but you begin carefully and progress slowly or quickly until you are full blown in the face stomping - its been awhile and I might be wrong, I would have to consult my data on you. Heres the last bit of advice Im willing to give and thats just cause im such a nice guy : you've made only incremental improvements and slight changes - youll never advance properly until you force yourself to make your weakness a strength (newsflash - it will be a terrible experience at first and easily take a good while) - which you are wholeheartedly avoiding cause of the excuse "I just dont play that way". Its something I had to face myself and continue to do so - if you keep playing with just what your already good at then your weaknesses will only become larger and easier to exploit
BlackYakuzu94 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 I think the game is determined to make me learn to fight Jin one way or another; three Jins in a six person room gives me such a fucking migraine. And yea Blactricity, I'd say you're a little too passive. you kind of crumbled whenever I went on the offense and stayed on it. Your confirms and neutral are damn good, but you kind of always wait for the opponent.
Wander Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 if you keep playing with just what your already good at then your weaknesses will only become larger and easier to exploit I had never thought about this, my mindset was to improve my strengths to cover for my weaknesses. I kind of like my skillset being lopsided. If we ever play again, I need you to pick apart my weaknesses and teach me a lesson
mAc Chaos Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 You can only improve your strengths so far. After a certain point you get diminishing returns. So if you want big gains again you have to go look at your weaknesses.

BlackYakuzu94 Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 My neutral needs work. You just dont know how to deal with me. Confirms could be better too. I really can't fuck with a decent Jin, his neutral is too strong for me to beat at my current level. Especially with Hakumen. Ragna I have a much easier time breaking through as you can see. And yea, I haven't really focused on my confirms for a while now, been grinding that neutral really.
Ricky_Honejasi Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 GGs to DJ_Blactricity for the few games we played tonight.
abadlime Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Gonna be home in an hour or so. Anyone wanna play?

It's like there are no ranges outside of 5A range where it is okay for me to push a button. And good luck getting through all those other distances.
Errol Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 the worst part about jin is ib'ing 6b and getting counterhit or trading pressing 5a. Nerf to +2 please.
DJ_Blactricity Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 the worst part about jin is ib'ing 6b and getting counterhit or trading pressing 5a. Nerf to +2 please. You play rachel and tsu right? You should win or trade everytime pressing 5A. It should beat everything besides our 5A
Airk Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 You play rachel and tsu right? You should win or trade everytime pressing 5A. It should beat everything besides our 5A Timing is not always frame perfect. When both characters' 5A's are the same speed, and you're at +0, it's a crapshoot. That's the point.
